Task 16:
So last season the Austin Copperheads wound up 6-10. A pretty bad season on paper, but we did have a few things to look forward to in the future, such as the growth and development of my player, cornerback Gajeel Redfox, along with a few other players, like fellow cornerback Trent Thigpen, linebackers Crasher Wake, Bull Dozier, Ryan Joseph, and Billdozer Dauterive, and QB Jay Cue III, all of whom hadn't hit regression coming into Season 48. However, the team still seemed to take a step back, winding up with a 5-11 season. Some of the older players have regressed quite a bit, and we had introduced several new rookie players to the squad, so it is somewhat understandable, but it still hurts to see the team struggle so much. Our defense is still solid, leading the LEAGUE in limiting passing yards, and once again leading the conference in limiting yards in general(also third in the league in that regard). Despite all that, we're 8th in the league (of 14 teams) in terms of limiting points. So we're preventing gains through the air, but the run game is running rampant all over us. And when you look at the offense, it is....not good. We're last in the conference, and 13th in the league in terms of scoring points, and while our rushing game is solid, 3rd in the conference, 5th in the league, our passing game is....not. 6th in the conference in passing yards, out of 7 teams, and 9th in the league, is not great for gaining yards quickly, and explains why our placements in terms of gaining yards is identical, 6th in the conference, 9th in the league. My player did improve at least, getting 5 more tackles and 3 more forced fumbles than last season, with the same, low amount of misses, at 2, and his first ever defensive touchdown in the big leagues. It was fun to see his improvement, and I'm hoping to see him improve even further next season.
Task 13:
Last Offseason, I picked this task to talk about the rise of the Sabercats and Josh Patterson, so let's talk about another team that has only recently shot up the ranks, the New Orleans Secondline. This team has EXPLODED onto the scene over the past few seasons. 4 seasons ago, the Secondline was bottom of the league, tied for the worst record with the Sabercats and Butchers, with the second-least amount of points scored, just above the Butchers, and the largest amount of points against them, with it not being even particularly CLOSE. For perspective, 13th in the league was the Sabercats, giving up 489 points. The Secondline gave up 567. 78 points more than the Sabercats. That's the SAME difference in points against than between the 2nd place team (Crash at 318), and the 8th place team (the Fire Salamanders at 395). their defense was NOT good. While they only hopped above the Hahalua in record over the next two seasons, when the team started to improve as a whole, they REALLY improved. Jumping from 6th in the ASFC (4-12) in Season 46, to 3rd, with a record of 11-5. And now? Well, they've only added one more win to their total from last season, but that's enough to leapfrog both the Outlaws and Sabercats, to place 1st in the ASFC. While they aren't 1st in the league in any particular team stat, they have so many players on their roster rated overall at 100 or 99. Starting QB Speedings, Running Back Crane, Fullback Ford, Tackles Jager and Verwae, Wide Receivers Mardukas and Passarelli, Tight End Bowl, Cornerbacks Azazel and Program, Linebackers Adebam and Gibson, Defensive Tackle White, Defensive Ends Who and Elsathelookout, and Safety Junior, are ALL at 100 or 99 for overall ratings, and while 9 of these 16 will be regressing next season, only a couple are actually well into regression, which means this team could very well threaten for the best record in the league once again.
