11. Bell Peepo never actually dreamed of being called Bell Peepo. Bell, initially, was just a normal pepper who happened to be gifted at football. It is weird, he thinks, to be gifted enough at something to make a living doing it, but to fall short of what most people would associate with a professional football player. But who in the NFL would have ever given a literal bell pepper the chance to play football? But, obviously, Bell’s name did not stay Bell Pepper. He is now Bell Peepo. The story of that dates back to his brief-ish stint as a general manager of the illustrious Colorado Yeti. Incredibly, as I look into the history of this historic event, I realize it happened nearly a full calendar year ago today. On July 25th, 2023, the newly drafted safety Mary Marie was thinking up contract demands. I was trying to take pictures of the moon. Yes, you read that right, trying to take pictures of the moon. I have a telescope that, unfortunately, I have not pulled out of the closet in a few months. It is an 8” Orion reflector telescope, meaning it can get a pretty damn nice view of the moon. I was trying to use a dedicated planetary camera to take pictures of said moon. I guess I was having success taking the pictures, the issue was more in the processing of those pictures. I was trying to use a program to stack the pictures and really bring out the details, but the program was very much struggling, due I am quite certain to user error. Anyways, I was attempting to share my photography with the rest of the team when Mary Marie abruptly blurts: “I want naming rights to eph’s player.” Amidst the immediate shock, she adds: “I will be calling it Bell Peepo.” You heard that right, she called me an “it.” Yes, I’m a bell pepper, but PEPPERS HAVE FEELINGS TOO!
