1. Both TIJ and NOLA have done it, and that makes me a winner of the double crown, a what I assume rare achievement of having a user win both the Ultimus and Ultimini (By GM’ing one and having a player in the other). Now, how both teams reached that ultimate goal I can testify to both personally.
For TIJ, I can tell you all about drafting the team that went onto winning the Ultimini. Now for the Core of the Tijuana Offense, we had the QB Puddles Duck, The RB of Brandon Johnson, the WR of Lawrence Crawford, and the TE Bob Kronkowski. We drafted the duck way back when after we lost C. G. Breezy Jr, and in his 3rd year of play we had him be a bit more throw happy than maybe he would have liked. However, for our Junior Tight end and sophomore WR, they took the extra haphazardness as a gift, and turned it into record breaking seasons for both of them (Also helped they had 88 and 90 speed, respectively). Brandon Johnson had to take a step back with the carries to save his body for extra quality, which he showed by averaging 5 yards a carry even with the 5th most carries in the league. Now our defense is supported by our trio of CB’s; Sam Coverdale, Liggy Jiggy, and Harrison Andrews Jr. We had Grzegorz Winnicki and Rusty Shackleferd on the LB spot to lock down the centre of the field. We also had Alexandros Sotiris at the FS position to support our CBs lockdown anyone anywhere. Now, gameplanning wise I wasn’t the best, as our testing was limited and we ran with limited number of tests, which hurt us when it came to planning for opponents. Now, for the season we were looking great at 7-3-1 and 1 game away from clinching the division and having home field advantage. And we choked it. We lost 3 straight in what would have been an implosion for the ages. However, we somehow, against all odds, won the next day, and MINN won to give us another MINN v TIJ matchup. When I say against all odds, I tested a 55% win percentage, which matched up from last weeks 65% win percentage that had home field advantage. However, before going to bed the day before the game, i did testing on my own, unofficial, and uh, we went 3-17, bringing the actual testing win percentage down to 35%. But, we beat NOR so that doesn’t matter. Next day, I tested a 50/50 coinflip, and it was the best we are going to get. And we won, somehow, it uh was genuinely mazing to get ring #13 for the team and ring #3 for the GM career.
Now, for NOLA, the team has been a long time coming, with the eldest players on the team now consisting of the s41 squad…. Wait no that can’t be right, right?! Am I old now?! Anywhoo, the team has had every single piece it could ever have including in a team, including a functioning Offensive Line that finally took shape. The season did have the leading man be my running back, carrying the offense with a pro bowl and first team nomination, and second in MVP and OPOY votes this year. However, we also had an amazing QB and some of the best Wide Receivers this side of the Mississippi. We also had the veteran defense that would carry Crane whenever he was awful that day and locked down any offense that came their way. We blitzed the regular season with a 12-4 record and had the conference title locked up, and then we Obliterated the Outlaws in a cathartic 27-6 victory and then beat the Firehawks in a come from behind thrashing 37-27.
