As a player for the Dallas Birddogs, the game that I would suggest to be flexed into a hypothetical primetime slot would be the second bout between Dallas and Norfolk. The first matchup between the two teams was a legendary bout; Dallas came back from a 21-10 decifit in the fourth quarter, scoring two touchdowns and a field goal to ultimately tie the game at 28 even. Indeed, the last touchdown Dallas had could only be properly described as a miracle; with only eight seconds on the clock, Cedric Theriault ran the ball to the house on a 103 yard kickoff return. To properly put how much of an utter shock this was even to Dallas people (and all apologies to tcookie I'm not trying to throw shade at you), Theriault was only good for 2 receptions for nine yards with one TD, and 15 rush attempts for a total of 60 yards. The TD is, of course, appreciated, but I think its fair to say that this wasn't otherwise one of Theriault's better games to put it lightly. Indeed, before the insane kick return, jreed, myself, and any other Dallas players on the game chat were already resigned to what we assumed was an inevitable defeat. Eight seconds to march down the field for how anemic our offense looked seemed impossible. But, of course, seemed impossible isn't the same as actually impossible. Even if the game ultimately ended in a tie in a mostly uneventful overtime (only one drive felt like it was going anywhere per team, and they both fizzled out spectacularly), the reputation that Dallas had (the worst team in the DSFL last season and at that point not having proved themselves as serious contenders) meant that the tie was celebrated as a de facto win for Dallas.
To a lesser extent, I also know the game was notable for one of the overall better performances of the vaunted S49 Birddog defense. We had seven sacks that game, including three by Tee Bone alone. I remember the Norfolk people around at the time (unfortunately don't remember specific names) getting utterly pissed at how flimsy their offensive line was, especially compared to the stout protection the Dallas line gave Vega Jr. I think this win is what solidified the Dallas Defense as a threat to the DSFL, and showed the win against Tijuana, which many believed was flukish at the time, was no fluke at all, but the team actually did reinvent its identity in what might be one of the best DSFL drafts of all time.
Since that game was played, Dallas has gone on to spoil the undefeated season for London, and in general has been competing with one particular team for control of the DSFL South... Norfolk itself. Yeah, they've been having a pretty decent season themselves, barring this one specific game, and presently are in first place, with Dallas only a single game behind them. The rematch slated for Week 12 might be the deciding factor for ownership of the conference, if current trends continue. Dallas, a team that has only grown significantly in TPE since their first match up (I've almost hit DSFL max TPE and my first season isn't even over, for example), is looking to prove that the extraordinary tie against Norfolk was no fluke. Norfolk, in turn, has their reputation on the line, and wants to put the upstart Dallas in their place to solidify themselves as the top dog of the South.
