Seasons 50-60, the decade of the Hahalua. It was always expected that S50 was to be the start of a strong string of seasons for Honolulu, but almost nobody, not even the Hahalua roster, would’ve predicted just how strong this season ended up being. From 6-10 and missing the playoffs each of the last 2 years to 12-4 and the #1 seed in the ASFC the turnaround has been nothing short of spectacular. Despite a disappointing early exit in the ASFC championship to New York, it’s hard to see this year as anything but a success for Honolulu.
Honolulu didn’t suffer their first loss until week 3 against the Austin Copperheads. It was a rough one, ending with a score of 38-13 after 2 straight wins over New York and Orange County. 0 second half points rarely works out for the team that doesn't score and this game wasn’t about to break that trend. From 14-13 at half to an absolute blowout. Luckily the Hahalua bounced back quickly, absolutely obliterating the Osaka Kaiju 40-10, the biggest blowout of the year for Honolulu. When New Orleans came in in desperate need for a win to save a shockingly bad season up to that point, Honolulu was able to take 2 separate 17-point leads and nearly blew both of them, but narrowly held on 34-31. Then they went on the road to San Jose and beat them by 7, 31-24. Arizona showed that they were still too dog in the ASFC the next week with a 16-point win at home and then Colorado almost pulled off a huge road upset but the Hahalua were able to fend them off with a 6-point OT win. They then suffered their biggest slide of the season, dropping a game at home to New York and Baltimore. Then, all of a sudden, they decided they weren’t going to lose another game for the rest of the season. First Berlin, then San Jose, then New Orleans fell. Then with the final 3 games deciding who was making the playoffs the Hahalua first beat Austin to knock them out and guarantee a playoff spot, then they beat Arizona to lock up the ASFCs 1 seed. Once again OCO made the game much closer than it should've been but all the same Honolulu got the win and the sweep to enter the playoffs with a 6 game win streak. They then got knocked out immediately by New York who would go on to lose the Ultimus to Baltimore.
