The main reason we moved away from it was because there weren't enough active OL and there were a ton of active DL and it wasn't uncommon for a team to get 10 sacks in a game. It was completely out of hand. We also didn't have enough actives overall as the S2 expansion was rushed and a ton of teams were starting half inactives. Then there was the problem that most offensive linemen in the league at that time had only created there because they wanted to be a position of high demand, and really didn't enjoy playing as one. We killed three birds with one stone.OL Bots should 100% remain in the game, it was a good change for the health of the league. I don't think anyone is advocating we return to all-user OL. Continuing to allow people to create as OL isn't going to revert the league back to any of those ills, I don't think.

I realized this this morning talking to some peeps about it but I framed my original post poorly. My main point was "Don't Kill User OL" and then the TPE boost was a side suggestion to offer an alternative because I hate when people criticize a proposed fix without offering something up at least. From talking with @speculadora it seems like user OL are viable in the NSFL at around 350-400 TPE which means there's definitely no boost needed.
Nothing is tested. You want to pass a significant change without test sims to show how much it changes things? That's a very hard sell.
Had we decided a boost could be a good solution to this in principle, then testing would come into play to figure out the ramifications and decide on a number. As it stands now, I'd say it's unnecessary so I'm glad nobody spent their time trying to read the OL tea leaves in tests.

We've returned to the same amount of weekly activity checks as we were pre-giant S15 draft class. And now we need ~40 more players to fill rosters. Encouraging more OL creates is creating supply at the position we have an unlimited supply of right now.We shouldn't encourage new OL creates. I am all for putting up hurdles and warning signs and counseling caution to new users that want to create as an offensive lineman. As much as I've been a crusader for user agency and choice, I'd even begrudging accept a ban on new users creating OLs and only allowing recreates to do so. My main aim is to keep the position from being killed.
As I was assured upthread, the proposal to kill them wouldn't force current OL to change and since no OL, as far as I'm aware, utilized the rookie season free change this wouldn't help us fill roster spots on expansion rosters anyway. Offer OL a free switch to another position if you want but there's no need to kill the position under the guise of filling out rosters post-expansion since it wouldn't have any impact there.

And maybe wait until after the expansion so we really have an idea of what the landscape of the league looks like. There is far too much uncertainty in the league right now and people are not going to be willing to take a leap of faith at times like this.I am fine with all that. I'm going to earn enough TPE to be viable and I enjoy playing in the DSFL so the status quo is fine for me. And hell, if it looks like I'm suggesting these changes to be self-serving, give the boost to every OL except me or bring down the attribute caps so there's less upside for top earners. I think that the design of the position could be improved but I am perfectly happy with keeping it the way it is now so we can see how expansion and the next r/NFL recruiting class shakes out.
Just don't kill the position.
