The Kansas City Coyotes are looking like a strong contender to go to the Ultimini this year. They're 6-1 with the best defense in the league by a country mile. The pass defense is particularly efficient, leading the league in interceptions and pass defenses at the halfway mark, but the run defense has also been stout, only allowing just over 50 yards per game on average. On offense, a three-headed rushing attack from rookie running backs Jason West and Heiiajs D. Owidhuse and starting quarterback Jake Jefferson has been giving opponents fits. West and Owidhuse can wear down opponents by just running into the defense over and over and playing a physical game, while Jefferson's explosive speed can be a backbreaker by producing a touchdown out of nothing - he's had three runs of over 40 yards this year, all for touchdowns. All in all, the Coyotes have shown the ability to beat teams in any way they want and will be a formidable opponent in the playoffs this year.
