In terms of the Chicago Butchers, I'd say that Sweet James Jones was the worst draft pick in team history. He distinctly said that he didn't like our GMs, nor did he want to be in Chi town. And yet with the first round pick, we nabbed up Sweet James Jones. Just a season later filled with threats, racism, and bad attitude and Sweet James Jones was no more. The problem was that Sweet James Jones was a pretty high TPE and productive player. Consistently updating and gaining TPE. But the off the field stuff just kept coming. We couldn't trade him, just eventually had to wait for the ban hammer to come down and end his career. Other than James Jones, I'd say that the San Jose SaberCats actually have the biggest draft bust in team history. They took Marcella Toriki with a top pick in that same draft and she immediately opted for free agency and left for the mega corp big brother team of NOLA. She then became commissioner and recruited more cronies to her NOLA team. Therefore, San Jose is responsible for the creation of the Empire of the NSFL. And now, for the forseeable future, NOLA is the big bads. Thanks San Jose busted picks.

Over the years, there have been plenty of NSFL draft picks that have went on to become nothing more than disappointing busts. One that stands out to me as maybe the biggest draft bust of all time, is 6th overall pick in the S16 NSFL Draft, defensive lineman Chad Maulolo. After a solid season in the DSFL where Maulolo finished top 5 in the league in tackles for loss and was a consistently solid earner, it was clear that Maulolo was a top prospect in the S16 NSFL Draft. In the end, Maulolo was taken 6th overall by the Yellowknife Wraiths. Maulolo had a fairly quiet start to his NSFL career, finishing his rookie season without a sack and with just 3 tackles for loss. To make matters worse for the Wraiths, Maulolo went inactive in his rookie season, never even reaching the 250 TPE threshold. This resulted in Maulolo not playing a single snap in the NSFL for the next 3 seasons. By S20, the Wraiths defensive line was a weak point on their team, and they were forced to play Maulolo for the next two seasons, with middling results. You could argue that this wasted draft pick hasn’t hurt the Wraiths all that much, as they have made the playoffs every season since drafting Maulolo, including 5 straight Ultimus appearances. However, the Wraiths have failed to win a single Ultimus in that stretch. There were some fantastic players taken after Maulolo in the S16 NSFL Draft, including Mako Mendonca, Wolfie McDummy, and Hugh Mongo to name a few. It’s not hard to imagine that if Yellowknife had added one of these players instead of Maulolo, that they would have found some different results in their 5 Ultimus appearances.
The biggest bust in NSFL history is a person who has never even played in the NSFL yet, heck, he's never even played in the DSFL yet. That bust is going to come from the sea, specifically, a pinkish-purple anemone on a coral reef. His name is Ne Mo, and he's going to be the biggest bust in DSFL history when Trautner picks him 52nd OA. Yes, this has been satire, but odds are I'm gonna bust since this site is uh questionable to navigate. You may be asking, how can a person who's never been drafted going to bust? And the thing is, i do not have an answer for you so on a more serious note, I'll talk about a real bust. My biggest bust would be Wanna Be Finn's next player, cause Wanna Be Finn is an absolute turd and a terrible GM in the SHL. Whoever drafts him is going to be one stinky team, cause WBF is a stinky person that is going to stink up any team and locker room that draft him. THis includes my team, cause I'm only really here to play on the same team as Wanna Be Bust and Trautner. So to summarize, I'm a bust, you're a bust, and Wanna Be Finn is a stinky bust. (217 words)

There are a lot of things I can say in regards to this question. As much as I want to dogpile Sweet with the rest of this thread, and believe me, I have some very choice words to say about him, I'll instead go for someone whose already been mentioned several times: Marcella Toriki at 5th Overall for the San Jose Sabercats in Season 18.
They only had her for a single season, then she straight up walked out on the team and ran over to NOLA. Disregarding that, even if she had stayed with the Sabercats for 3 or 4 seasons, what would it have gotten them? She had 900 rushing yards with 4 TDs her first season as the leading rusher, 1100 yards and 7 TDs in her second season and then 900 yards with 3 TDs her third season. Granted, she's stuck behind Gump in New Orleans, but still. In her own class, there are two running backs that have both been better stat wise and have stuck with their original team: Hanyadi and Ruff. Ruff was lost in the Expansion shuffle, though he's still a great player, and Hanyadi has been one of the most prolific offensive players in the league for three seasons running with Yellowknife. Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but San Jose not getting a solid running back with 5OA certainly hurt them for several seasons. (233 Words)

So for this PT I am going to choose to talk about someone that is arguable for the role of biggest bust of all time. He is still active and still earning and is a great player overall. However I nominate Mack Arianlacher from Season 19 for this role. My reasoning for choosing Mack of all people is no fault of his own but rather his team. They chose to take him first overall over some other absolute studs in that class. One of those players, Austin McCormick they did get to draft at third overall so they didn't miss out on him. They did miss out on the best player in the class, yours truly, Kacey Dream. For this and this alone I deem this the worst draft pick of all time. I am hesitant to label Mack a bust but when you could have had a generational talent such as Kacey Dream and you pass on him that HAS to be labeled the worst pick of all time. To put it in perspective there are 7 other players that have solidified themselves as better players than Mack in the season 19 class. At this point he was barely worth a first round pick, let alone the first overall pick. To top it off and just really show how little even New Orleans valued him, they didn't even protect him in the expansion draft and he got taken by Honolulu. The first overall pick should be a cornerstone of your organization. The fact that they let him get taken by another team speaks volumes as to his value and the fact that he was in fact a bust.
