For me, the only movie that matters right now is Avengers: Infinity War. And it will release in one week. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to this for 10 years. This is the culmination of every event so far, resulting in a movie that will feature dozens of heroes on-screen together for the first time. It’s a new feat for the MCU itself, but it’s also the result of a concept that it is fairly new itself, the Cinematic Universe, a group of movies that directly affect one another beyond the limited scope of normal sequels, which only tend to produce less than half a dozen movies (and often feel stale after 3). Yet, somehow, Marvel has put together 18 connected films and still find ways for the product to feel fresh. Ticket sales are higher for this than anything before it and it’s expected to break tons of records. And, to top it off, they’re only getting started. I’m not sure what we can expect next for these next few movies (Marvel’s “Phase 3” is almost finished and they’ve been very secretive about “Phase 4”).
