A Dwyer Christmas Tradition
Besides Santa there is one major tradition in the Dwyer household and that is the Great Gingerbread House Build. Every year my dad and I have taken on a challenge to test our cookie construction. In past years we have done The Pawnee Festival, City Hall and Toms Bistro among other landmarks. But this year we decided to do a British Castle in honor of my Godfather Lord Edgar Covington coming stateside for the holidays. This castle was a huge undertaking. We built a working drawbridge with licorice chain and external control knob. We built 3 towers. The first tower was the turret over the entrance. This turret had all the defensive tools. Pretzel stick Bastille, Pike man defensive walls, and my favorite part which was the hot frosting flume. This would pour a cup of warm frosting to coat the nutcracker army with a delicious burn. The second turret was the Kings quarters. This included large windows to over look the gumdrop countryside and secret passages and slides in case of elf assassins. The final tower was of course the wizard tower. This tower was pimped out with roof access, a cotton candy cloud watching window, and a sugar cauldron. Had a ton of fun and the perfect way to unwind before the preseason games start.
