Back in S7 a weird thing happened. All of a sudden the San Jose Saber Cats were done competing. For the longest time, they were the 2nd or 3rd best (usually 2nd but had some tough sim luck) in the ASFC. But one day, management decided they weren't ready to compete, so come S8, they started shedding pieces like crazy. Dan Miller left, Bayley was shipped out. But I think the most important trade was when Vincent Sharpei (Mu) got shipped out to the Second Line. First of all, out of character, it was a huge deal at the time because SJS was shipping out Co-GMs. It was a full admission of a full rebuild. Very similar to what we saw in Philly the year before. But in character, Sharpei was the prize piece of that defence. He was continually the best line backer in the league pretty much since he joined the league. So for San Jose to ship out that piece was beginning of the end for the ASFC. At that point, everyone knew the Second Line were the kings of the castle. It was the NSFC's job to try and keep up. The Sharpei deal was just the first domino in a row to signal a dynasty starting down south.
