(S11) - PT 4 - Card Collecting

Sure, you have your conventional items that you collect to keep as memories or bragging rights like trading cards or medals, but why would you collect those when you can go up and beyond. While he has yet to test the limits and go for collecting something dastardly that would turn lots of heads, he's gone for the next big thing. Dan Schneider loves to collect pictures of celebrities feet and toes. You may be initially thinking that collecting something like that is creepy and borderline obsessive, but I'm telling you back off and let Schneider do his thing. If he loves looking at feet then that's his business and you can't criticize a boy for that. Those pictures of feet are innocent and he definitely isn't a creeper for collecting them, even though he spends an off amount of time in his basement with those pictures. Some notable celebrities of feet that he has by the way include Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy. It's a sheer coincidence that those were the two stars of Schneider's old show, there certainly isn't some sort of creepy intensive purpose behind them. He just collects them all day long, ever since he first immigrated to the United States from Chernobyl after the reactor explosion.

I am a big Texas sized fan of hats! Hats of all shapes and sizes and all colors too! It probably started with my first hat that I got from my pop-pop. It was a small white Stetson hat with a low brim that looked oversized on me when I put it on at the age of 4! I wore the, pardon my french, shit out of that hat well past the point of no return. I'm not big on sayings like my older half brother Cole, so I won't try to illustrate that for you. I'm a bit more well dressed than he is with my hat collection. I think I have over 100 hats now! When it comes to cowboy hats I have Stetsons, Resistols, Bullhide, Justin, and Cinch caps for everyday wear. I love wearing hats a lot so I don't even bother trying to style my hair any which way. It's just easier to wake up, throw a cap on and head into practice. I mean, I'm wearing a helmet anyways so there's no reason to look pretty for the cameras! Let's let the football do the talking there! Anyways, I hope to keep getting more hats once I make it to the NSFL!

Now that Gus T.T. Showbiz has had a couple paydays from the National Simulation Football League, he earns enough money to make the jump from "crazy" to "eccentric". By this of course we mean that he's kind of a weird dude, but since he has money it's okay. Like your crazy uncle, but since he's rich he's your eccentric uncle.

This is true for Gus, because he's been keeping collections for most of his life. Usually, you only see old people practicing philately (stamp collecting), or ferroequinology (train enthusiasm/collecting). He has been growing his collections of stamps and trains since he was a child, while also practicing tap-dancing (and collecting tap-dancing shoes). Seriously, this man needed to hit it big in the money department to afford his many collecting interests.

And on the topic of money, he collects that too. His coin collection rivals that of the most industrious collectors. When Gus isn't out on the football field for games or practice, and when he's not out solving crimes in his psychic detective business with his buddy Shawn, he's off somewhere looking for things to add to his collection, or an entirely new thing to start collecting.

Collecting may be a hobby for a lot of people, but honestly, I don’t super understand it. A guy I once knew who shall remain nameless was an avid collector. He collected anything sports related: bobble heads, cards, jerseys, sticks, bats, balls, magazine covers, helmets, hats, and on and on. You never realize how into it some people get, and it seems to really take a particular kind of person to develop that quasi-obsession. There’s some joy in having a complete collection, but I mean, how much enjoyment can you get about a group of objects that you refuse to use? My grandmother had a collection of spoons and thimbles, and it’s like you never use it! So, the only thing I ever collect are coasters of different kinds of beers from bars. And then guess what. I use them. Or Nax eats them. I also feel like you have to draw the line somewhere to define your collection, otherwise it turns into an often tacky display and loses meaning. Like if you collect postcards but then only from places you’ve visited, would you accept a postcard from someone else’s trip? These are the big questions that make people uncomfortable.

Borkus Maximus the third of the new orleans second line collects one thing and one thing only and that is DUBS BABY I'm talkin bout DUBYAS that's right W's as in WINS because all Borkus Maximus the third does is WIN he's a SHOT CALLER and a PLAY MAKER all he does is WIN GAMES this kid is a GAMER let me tell you about Borkus Maximus the third he SHATTERED THE MOLD and all he does is win he is re writing the book the record book that is because all he does is WIN GAMES and COLLECT DUBS BABYYYY Borkus has many a dub in his collection and he is very proud of them yes very proud indeed he keeps them in a binder in his closet in his office in his summer home #2 off the banks of Italy it is a very nice home but his favorite part of it is his collection of dubs his dub collection means a lot to him and it his very special to him indeed. He also collects baseball cards but not like good ones his favorite ones are players who are so obscure and nobody really knows them or has heard about them Borkus likes these cards the most because it reminds him that these people have entire lives that they are living full of struggles and dreams and emotions and trials and victories it's like having a baseball card but instead of a star athlete it's just some random jo shmo who lives a normal ordinary life and that's why Borkus likes them so much.

I've always been a big fan of card collection. Even though football si my favorite sport, I never really liked collecting football cards. I mean, if somebody offered me some cards, I'm not gonna turn them down. But I never actively go looking for football cards. I divide my life into the different cards like liked to collect.
My childhood was consumed by Pokémon cards. Pokémon cards were my gift for everything. Christmas, I got Pokémon cards. Doctor visit, I got Pokémon cards if I didn't cry over the shots. Learn how to ride a bike, Pokémon cards. The best part about Pokémon was that you could actually use them in battle instead of just having them there. My friends and I would frequently bet cards on games. "If I win, I get you Pichu. If you win, I'll give you my Caterpie." Not to brag, but I was quite the Pokémon trainer back in my day.
As a teen, all the rage was about baseball cards. My and the guys would always be looking for the new big hit. Baseball cards were probably the only thing that kept me interested in baseball throughout those years. We are always trying to be one step ahead of the crowd, trying to predict the new star before everyone else. If you did that, you could make a fortune off of these cards.
Now in my adult years, cards have faded out of my interests. I'm just so busy with my career and practicing that I have almost no time to invest in card trading. And too add on to that, no guys my age like to trade cards. Harc to find trades when there's no to trade with. I do like to look back at the cards I've collected over the years and reminisce.

Being an avid travel junkie, Ty Justice takes any time he can to explore the world. Given how many places he tends to end up, he likes to take a little something from each country he visits with him so he can remember the trip for the fond experiences they usually are. Every time he visits a new country, he rushes to the gift shop and picks up a snow globe that represents that country to add the ever growing snow globe collection he has back in San Antonio.

As of right now, the different types of snow globes Ty has in his collection go from one he picked up in France from a school trip he took with his middle school French class, all the way from when he went on his first solo trip to Switzerland when he got his first big football paycheck and wanted to splurge on a big ski trip in the Swiss Alps. Every country he visits he always makes sure to retrieve a second snow globe to bring back home to his mom as well, as she loves being able to witness her son travel the world and make new experiences for himself.

In real life I am avid pro football memorabilia collector, so I am going to take this opportunity to discuss and show off my collection.

I have a few basic themes/items I collect:

- Denver Broncos autographed mini helmets
- Hall of Fame Offensive Linemen mini helmets
- 1950s Autographed mini helmets (these are tough to come by)
- Signed ESPN Magazines
- Unique higher end items, typically large mutli-signed pieces that I get autographed in person.

There are two mutli-sign items I am currently working on:

- “The RB Helmet” - This is an electric blue speed rep helmet that I have been collecting all-time great RB signatures on. Right now it has Terrell Davis (HOF inscription), Floyd Little (HOF inscription), Earl Campbell (HOF Inscription), Paul Hornung (HOF inscription), Leroy Kelly (HOF inscription), and Kareem Hunt. See picture below.

- “The HOF Canvas” - This is a 20 x 24 high quality canvas print of the Pro Football HOF Logo. I am collecting as many HOFers as I can fit on the board. It currently has 11 signatures all with HOF inscriptions: Jim Kelly, Steve Largent, Tim Brown, Fred Biletnikoff, Ron Wolf, Gary Zimmerman, Paul Krause, Dwight Stephenson, Marv Levy, Willie Roaf, and Walter Jones. It looks way better in person than in pictures, but a picture is below. I hope to add a ton more signatures at the 2019 National Sports Collectors Convention.

A few other favorites from the collection:

- Terrell Davis Mini Helmet with 3 inscriptions (HOF 17, 2000 Rushing Yard Club, and 2x Super Bowl Champion)

- August 1999 ESPN Magazine signed by Ricky Williams and Mike Ditka. If you do not know the story behind the cover, it's a great one. In the 1999 draft, Mike Ditka (then coach of the Saints) traded away all of his draft picks to move up in the first round to get Ricky Williams. As many know, both Ditka and Williams did not last long in the big easy, likely due to this move. Picture in album below.

While it seems many of her fellow NSFL players enjoy collecting sports cards, Adriana never saw the appeal in collecting pieces of paper with rarity being determined by how many the company decided to print in the first place. History being one of her biggest passions, she prefers to collect historical memorabilia, war medals being her favourites. Whenever she visits a new place, she makes it a priority to visit neighbourhoods with a lot of antique shops or any big market that might have pieces she never saw before. Even if she prefers to collect Italian medals and actively searches for those, she owns medals from every corner of the world and will never decline a good offer. She tries to avoid doing her shopping online as much as possible because bargaining for an item is one of her favourite aspects of collecting. She keeps all of her pieces in a room in her home in Siena, with display cases to show off her collection. A lot of people find it awkward to see world war 2 italian medals when they visit her home but she just considers them part of history and is glad to expose them as part of her collection.
