Welcome to Ultimus Week! This is a special point task that will close on Sunday November 25th at 11:59PM PST . It is broken down into eight written and eight graphic point tasks of which you will choose FOUR to complete. Each point task completed is worth 2.5 TPE and you can earn a maximum of 10 TPE from this event.
NOTE: Each written point task has a 200 word count. NOTE x2: You can complete four point tasks in any combination of written and/or graphics. NOTE x3: Please keep all submissions you make to ONE post. NOTE x4: Graphical submissions must be more than text added to an image. Text thrown on a single image will no receive credit unless it shows significant statistical content or creativity. Note x5: You can link this to PBE to count as your PT for them. You can also link their PT here and it will count for one completed Ultimus Week Task Note x6: You can link this to SHL to count as your PT for them. You can also link their PT here and it will count for one completed Ultimus Week Task There will be some limitations as to when certain tasks can be completed. Here are each of the tasks listed below, and with special notes if any limitations apply. Written Points Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else. Can be completed at any point NONE OTHER THAN THE YELLOWKNIFE WRAITHS WERE ROBBED FROM THE PLAYOFFS SPOT. I AM NOT JUST SAYING THIS BECAUSE I AM A LOYAL USER AND LONGTIME PLAYER OF THE FRANCHISE BUT RATHER I HAVE THE FACTS AND FIGURES TO INDEED BACK UP SUCH A DAMNING CLAIM. YELLOWKNIFE ONLY HAD UHH 4 WHOLE WINS ALL SEASON AND AMASSED A TOTAL OF 10 LOSSES BUT I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THEY COULD'VE WON ALL 14 GAMES WERE IT NOT FOR SUPERNATURAL OCCURRENCES OUTSIDE OF OUR CONTROL. LISTEN WE ALL KNOW THAT YELLOWKNIFE IS A SPOOKY TEAM, ALMOST AS SPOOKY AS THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES BUT MAYBE EVEN SPOOKIER! YELLOWKNIFE SUFFERED THEIR WORST EVER REGULAR SEASON RECORD THIS YEAR DESPITE THEIR TEAM BEING BETTER THAN LAST YEARS ROSTER WHICH GOT A 8-6 RECORD. YELLOWKNIFE (4-10) SCORED 336 POINTS WHILE THE LIBERTY (7-7) AND YETI (8-6) SCORED JUST 309 AND 422 POINTS. WE SHOULD'VE FINISHED THIRD IN THE CONFERENCE ATLEAST AND YOU NEVER KNOW, JUST 5 MORE WINS WOULD'VE MADE US HIT THE PLAYOFFS, MAYBE EVEN WIN THE CONFERENCE BUT I GUESS IT WAS JUST NOT MEANT TO BE. BUT DO NOT WORRY KIDS, NEXT SEASON WE WILL TRY HARDER AND PROBABLY ONLY MISS THE PLAYOFFS BY 1 WIN, A MORAL VICTORY FOR EVERYBODY IN CANADA. Going to Disneyland!:Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland. (Can be completed after the Ultimus game) Ah the Ultimus! I have won just one in my long career but today we are going to be looking at who was the S12 Ultimus MVP. It was of course the New Orleans Second Line who played the Baltimore Hawks. NOLA were 11-3 heading into the big game, Baltimore were 9-5. When it was all said and done NOLA ran out victors with a scoreline of 42-36. It was all decided by a single possession. Now let's look at who the MVP was? Obviously, it was Borkimus Maximus III. Maximus threw for an impressive and rounded 400 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He went 33/51 and posted a qb rating of 114.8. All around great stuff by Maximus as he added yet another ring to his collection. Maximus III was no doubt the Ultimus MVP and pretty much carried NOLA to yet another Ultimus ring. Of course retiring Darren Smallwood played his part too rushing for 139 yards and 1 touchdown from 36 carries. A move which was criticised by some but this old dog proved just how effective he can be with nearly 4 yards a carry despite the mileage. Smallwood now retires with another ring, a dream come true ending to a fantastic and no doubt HOF career. Sit-down with a star:Interview a player from a team that is not your own that is in the playoffs. You must ask them four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. YOU MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS FOR CREDIT. (Can be completed at any point) @Daybe How did Ryan Applehort prepare for the Ultimus game? (For example, a change of diet or an attitude change?) It was purely mental. I felt good about my mechanics, my body, and everything else in the game. It was the mental aspect that would be tough. I had to brush aside the common notion I was a choker, and stick to the gameplan. Baltimore, unfortunately, couldn't run out winners this time, what went wrong? (As in collectively as a team, individually or even both) I took too few risks. We missed out on a lot of opportunities because I played conservatively when I should’ve been looking down the field. Just how proud are you of this Baltimore team? (compared to previous seasons etc) I’m very proud. We battled adversity, shut out the competition, and we showed real toughness, mental and physical. We smashed Colorado in R1, a game I felt encapsulated the potential this team had. In the offseason you moved on to the Yellowknife Wraiths, what prompted this move? (What spurred/caused your change of heart during the S12 offseason?) I’ve always been open for changes. After a season in Baltimore, I wanted a new perspective, and my agency took on the GM job. Sit-down with a fan:Answer questions for an interview from a player that is not your own. You must answer at least four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. Link to the interviewers PT to receive credit. NOTE: THEY MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR YOU TO GET CREDIT. (Can be completed at any point) PT4 (SHL)
Playoff Series MVP: Choose an MVP for one of the playoff series and write about why you chose them. Must be completed after the playoff series you write about
In the DSFL Championship game, the game engine gave us an offensive MVP and a defensive MVP. Since it was a low scoring game, it was clear that defense won out. However, the defensive MVP was listed as a Tij player who lost the game and he didn't have a crazy game so I'm not giving him the mvp award. The offensive MVP was me with 112 yards but I don't want to write about myself especially with no touchdowns. Our best receiver had just 55 yards so he can't be mvp, neither can Cox who had just 149 yards with an interception. Instead I will give the MVP to the entire Pythons defense who managed to shut Tij out all game. Didn't force turnovers but the bend but not break worked out for the Pythons. The only points they allowed to be put on them were after a bad interception which gave Tij great field position. They have been great all year but never were they better and bigger than in the championship when it really mattered. In a game where the offense flopped and failed to produce many points they stepped up and won the game for the Pythons. It wasn't just one player too, it was contributions by everyone that lead to the victory. Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game. Game 1 SFC: It was Tij vs. the Marshals. The Marshals came into this game as heavy favourites and home field advantage which is huge in the playoffs. It was expected to be a blowout in favour of the Marshals. That is not what happened however as Tij managed to win the game 31-20. The Marshals just could not stop the run as the Luchadros RBs combined for over 8 YPC. Game 2 NFC: It was the Pythons vs. the Coyotes. Pythons displayed an NSFL level defense all year which lead them to a 13-1 season. It was expected that they would blow out the Coyotes who, while are no slouch themselves finishing 9-5, they are just no match for the Pythons. What is expected came true this time as they dominated the Coyotes 23-6. QB Boechler couldn't handle the Pythons offense as he threw 3 picks. RB Chess had a great game with over 100 yards and a touchdown to go with it. Championship game Tij vs Pythons: The 5-9 Tij were facing the 13-1 Pythons. It could really only go one way. Somehow, due to poor play by the Pythons offense, the game was just a one touchdown game with the Pythons winning 13-6. Low scoring affair due to the two teams defenses. http://sba.today/forums/index.php?/topic/3...#comment-597606 thanks to psanchez for the sigs
Championship Game Recap:
The Ultmini was an instant classic as it has been the past few seasons. The 3-time Ultmini Champions Tijuana were looking to add their 4th against an arguable much stronger Portland Python team. Tijuana was coming off of a surprisingly tough regular season, but were highly confident after a win in the conference championship against the Marshals. Portland on the other hand was coming off of one of the best seasons in recent date, and were heavily favored to win it all. Despite this seemly lopsided match up, the game remained tight. The most exciting play of the game has to be the 50-yard field goal by the Luchadores rookie kicker early in the game. 50-yard field goals are always exciting, but this kick brought back some historic memories for the Luchadore fans. In the S8 Ultimini, the Luchadores, again underdogs, won the game in the last second off the leg of then rookie Kyle Corbett. This was the Luchadores first championship. This early 50 yard boot left gave the underdog Luchadores hope. Sadly, (for Luchadore fans), Portland ended up winning the game with a score of 13 to 6. While this play did not win the game or even match the strong defensive play from both teams, it gave the Luchadore fans hope to win the 4th Ultimini in a row. Going to Disneyland!: In this years Ultimini, I think there are two sets of players who deserve MVP: the Portland running game (Shady and Smallwood-Chess) and the Portland GMs. The run game was outstanding in this game, 195 yards on 40 attempts. While this rushing attack failed to score, it did run the clock in a close score game with the lead. The Portland offense held the ball and did not give the Luchadores a chance to score and tie it up. This performance is both a credit to the game planning and to the build of these running backs. So, I am going to say Shady and Smallwood-Chess are probably Epcot guys, and will spend all their hard earned DSFL money eating food at every expensive foreign food place in Walt Disney has to offer. While Daybe is probably a Mickey Mouse guy. So, 16 selfies with Mickey Mouse and Goofy the Dog for Daybe, followed up by a lazy stroll through Magic Kingdom and a thrilling ride on Big Thunder Mountain. Lastly, I assume Daybe and the running back duo will meet up to go see the snakes in the Disney Animal Kingdom. Happily Ever After. Until the Luchadores crush their hopes and dreams in S12. Sit down with a fan: @nunccoepi interviewed me 1. SJS started to see some long awaited success this season. What is there most to be excited about going into next season? Yeah I think the team has a lot of talent guys, but we just didn’t have enough to get the wins. I think next season has a lot of excitement with the deep draft class coming up. Unlike last season, we have some early picks, and hope to make those picks matter. If we can fill a few more gaps, this team could be a playoff team. 2. What is the greatest area that SJS still needs to improve in? I would love to see a 3rd dominate LB come play with Deringer and myself, maybe a big Free Agent, while that is not a hole, I love seeing strengths get stronger. We also could really use help on the Dline and the back end of the D. On the offense, I really feel like we have the pieces, guys just need to keep up the offseason work to get better. 3. You signed a contract extension with SJS. Are you there for the long haul? Will you retire a sabercat? That’s a great question. I love the locker room in San Jose and think this team has tons of promise, but it is true that I want to have a ring before it’s all said and done. I think ultimately I will retire a Sabercat and want to retire a Sabercat, but I am keeping my options open to spend some time elsewhere before retirement. I am really excited to see what the front office can do in S12 with the current talent, free agents, and the draft, hopefully to make a push at getting a championship. 4. What happened with the Luchadores this season? Man, Luchadores had a crazy season. I watched every game and just was in awe at how many close games they lost in the regular season. I mean with that roster and such an experienced set of winning GMs, it just didn’t make sense. So, tough season, but they really showed up in the playoffs, getting that huge road win against the newly ran Marshals. It was said to see them lose the championship, but a great rally by the team for sure. Sit down with a star: I interviewed nunccoepi [OPTION]Position: K/P

Robbed:
I honestly think all teams that made playoffs this year deserved it. The 4 teams that did not make it, failed to do so because their teams failed at the simple task of inning football games. But, if I had to be picky, I would say the fans that got robbed the most this season were the Sabercat fans. The team was not in position to win this season, but they were in position to do better than one win. They have had a couple years where they drafted well and have assembled a team that, on paper, should be on par with the Liberty. Philadelphia was able to muster a 7-7 season and while that was short of playoffs, it gives their fan base hope for the coming seasons. San Jose has continually failed to put together a team to be proud of, and that is a robbery of the fans wallets and of their time. And on the real life side of the coin, there's people who play this game who are a part of that team, and have been for a while and I think this constant failure is bad for them. I wouldn't want to play for a team that seemingly had no desire to win every game possible. (214) Playoff Review: Heading into the playoffs, if I were a betting man, I would have won money. They played out exactly as the seeding and rankings showed they would. There were no upsets to be had or surprises in the outcomes. But there were some things that are worth looking at, in retrospect. The Second Line defeated the Otters quite handily in the first round. While the odds were that New Orleans were going to win, I do not think anyone expected them to dominate in the fashion they did. Their regular season meeting was much closer and the Otters, after that meeting, retooled their playbook to better suit Showbiz's talents and really started to show a different team. There were plenty of people coming out and saying Orange County were a dark horse to win the Ultimus, but the Second Line put them back in their place. The Second Line's defeat of the Hawks in the Ultimus Game was no shock either, but like with Orange County, many were calling the upset. There was that "feeling" around the game that it was sort of a trap atmosphere for the Second Line, and that even though Baltimore were the reigning champs, they were somehow the underdog. Well, New Orleans once again proved their haters wrong. (213) Unsung Hero The Second Line has a lot of stars, and given their output of points, a lot of the media fame goes to Borkus Maximus III, Darren Smallwood and Vlad Fyodorovich. And for good reason, as those 3 really were the focal point of the big explosion of points. But what the big media hype doesn't talk about is the defense. In the first round they held the Otters to 13 points. That's not an easy feat. Rookie Tana Keita had a phenomenal playoffs with 15 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 Passes Defended and 1 interception. Considering he is only a rookie, that is a very impressive stat line. He wasn't the only one on the Second Line's defense who had a great playoffs though. Perennial star, Benson Bayley had a decent set of games as well. He posted 14 tackles, 2 passes defended and had an interception as well. And, while Vlad Fyodorovich is getting accolades for his 5 offensive touchdowns through the set of 2 games, they're forgetting he also played well on defense and returned a punt for a touchdown. There is a lot of factors that went into the championship run that New Orleans put forward and it is difficult to shine a light on every aspect of it. And because Borkus and Fyodorovich did so well on offense, it is hard to not focus on their connection. (230) Going to Disneyland!: The entire New Orleans Second Line team should go. But that's not how this works. I have to pick one player, and it shouldn't take long to pick. While Borkus Maximus was on fire and played some of the best ball he ever has, i'd be hard pressed not to give it to the guy who was responsible for 6 Touchdowns through 2 games. Quarterbacks are supposed to get a lot of touchdowns, but a single receiver dominating so heavily? It's pretty amazing. I do not have the stats on hand but I can not recall a singe receiver having such a dominant performance in a playoffs before. Usually teams who won the game did so with 2-3 stud receivers. And not to take anything away from Law and DiMirio, who did not do poorly by any stretch, but Vlad was heads and tails the star of their offensive explosion. In addition to being the explosive threat on offense, Fyodorovich was also a threat on special teams. In the penultimate game of the season, Vlad returned a punt for a touchdown in the first quarter of the game. Being able to be a dual threat like that is call enough for an MVP vote, but what if I told you he was a triple threat? He was also able to bring the pain to the hawks on defense. He had no time off between catching plays, because he was out defending passes on defense. He registered 8 tackles and deflected 2 passes in the Ultimus game. That's a good stat line even if that was all he had to do. But that's all in addition to the other things he contributed to this team's Championship. He truly is an MVP. (291)

Quote:"There is no such thing as a person who can call themselves truly not lonely. There are only those who choose to hide it."
Robbed:
I think it is blatantly obvious to anyone with a set of eyes that the Philadelphia Liberty were absolutely robbed of their playoff chances that they so obviously deserve. Let me go down a quick couple-pointed list of mine as to why this team sent down to us by the lord above was unjustly robbed of their opportunity to face off against the Colorado Yeti in the NSFC semifinals. That's right posers, I said face off against the Yeti and not those stinky Hawks and their team that despite going 9-5 is apparently a trashy team or something. So my first comment that needs to be addressed is the absolute god known as Marquise Brown that is simply a better person than all of us could ever aspire to be. If he isn't jerking himself off 24/7 in the public Discord and shitting on established veterans, he's running TDs for the Liberty and later jerking himself off in the endzone, as is tradition of course. I guarantee you that Brown has one of the most marvelous three inch penises that you will ever see. He'll be like Lyndon B Johnson and whip it out whenever someone attacks his authority to display dominance. My second point is of course the locker room cancers. I'm not one to pick out names because I'm a good boy, but if there's any way in the world I want to attract free agents to this shit-hole of a franchise to try to make it good, it's gathering all of the cancers together in one place. Absolutely robbed. Oh right, Brown is also a weeb and they have elite perks of society so of course playoff bound. Playoff Series MVP: As a member of the Baltimore Hawks or at least one of their recent draftees who will be a member of them this season after honing my big boy defensive abilities down with the Portland Pythons, I feel obliged to write about the game where we enjoyed very nice success. In the NSFC semifinals game against the Colorado Yeti, the Hawks absolutely swept the floor with them, scoring 45 points while limiting the Yeti to only 7 points throughout the game, all 7 being scored in the first quarter. Call me an index-loving box score pansy, but I think it'd be crazy to pick anyone but Hawks quarterback Ryan Applehort as the MVP of that game. Usually quarterbacks hold the special interest of typically being the MVP because they control every single offensive play of the game, but Applehort's 410 yards against a team that went 8-6 on the season is surely something special. Especially considering that the defensive MVP according to the index was a member of the Yetis, it's really huge that Applehort was able to pull off those 410 yards with his team as well as four touchdowns. Of course that one interception is never fun to look at but considering everything else he had done, he wholeheartedly deserves the MVP award for this playoff game. Going to Disneyland: Since I wrote about the MVP of the NSFC semifinal game, I guess it's pretty okay for me to give a quick blurb on my rationale for the MVP of the Ultimus game before getting into what the aforementioned MVP did on his trip to Disneyland. Once again, I'm going to be an index-loving box score pansy and say that Borkus Maximus III was the undisputed MVP of the game. Despite only having 33 completions in 51 attempts which isn't as good of a completion rate of Applehort in the semifinals game that I covered in my last MVP discussion, those exactly 400 yards paired with four touchdowns was marvelous and instrumental in winning the Second Line another championship. That's moreso true considering the game eventually came down to the wire with Borkus himself throwing the pass in overtime that would score a touchdown and win the game for NOLA. Regarding the trip to Disneyland, who can really go to Disneyland without taking a nice trip to Magical Kingdom and meeting with Mickey Mouse and having a breakfast with the princesses. It fits out perfectly because Borkus Maximus III is royalty himself so he fits right in with them. Actually, it might've all actually just been a hallucinogenic dream that he had while under mushrooms, but hell if I really know. PBE PT
