Gary Goodman’s draft experience was one of anticipation. He had been waiting for this moment since he was a young boy in Northern Wisconsin. The Season 25 draft was full of great prospects and there was no telling where players would end up at the end of the day.
There had been weeks and weeks of meeting with teams. You were asked question after question and Gary had hoped he was giving answers that team’s valued. He felt like he made a good impression on a number of teams, but only time would tell. There were a few teams where Gary thought he would definitely land in the 2nd or 3rd round. He knew he was not a top graded prospect but that was okay with him. He was just looking to land on a team where he could help them win some ball games. The day finally arrived, the first round went by and Gary was not selected. No worries, he had anticipate this. Second round comes and goes, that is alright. Third round…still nothing. Gary was starting to sweat, had he correctly applied for this draft? Then finally with the fourth pick in the fourth round… The Baltimore Hawks select Linebacker Gary Goodman. Finally! Gary had a home. It was totally unexpected but still great, nonetheless. He knew he had had a chance to make an impact in his rookie season with his new team.
My player's last draft experience was many moons ago now, as my player is entering his final season before regression. I was drafted with the fourth overall pick in the Season 22 draft, which was noteworthy due to the fact there was 284 prospects - it was bigger than the NFL Draft. You could feel the excitement around the league, not just among the class itself but from everyone scouting us. We were already changing the league, with expansion that offseason to accommodate our players in the ISFL, and it was clear that our influence wouldn't end there. Everyone knew Steg would go first overall to Austin and Tesla would go second to New Orleans, but after that it was much less clear. Austin expressed a desire to trade back into the first round in an attempt to pick me, while there was a lot of mutual interest between myself and both Arizona and Philadelphia. Deep down, my personal preference was Philadelphia and I was a little disappointed to see J0EB picked third overall as I thought that meant I wouldn't be playing for Philly. I got a nice surprise, though, when Arizona traded down with Philadelphia prior to the announcement of the next selection. Arizona incorrectly thought that the Liberty were trading up to select a different player, but instead they picked me at fourth overall and my ISFL career began in red, white and blue. (236 words)

Leading up to the Season 25 draft, I was pretty unsure about where I might be headed. As opposed to the DSFL draft, where I joined numerous locker rooms (and was overwhelmed), I only joined one in the ISFL and promptly left. I believed I had a good locker room presence, but since I knowingly wasn’t showing that by joining locker rooms, I knew that might hurt my stock, but I didn’t mind. My TPE was a bit lower than other linebackers in the class because I started earning a bit later. The linebacker class was also stacked that year, so teams with a big need there would address it early the wait a bit. In that way, I slipped to the third round and was taken by Philly. I did have connection to Philly with my Norfolk GM J0EB playing there, but I still didn’t expect the pick. However, since they scouted me most likely immediately before they picked me, the last-minute nature of it made me suspicious. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed in the time immediately after the draft. The Philly locker room wasn’t as active as I’d liked. Things have changed massively since then, and I love what Philly has become. Looking back, it’s great things happened the way they were. I wanted to make teams regret passing on me until the third, and with the way I’ve earned I believe I’ve made my mark.
My last draft experience was last season, I was picked fourth overall for the Berlin Fire Salamanders. I really did not have many preferences at the time other than that I really did not want to go to Baltimore. Then again, at that time I had thought that Baltimore mainly drafted KCC players, as at that point they never scouted anyone other than KCC players. I also wasn’t sure about YKW at the time, as they had just copied and pasted a list of questions for their scouting of me rather than like asking me them in a more personal manner, but i didn’t hugely care about that. I honestly wasn’t expecting to be picked fourth overall. Honestly, Laser’s mock draft mocked me there, which was extremely surprising and oddly accurate, seeing as how at the time I wasn’t even the best DT in the draft. I’ve been moved to DE since then, and I’m not the best DE in the draft either. Either way, I’m very happy Berlin chose me, and I definitely appreciate them believing in me enough to not only pick me in general, but pick me with such an early pick as fourth overall. The draft definitely went well for me
