Sam is a big player of video games and spends thousands of dollars on them every year, specifically NBA 2K and Madden. His special collection for todays topic goes to Madden 18 in which he has a surplus amount of rare cards, cards so rare that to this day he still receives messages for payments of up to five thousand for them. What are these cards you may ask his most prized is Madden championship Alshon Jeffery. So rare that it’s not even on muthead, in fact he is the only owner of that card as it was given by EA support due to a glitched reward. The second card is Veterans Marshall Yanda a card that most people forget that exist because it dropped a couple months in the game in a pretty bad promo wasn't expensive at first but is needed to power up his 98 ovr version which released during easter which spiked his price up to nearly a million in game coins for the rest of the year. Those expensive cards are not the impressive part its the fact that he has acquired over 6000 players throughout the Madden 18 cycle with a current binder that is worth a couple thousand in real cash.

Inspired by Jon Bois' fictional epic 17776, a story about the transformation of the game of football as well as the human race, Kolby Deringer has set out to actually attempt to track down and collect footballs signed by Koy Detmer. It might have just been crazy to try it, though he reckoned it would be a much easier mission now, with Detmer's career having just ended in 2005, rather than trying to track all of them down 15,000 years removed from his football career, even if he would have all the time in the world.

With a desire to answer the question and the means to answer that question, Deringer has collected 9 such footballs so far. The story theorizes 17 such balls exist. Koy Detmer himself shook his head once more upon Deringer's confession going public on this collection hobby.. "Why did that damn Bois have to inspire a famous nut? On the other hand, perhaps this is an opportunity to see just how far this kid will go for the bit..."

Jon Bois himself only nodded in acknowledgement and said "just keep me updated on his running total. I want to see the end of this. This is a story that sounds like it'll be pretty good."

As a kid, Luke Smyles did collect some football cards here and there, picking them up from this place and that, and they end up in a box and somehow have accumulated over the years to just fill up a bigger and bigger box each time you look, as most kids with some kind of cards.

However once he was really into football (and coming from a wealthier family), the collection that Smyles really prides himself on is his collection of NSFL and DSFL jerseys. Working on collecting one of each, he's made progress, collecting the ones you wear to games as a kid, gifts over the years, and his own purchases. The ones that he does have are framed in his home gym, adorning the walls around him as he works towards his dream. Of the 16 jerseys he needs to collect to have them all (7 DSFL, 9 NSFL), Smyles currently has 10. Those he have include 2 quite rare ones, being a Wyatt Fulton Las Vegas Legion Jersey, and a Matt Edilio Chicago Blues jersey. He of course has framed his first San Antonio jersey, from the draft. The other 7 jerseys in his collection are a Selich Coyotes jersey, a Weston Sabercats, a Collins Pythons, a Westfield Otters, a Miller Yeti, a Tuck Outlaws, and finally a LeClair Hawks jersey.

I really can’t wrap my head around what Reese would collect; he’s a traditional jock. He probably collected baseball cards as a kid, but it doesn’t feel like an ongoing hobby for him.

As for me (SwagSloth),I’ve been an avid collector since I was a kid, starting with comic books and later card games. A friend got me into Magic the Gathering about 15 years ago and I’ve tried to keep up with it as best as I can, though it can be tough with the volume of products they produce. These days, though, the main thing I I collect are Funko pops. My favorite is Drew Brees, but the range of characters and genres represented in the Funko line is enormous. I have characters from Marvel, Dragon Ball Z, NFL, Mass Effect, The Walking Dead, etc. It’s a fun tribute to various games, movies, and shows I’ve followed over the years.

Of course, Reese probably secretly collects Funko pops. I’m sure his favorite is an NSFL series Eric Kennedy Funko pop. He managed to his hands on an S5 edition, but it was broken and had to be replaced with an S7 edition.

One souvenir item that I've always loved to collect are shot glasses. They've incredibly inexpensive, they're practical, and it's a nice way of showing where you've traveled. I much prefer it to any other type of collection. I've found that if you have a friend or relative that's traveling somewhere that you've never been before, it's very easy to ask them if they could bring you back a shot glass. It will usually only cost them five dollars, and it's easy for them to pack, so it won't be an inconvenience for when they return. At the moment, I'd estimate that I own anywhere from 80 – 100 shot glasses from around the world. I have a display case that I've mounted to the wall to show them off easily. Most of them consist of logos of sports teams, or just with the name of a city I've visited. They're mounted right above the bar, so whenever I need to pour an ounce of liquor, I've got them right there for me. I highly recommend collecting shot glasses to anyone, as it's inexpensive and very enjoyable. My favourites are four Game of Thrones style ones that I received for my birthday.

Maybe I'm showing my age a little bit here, but Howard Miller was totally into collecting the original Pokemon cards. I'm talking back in the times when the only Pokemon around were the only ones that truly matter anyway: the original 151. As far as Miller is concerned, the list of Pokemon stops after Mew.

There was nothing quite like the excitement of getting a rare holo card. And back then, everyone had the binders with purpose-made sleeves that held three rows of three cards on each page. Flipping through and seeing blank spaces awakened some primal desire within kids back then that forced them to do whatever was necessary to get the cards they needed to complete their collection. Honestly, no toy or set of collections have come close to rivalling what the original Pokemon empire started back then. Back in the good old days.

Miller's nostalgia about it all actually makes him get out his GameBoy Colour from time to time to play Pokemon Blue. The game is simple. The graphics are basic. But goddamn if it isn't the purest sense of fun you can have playing a game, despite VR and everything else that's ever come out since.

I'm tearing up... I miss Pokemon.
