[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Orange County Otters vs. Arizona Outlaws: Preseason Week 1[/div]
Since this is the first game for each team in the newly formed NSFL each team will be looking to make their imprint on the league. We will get our first glimpse at how the teams will look on the field and the chemistry that the new teammates have developed in training camp.
What to Watch For
Orange County QB Battle
The biggest storyline of the game will be how the Otters handle their three-headed monster at QB. Ethan Hunt, Mike Boss, and Josh Bercovici will likely all see playing time at QB, but it will be interesting to see how the reps are split. It could even give us our first glimpse of who is the front-runner in this battle. This is the first real chance they have to distance themselves from their competition with their play on the field. If one of the quarterbacks has a hot start, will they be kept in for longer than the Otters originally planned or will they still split reps? Will the QBs all find success against what some in the league consider one of the weaker secondaries in the league?
Mayran Jackson Playing Desire
It was no secret on draft night that starting Arizona Outlaws free safety Mayran Jackson had no desire to be drafted by the team. However, since being drafted he has said all the right things and made all the right moves. Keep an eye on how he plays on the field tonight though. Some consider preseason games meaningless, but there is no doubt that the first preseason game in the inaugural season carries a little more weight than any regular preseason game. Undoubtedly he has the talent, tonight we will get our first look at if he has bought into the Outlaws 100% or not.
Jayce Tuck Added Weight
Defensive end Jayce Tuck recently came back from training in an isolated forest. Tuck was drafted weighing 288lbs but has since added nearly 20lbs of muscle and is now tipping the scales at 306lbs. Look to see if this added weight has slowed Tuck down a step or if it has just added to his already formidable strength.
UDFA Gregor Clegaine
In a league that is desperate for offensive line talent, teams are willing to look anywhere for a contributor. The Otters went all the way Casterly Rock to find undrafted free agent Gregor Clegaine. The 6’5”, 350lb offensive lineman has been described as a “Mountain” by some in the league. Clegaine definitely has a mean-streak in him and he will be attacking defenders at the line of scrimmage. In a preseason game like this, it is important to build chemistry amongst the o-line, so look to see how Clegaine works with the Otters’ bookend tackle, Angus Winchester.
Keys to the Game
-Build team chemistry
-Stick to the gameplan
-Identify mistakes
Score Prediction
20 - 17
