Howdy there folks. It's League Dad Adam here to give you a rundown on how each of the significant draft picks compare ot their historical counterpats.
Well that's not exactly clear.
Holy shit. Purple heckling commentary voice from within my brain! It's been a while.
I've been busy. A lot of stuff to do. had a baby actually, a lovely light purple font tha-
Ho ho holy shit that's way too far to go for this joke so why don't we stick to the topic at hand?
You're an asshole. Don't care about anyone do you?
I mean..you're fictional. Nothing you have is real.
Wow. Why you gotta be that way? Fine...even though I'm pretty sure this is just an excuse to say whoever was drafted at #15 isn't as good as you.
Anyway. Let's get into it.
#1 Ricky Ramero, Linebacker, Colorado Yeti
The Yeti had the first pick.
Don't even pretend that you don't want to say "again". You know goddamn well you do.
You know, when I became a parent I got calmer and more forgiving. But yes, the Yeti had the first pick again. And they added an extremely talented linebacker and a really active dude in Ramero. He's already shown himself to be someone who fully embraced the madness of sim sports, became a DSFL GM, and built a pretty damn good player. The question is, how does he stack up among his #1 overall peers? Well, let's take a look
Season 1- JJ Reigns
Season 2- Dermot Lavelle
Season 3- Antonio Sandoval
Season 4- Noah Goodson
Season 5- Carlito Crush
Season 6- Brian Mills
Season 7- Howard Miller
He's already surpassed Reigns. I doubt anyone will argue that. With his current trajectory, he looks to easily overshoot the slow building Goodson and the guy who picked him, Sandoval. I think he sits in with Crush, Miller, and Mills as people who very clearly live up to the #1 pick status. Dermot will of course be difficult to catch. Dermot will most likely retire with the most TPE of any NSFL player ever and several records.
#2 William Harrison, Safety, New Orleans Second Line
The Second Line's second second pick....and no that wasn't a typo-
You DO need to warn people with your typing.
-is Safety William Harrison. Another big earner who's really stepped into the NSFL world and shown his willingness to be a big part of the team that drafted him. So how does he stack up wiht the historical #2s?
Heheheehehehe
Shut up. Actually..no..you're right. Heheeheheehe.
Season 1- Josh Garden
Season 2- Blaster Blade
Season 3- Godfrey King
Season 4- Blackford Oakes
Season 5- Andre Bly Jr.
Season 6- Cordell Joshua
Season 7- Verso L'Alto
Well, let's state the obvious.
Jiggly is kinda wierd.
WTF dude. Like..I mean yeah. It's not like it's a secret. Dude embraces the shit out of it. Still though. Is that really appropriate here?
Yesssssssssss?
NO.
Agree to disagree.
What I was going to say was that the #2 pick has clearly panned out better than #1 historically. Harrison has more pressure, arguably, to live up to than Ramero does. And he steps into shoes previously filled by Jaylon Broxton aka Poopyface Tomatonose, who took over the CoGM spot for the Otters. Those are big shoes to fill in addition to living up to the people on this list. If he approaches the kind of effort he put in during his DSFL stint, he'll pass up Blade and Garden, who are the position's weak spots. Imagine Josh Garden being called a weak spot.
#3 Brad Pennington, QB, San Jose Sabercats
With the coming retirement of Chris Orosz, the Cats look to the future as they get the best of the Ads to be their future QB............what..nothing to say about the Ads there Purple?
Nah. I like them. And Logan.
I feel like that shouldn't be a surprise. Regardless, Br-
Did you realize regardless and irregardless mean the same thing?
.........Brad is a very active user, part of the rookie mentor team, and someone who looks like he's gonna be aorund for a good long while. He entered as a sim league vet with his "brothers" to much controversy and character attention and has fully settled into the league. Let's look at his competition.
Season 1- Phillip Carter
Season 2- Tim Pest
Season 3- Brice Boggs
Season 4- Haruki Ishigawa
Season 5- John Wachter
Season 6- Dwayne Aaron
Season 7- Vladimir Fyodorovich
Well, I guess it makes things a little easier when you're going against a multi, two players who retired within 4 seasons, and an inactive since almost day 1. Right away I'd list the rookie QB above Pest due to his whole not actually being real thing. Carter as well for generally being so far gone that the recreate is on the verge of retirement. Boggs has also recreated as one of Brad's competitors among the new age QB class. On the other side few the coin, Vlad heads the rookie team, Aaron is a GM, and Ishigawa is an HO member. This seems to be the pick of fail hard/succeed hard. Which will Brad be? I lean toward success.
#4 Childish Gambino, DE, Baltimore Hawks
i think it says something about this draft class that the top 4 really could've gone in any order and no one could have really complained. The Hawks are in a great position to take advantage of that, given their recent issues that led to a complete overhaul in management.
Plus SLM is just better than everyone else. In the league.
That is....not a statement I'm gonna argue with. Gambino joins some of the others in their youth movement as Baltimore works to get better and at least kind of on the young side. In addition to this they later added Budda Browning, despite at least one person's inability to pronounce Budda. But let's take a peek at the historical competition.
Season 1- Alexander Selich
Season 2- Vincent Sharpei
Season 3- Benson Bayley
Season 4- Steven O'Sullivan
Season 5- Dean Jackson
Season 6- Norman Bagwell
Season 7- Mark Grau
The San Jose Memorial Draft Pick...
I mean.......you're not wrong per se. It's another mixed bag grouping for sure though. On one end you get Bayley, Sharpei, and Jackson who have really elevated their positions. Grau is still in the DSFL. The others are.....a thing. I feel like Gambino easily slides into the upper echelons of this without even taking an NSFL snap. He's very involved, and a great figure around the league. He's so helpful that i accidentally tagged him as a rookie mentor for like 5 minutes earlier today before I realized he wasn't one.
Well yeah. you're drun-
I WAS NOT DRUNK AT THE TIME. FUCK YOU INNER VOICE.
Keep it down. Lilac is sleeping.
Okay..no bullshit..that's a great name.
Thank you.
#6 Ben Horne, Linebacker, San Jose Sabercats
tHIS IS AN INTERESTING ONE. dOUG IS A QUIET DUDE BUT DEFINITELY PUTS WORK INTO HIS CHARACTER. I...am not fixing that.
Drunk ass motherfucker.
I've heard that they really really liked him and had great private communication with him, which is what matter sin the end. You're locker room sees more of you than the rest of the league does 95% of the time. I mean.I'm pretty sure about 75% of PBE doesn't even realize I'm there. Horney could end up being a quiet success for the San Jose rebuild. How does he fare against the others sixes though?
Season 1- Mayran Jackson
Season 2- Gregor Clegane
Season 3- Julian O'Sullivan
Season 4- Trey Lonzac
Season 5- Gregory Fletcher
Season 6- Austin Roenick
Season 7- Desta Danger
Wait. Do you realize you skipped an entire pick and fucked up some of the order entirely?
Yesssssss?
K. Carry on.
Mostly a tough crew to contend with here. Other than Lonzac, this is a high achieving pantheon right here. Possibly the most consistent first round grouping. IN my unquesitonable opinion-
You skipped an entire draft pick.
-Fuck you. This is going to be the most difficult situation to live up to past successes.
That is barely goddamn English my dude. Slow down on the bourbon.
Fuck you. Double pay for this.
Wait...double pay?
Yeah. Anything draft related.
Oh shit. Get that fuck money yo.
You know that's right.
#7 Omar Wrong, DT, New Orleans Second Line
The recreate of Omar Wright, aka Dave looks to be a solid fit among a formidable Nola defense that looks on the verge of greatness. With a really good defensive set behind him and a burgeoning top flight offense, Wrong steps into a great position to thrive in.
Little bit friendly to your own team, aren't you?
I mean..am I wrong here? Up and coming QB, huge RB signing in Smallwood, best TPE combo of top two WRs?
No. You're good. I'm just upping the word count here now that I know it's double pay.
If Wrong steps in with any kind of enthusiasm, he's a contender for Rookie of the Year. Since the team lost it's main graphics person over the offseason, he could also be helpful to the team there too. Let's look at the other #7s.
Season 1-Reg Mackworthy
Season 2- Fox North
Season 3- Ricardo Sandoval
Season 4- Andrew Waiters
Season 5- Ryan Sierra
Season 6- Borro Gore
Season 7- Ryan Applehort
One shoe in for the Hall of Fame, a few contributors, and not much else. Pending Appplesmurf's rise of course.
Wafflefort
Crapplesnot
Wndlemuffin
Applehearts
Applivitz
Applebratz
Snappinparts
Laughlehort
Crapplefart
Heehee. I like that one. Anyway that's the big competition fro Wrong. Given his past some may be leery, but if he can step in and bring it, Omar could go down as a top three draft pick at the #7 spot.
#8 Brock Weathers III, Linebacker, Philadelphia
Aka the "Durden didn't want to play here even though they're the champions" pick. Is that fair to BW3? Not really. Could've easily been picked almost anywhere in the top 5 and it would've made sense. But here we are. the champs start refilling the coffers with future talent. Weathers is in a pretty good situation and looks to be someone how can take advantage of that position to keep moving towards being a really great player. But how does he compare?
Man..your analysis just gets worse as you go along.
That's every article ever written on this site.
Fair enough.
Season 1- Gabriel Tenzini
Season 2- Micah Hendrix
Season 3- Franklin Harris Jr
Season 4- Shawn Ariel
Season 5- Tegan Atwell
Season 6- Elvin Enchant
Season 7- Mason Brown
Well, it's not the most difficult group to be compared to. I mean, realistically we have one really average player in Atwell, and what I think was one good player in Hendrix. I dunno, he erased the history on the way out.
You are not letting that one go.
Nope. Realistically, Weathers has a very very good chance of being the best #8 pick in league history if he can step in and perform at a solid level for a few seasons at minimum. It's easily the weakest position in round 1, which admittedly is kinda what it's supposed to be.
And there we have it.
Most of it anyway. You straight up skipped poor Chad.
Well..he could've been better and this wouldn't have happened.
If you were more sober it wouldn't have happened.
Also true. Good night everybody. Double pay!
Well that's not exactly clear.
Holy shit. Purple heckling commentary voice from within my brain! It's been a while.
