S8 draftee in playoffs and Conf MVP sigs
Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else. Can be completed at any point
I dont believe any team was robbed of making the playoffs this year. This might actually be the first ever season where you can say everyone that made the playoffs did deserve to make the playoffs. This is phenomenal, speaking of phenomenal stuff Tokyo Ghoul is a phenomenal anime. You should watch it. Back to the National Simulation Football League though, which really needs to be changed as it is spelled out as NSFL. And we all know what NSFL means. Anyways, the only one you might have an argument for is the Yeti. But they had control of their own destiny the final few weeks of the season and failed Boo hoo for those losers, #YetiChokingNoises. I believe the yeti may never win the Ultimus in their entire history as an organisation. Maybe they should change cities and relocate, I dont know might work out better for them. I need to come up with 50 more words to reach the word count, please dont deduct tpe its like 100 degrees and 12 am and im sweating and dying. Hawks gonna win the ultimus next season though trust me. Im an expert with that shit, you gotta believe me. Yo Les noobs.
Playoff Series MVP
The Playoff Series MVP for me is easily runningback Robby Rainey (@AzhekAhriman) for the Yellowknife Wraiths vs. Baltimore Hawks in the NSFC playoffs. The Wraiths already run a very unique offense that isn't common compared to all other teams in the NSFC and Rainey was averaging about 3.8 yards per carry in the regular season which barely edged out quarterback Matt Akselsen. The Wraiths had a tough time in the first half and simply couldn't get anything done going into the end of the first half 21-7. However, it all started with Robby Rainey and his 3 yard run in the beginning of the 3rd quarter that lit the spark to help the Wraiths claw their way back from the clutches of defeat. After a Kennedy touchdown, the Wraiths were closing the gap and it was Rainey's last two touchdowns that helped the team come back from near defeat in the fourth quarter. Rainey was simply unstoppable in the red zone as the Hawk defense struggled to stop the run against the Wraiths unique spread offense. Rainey would end the game with 11 rushing attempts for 33 yards and 3 touchdowns. His performance this game was remarkable and it solidified him as one of the league's top runningbacks given his ability to consistently perform under pressure. This was illustrated in his remarkable red zone performance against the Hawks giving the Wraiths their first ever trip to the Ultimus. Championship Game Recap For the first time in quite a few seasons, the Orange County Otters were not the favorites to win the Ultimus having barely lost to the upstarts from New Orleans. The young Second Line team completed second in the ASFC with a 9-5 record, but managed to defeat the Otters to make their first Ultimus appearance. The Wraiths have struggled in past seasons missing out on numerous chances to make their mark by losing continuously in the NSFC playoffs. This season was different and the Wraiths were able to finally make their way to the Ultimus for a first time appearance as well. The best play from the championship game came from Robby Rainey again. Just as he did in the NSFC playoff game, Rainey's play at the end of the first quarter sparked the scoring runs for the Wraiths as they confidently sailed to a 24-13 victory. Rainey's first touchdown that set off the spark was just towards the end of the first quarter after a long drive from the Wraiths starting at their 7 yard line. It was several rushes and a great reception by Rainey to put the Wraiths in striking distance at the 2:36 mark to get 10 yards for a first down. After that, a Bailey Cook completion for 24 yards put Rainey in the position to do what he does best. That Magic Moment The ASFC playoff game provided quite the magic moment as we saw the 9-5 New Orleans Second Line narrowly defeat the long standing powerhouse in Orange County. Home field advantage be damned as the young Second Line team held the led over the Otters for most of the game until the fourth quarter when a Burnsman 3 yard run tied it up 17-17 at 2:37. The magic moment of the playoffs came soon after that. Borkus Maximus III completed several key passes and the outstanding rushing by Bubba Nuck provided the fuel for New Orleans to make one last stand and write their name into the history books. As they edged closer and closer to the field, time was winding down for New Orleans to score and they got themselves to the Otters 29 yard line. Peg Leg stepped up to the field and angled his kick just perfectly to score a 46 yard field goal which sailed inside the post just a hair enough to be good. With only 10 seconds left after that successful kick, it was a done deal and the Otters could not make a return for a touchdown in the final play of the game. Hate the player or the game The race in the ASFC wasn't close by any stretch of imagination. It was known that San Jose would be tanking this season and bottomed out in the league at 1-13 and the Outlaws struggled to string any meaningful victories down the last half of the season so no one was going to dispute Orange County and New Orleans playoff spots. However, the NSFC remains hotly contested and this season was no different. Despite tanking mid season, the Liberty finished the season with a 7-7 record and tied their long standing rivals in Baltimore. The deciding factor came with Baltimore having more points for at 403 to 387. If the fire sale in Philadelphia hadn't occurred before week 10, it's easy to see that the Liberty would have easily made it to the NSFC playoffs again and possibly beat out the Wraiths as they lucked into the Ultimus last season with Yellowknife's epic choke. Obviously many other factors come into play, but one thing remains certain...Baltimore didn't deserve to be in the playoffs in the first place. They were simply gifted a spot because the Liberty decided to tank for the future and to rebuild much earlier than their division rivals.
Robbed: Write about why a team that failed to make the playoffs should have over somebody else. Can be completed at any point
The Colorado Yeti were robbed of the playoffs and this why. The yeti are coming off 32 consecutive losses went on a 6-6 streak during the final 2 games of the season. The Baltimore Hawks went 7-7 while the Yeti went 6-8. However, there were many trades made throughout the season, and if those had been in place at the beginning of the season, the Yeti Would have had the chance to beat the New Orleans Second Line twice, the Arizona Outlaws, the Philadelphia Liberty, and the Orange County Otters. Sure, some of those teams were quite good, but the Yeti lost to the otters by three and gained a large upgrade on their defensive line at the trade deadline. If they could have gained two of those five wins, the Yeti would be in the playoffs and would have the chance to go to the ultimus for the first time since season 1. Even 1 win would put the Yeti in the playoffs, which is totally plausible. And even if the Yeti would have made the playoffs, their draft position would nt have changed as they did not own their own pick until the 4th round. And thats why the yeti should be in the playoffs. That Magic Moment: Show one of the most exciting points in a game. (Must be completed after the game you write about ) Future Talent: Make a sig for a S8 player who you feel will or did make a large impact for their team in the playoffs. Can be written at any time depending on if you choose to write about who already has or who will do good Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game The season 8 playoffs were a wonderful sight. The New Orleans Second Line have finally made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, and have now pushed the Colorado Yeti to being the longest drought of missing the playoffs. They took the otters to the ropes in the first round of the playoffs. The game went back and forth all game, but came down to the Leg of Journeyman kicker Peg Leg who nails a 46 yarder with 10 seconds left on the clock. The otters did not have the time to mount a comeback and the second line continue their undefeated playoff record to the ultimus. in the NSFC, the Wraiths take on the Hawks who just barely squeaked into the playoffs and struggled early, falling to a 21-0 defeceit, but behind the arm of Mat Akelseson, The Wraiths scored 38 of the final 41 points, demoralizing the Hawks on their way to the Ultimus. In the matchup between the Wraiths and the Second Line, The Wraiths grabbed the lead at the end of the first quarter and would not let go. The kept a good distance between them and the second line, and rode the momentum to their first Ultimus win in Franchise history after failing year after year in the playoffs.
Robbed: This year was supposed to be a year of fate and destiny for the Colorado Yeti. Some big upsets here and there got us in the position to be in the playoffs for the first time since the Season 1 playoffs. It has been a rough rebuild for the Yeti, but a win against the Outlaws and some wins against the Hawks and Otters put them in the running. There were some slight missteps that ended up keeping them out of the playoffs for the year. A win against the Outlaws the week after their drought breaking win could have put them in, as well as a home loss against the Otters that kept them out. If they had just not blown that lead we would be looking at a completely different playoff situation. Of course though, in the end it came down to one game and they choked it. Still a young team, they were unable to defeat the Baltimore Hawks, in a winner gets in game. In the end, the better team did make it though. However, this fiery push by the Yeti is sure to lead them to great things in the future. Look for this robbery to become a dynasty.
That Magic Moment: The magic moment of this playoffs had to be the amazing kick by Peg Leg to send the New Orleans Second Line into the Ultimus Game by beating the Orange County Otters. The Otters were the most recent dynasty of the league, winning three straight Ultimus games just 2 seasons ago. No one expected the recently rebuilding Second Line to take the game. It was a rough road for the Second Line, from the immediate failure as the Las Vegas Legion, to the mass retirement, to the rebrand, all leading up to this moment. As Leg swung back his, well, leg to kick in the game winning field goal with just 10 seconds left, everyone was on the edge of their seats. And when it went in, the millions of Second Line fans, or people rooting for the underdog, at home went crazy. In contrast, the Orange County fans in the stadium went silent. They couldn't believe their eyes. Arguably the greatest QB of all time, Mike Boss, was stunned on the sidelines. A last ditch effort by the Otters to win on a Jordan Yates run was stopped, and the Second Line went crazy. All because of Peg Leg. Going to Disneyland!:The MVP of the Ultimus Game was without a shadow of a doubt Eric Kennedy. He absolutely tore the Second Line Secondary (someone should make a nickname for them. I don't know what, but something working Second Line and Second-ary together) to shreds. On only 5 catches he went for 116 yards for an average of 23.2 yards per reception. He also scored a vital touchdown that really put the Wraiths in the driver's seat which they would retain for the rest of the game, I will talk more about that later. But as for his trip to Disneyworld, it was nothing special. The obvious parades and such. But his choice to attend Disneyworld Animal Kingdom ended up being an odd experience for him. He found himself disliking the Everest Expedition ride, he didn't like the Yeti. He also did not like the Otter exhibit. The birds made him mad at some parts, reminded him too much of the Hawks. Fortunately for Eric, there were no SaberCats there, no Second Line (whatever that would be) and no one stole from him, so he did not have to deal with any Outlaws. Overall, he enjoyed himself. But he can never escape his NSFL rivals. Championship Game Recap: The absolute and hands down best play of the Ultimus Game belongs to Eric Kennedy, as I mentioned before. He was clearly the Ultimus MVP in my opinion and a big part of that was his 3rd quarter touchdown that completely shifted the momentum of the game. With 12:53 left in the 3rd Quarter, on the Wraiths first drive of the half, he caught the ball and took it all the way in for a 36 yard touchdown catch. Kennedy is known to make big and clutch plays, and this was no exception. It changed the game from a one score 14-10 lead, to a 2 score 21-10 lead. The Wraiths would then score a field goal later in the quarter to make it a 14 point lead. It set the momentum in their favor. They put their foot on the gas pedal and never stopped going until they were Ultimus Champs. And you really have to hand it all to the success of Eric Kennedy. That one play changed the outcome of the entire game in my opinion and without it I am not even sure that the Wraiths would be the champs. It is for these reasons that was the best play of the game |
