The Tijuana Luchadores have dominated the first month of the DSFL season, coming out undefeated in their first 4 games including road games against the Portland Pythons and San Antonio Marshalls. The Luchadores have played extremely well in all facets including leading the league in passing, being third in rushing but second among non bot teams, and giving up the second fewest points so far defensively.
Here's what Tijuana’s second overall pick and starting full back Achilles Hondo had to say about the team's season so far:
“It's been awesome, this team just works together so well both on the field and in the locker room. Of course expectations were high for us after winning the Ultimini last season, but I don't think anyone expected us to come out and dominate like this, ‘specially with three road games to start. Look I ain't gonna predict we go undefeated or nothing, but tell me who's going to be able to stop us. This offense is straight lethal right now both running and passing. It's like a work of art. As for myself there's a lot I still have to do in order to live up to where I was picked and to help us win. It's tough you know cause there's not really anyone to help you learn how to play fullback. The only guys to ever really do it are Petrakis and a young Eric Kennedy and for the most part I'm still a very different player than they were and no offense but they didn't have the most successful careers as fullbacks. There's still a ton I have to learn, especially in terms of blocking and we knew it wouldn't come together as quickly for me as it does for guys at a lot of positions. My only hope is that I'll be ready to make a big impact by the time we cakewalk into the playoffs. I'm learning, I'm working hard it will get there eventually. You know that saying America wasn't built in a day and hey you know what neither was I, it took like 9 months. So if you think about it I'm actually doing pretty well for how far I've come since the draft. Everyone else on offense has looked great, especially the Rickys so I hope I can do everything I can to help push them to be their best. Love this team and can't wait to see how far we can push ourselves this season.”
