Sit down with Turk Turkleton

1. After all those tantalizingly close tries and always falling short, Baltimore finally reigns victorious and gets to lift the Ultimus Trophy high above their heads. How was that feeling for you?

It was one of the greatest feelings I have ever felt. You work day in and day out to be the best you can, all the hours of training and team bonding that I have done by myself and the lads finally all came together.
It's the piece of silver ware that just awards you for all those hours you have spent doing what you love. Like you said we have come close in the past and each time you think to yourself, 'this has got to be the one'. Our time to win it has to come eventually.
Here we are finally. I am very happy to have been a part of the first Hawks squad to win the cup and I hope to be part of more.

2. Do you think Baltimore will have to start rebuilding or do you think you guys can keep grinding out playoff appearances?

We have some key stone pieces retiring this season, but I think we are still in a very good shape to be competing for cups in the future. There is an excellent squad in Baltimore currently and I think we are hungry for more after the cup win we just had.

3. Which non-playoff team are you most afraid of playing against this upcoming season?

I feel like the Wraiths are always good and those cold away games in Yellowknife can always be so unpredictable in how they play out.

4. Is it true that Angus Winchester will be playing Fat Bastard in a new Austin Powers reboot?

Not sure I am allowed to talk about this subject, but I might be able to confirm that a certain player will indeed play a role in a certain reboot. NSFL stars and movies seem to be a trend and I can definatly see more and more players being casted for roles.

Playoff Series MVP: in the Ultimus Game, there were many Baltimore Hawks that made their case to be the MVP of the game. Turk Turkelton was a monster, kicking 4 field goals and 2 extra points. Avon Blocksdale threw for 383 yards. Owen Taylor rushed for 123. But I’m going to give the MVP to the feel good story of the playoffs. Carter Bush was trapped on the Philadelphia Liberty, performing well, but being stuck on a bad team. He was moved to the Hawks on deadline day, and he made that move worth it for Baltimore. Bush had a team high 7 receptions in the Ultimus game for 102 yards. Bush was consistently open, and was a big reason the Hawks didn’t let the game get out of hand early with his first quarter touchdown. The 33 yard score made the score 10-7 and seemed to wake the Hawks up. As a result, he was a key contributor to the 4 straight field goal scoring drives that would eventually give the Hawks the lead. Bush’s play was a big factor in the Hawks’ Ultimus victory. In a game that gave us many potential MVPs, Carter Bush, to me, was the best player on the field this time around. (210)

Championship Game Recap: The S10 Ultimus Bowl pitted the defending champion New Orleans Second Line against the Baltimore Hawks. The Hawks came into the game off a 13-1 season, looking to win their first title. The Second Line was second best with an 11-3 record. What would end up transpiring would be a hell of a title game. New Orleans would opening the scoring with an early field goal to go up 3-0. But they didn’t stop there. Charlie Law would score an 8 yard touchdown 6 minutes later to give NOLA a 10-0 lead. The Hawks would strike back on the next drive, as Carter Bush, acquired at the trade deadline, would cut the lead to 10-7 with a touchdown of his own before the first quarter ended. Not to be out done, the Second Line would get a touchdown of their own from their trade deadline acquisition, as Carlito Crush would grab an 8 yard score to make it 17-7 NOLA. The defenses would reign supreme for the rest of the half, as Baltimore would stifle the New Orleans offense the rest of the half. Baltimore would drive into the red zone 3 more times in the second quarter, but the Second Line would not allow a touchdown, and the Hawks would settle for 3 field goals, and a 17-16 deficit at the half. Baltimore would open the second half with another field goal, taking a 19-17 lead. New Orleans would soon gain the lead back on a Maximus to Leclair TD. Peg Leg missed the extra point, so it would be 23-19. Baltimore would answer quickly, on a Trey Willie TD that would give the Hawks a 26-23 lead. Baltimore would add another field goal, and that would end the scoring at 29-23, Baltimore wins. (298)

Playoff Review: In the first round of the playoffs, the ASFC title game was played between the defending champion New Orleans Second Line and the Orange County Otters. These two teams have played quite a few barnburners in the past, but this wasn’t one of them. Neither offense could get anything going for themselves, as the Otters had only a 3-0 lead at halftime. New Orleans would finally break through in the third quarter, with a Smallwood TD. Peg Leg would add a field goal, and the Second Line would win 10-3. In the NSFC the Baltimore Hawks would take on the Colorado Yeti. These teams would battle it out, back and forth, trading scores until the 4th quarter where finally Colorado couldn’t answer a Baltimore score, and instead threw a pick 6 that’d give the Hawks a 34-21 lead. Colorado would cut it to 34-28, but couldn’t score again. In the Ultimus, New Orleans would jump out to a 10-0 lead. The Hawks would cut it to 10-7 before, Crush would score for NOLA to give the Second Line the 17-7 lead. Baltimore would kick 4 straight field goals to get a 19-17 lead. New Orleans would score again to go up 23-19. However, the Hawks would score the game’s final 10 points to win the Ultimus 29-23. (219)

Turk Turkleton gets to go to fucking Disneyland, wooptie fucking doo. So he gets to fly all the way from absolutely insane ass Baltimore to Florida and goes to the most magical place on earth and you will never guess who he gets to fucking meet when he got there. All his favorite charachters from all his favorite disney movies, charchters like, the little mermaid, Donald Duck, Goofy, Princess Jasmine, Buzz Lightyears, Thumper from the bambi movies, Huey, Dewey, but not louie, because his actor had the flu and stayed at home sick and they couldnt find someone to replace the actor, Captain Hook, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Toulouse, Mister Smee, Dopey, Doc, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Evil Queen, Gus Gus, Fairy Godmother, Pinocchio from the 1940 film named Pinocchio, Honest John and also Gideon, Queen Elinor, Flynn Rider, Baloo, Simba, Robin Hood, Sherrif of Nottingham, Pongo, Winnie the Pooh, Kanga & Roo, Li Shang, Belle and the Beast, Timothy Q Mouse, Esmeralda, Lilo and Stitch and even Zazu from the Lion King movies. It was truely a wonderful day for Turk Turkleton and his whole family who he had brought along with him on this magical journey. Sitting down with sunnycursed:

1. Losing is never fun and losing in the cup match is heartbreaking. How did you feel after the playoff loss against the Luchadores?

1. Yeah that was a rough game for sure. Its hard getting over those big losses and i feel like what really killed us in the end was penalties. I think we just have to come back next season and try our hardest once again, and hopefully I will be back down in the DSFL to go for the redemption

2. How do you feel about your first full season in the DSFL? Did you play to your expectations?

2. I think I played pretty well. People might look at my stats negatively but I think I was one of the best players in the league. I may have only been 8th in yards, but i was first in yards per catch with anyone who had 5 or more catches. We were a team with a lot of wideouts. Hasselhoff was the favorite target but I still believe i was the better target.

3. With the NSFL draft coming up how do you feel about the draft? Where do you expect to see yourself go?

3. I am very confident I will go in the first round. Arizona is a team I have a lot of history with, Baltimore has expressed tons of interest, even Orange County and New Orleans have called. As for exacts, I have no clue where I'll go.

4. Would you categorize a hotdog as a sandwich?

4. Yeah, its like, a super disappointing open face sandwich

Playoff Series MVP:

In the NSFC Championship, there were a whole bunch of offensive studs as the game seemed like it was turning into a shootout. My MVP is kind of a dark horse candidate, as he went largely unnoticed for the majority of the game. Normally that would mean a player had little to no impact on the game, but in this case I am referring to a defensive back. Specifically I am talking about Vikian Marmeladov. He's sitting right at the bottom of the stat chart on the defensive side of the match up, which is exactly what you want from the guy who's job is to prevent people from catching the ball. He didn't technically allow any completions in coverage, which means his coverage was tight enough to scare off Applehort from looking his way the majority of the time. This would prove to be the right decision, as on the other target, Marmeladov had an interception and took it to the house. Not only was this a pick six, but it was essentially the nail in the coffin for the Yeti, as it put the Hawks up two scores in the 4th quarter with only 10 minutes left in the game.

Playoff Review:

The playoffs this year were very different from the playoffs I remember from the beginning. But in some ways, they were relatively similar. It's nice to see a new mix of teams going for the championship, and it seems the games are much more competitive. In the NSFC championship, we had the Hawks versus the Yeti. Everyone expected the Hawks to start racking up the points early and often, but what I'm not sure that everyone expected the Yeti to hang right in there with them. This game was as much of a shootout as I have ever seen in the NSFL. With both offences firing on all cylinders, and both defenses struggling to keep them in check, I was sure we were heading for some overtime. That is until Marmeladov grabbed a pick six and the Yeti couldn't quite recover in time. They did score on their next drive, but the Hawks ran out the clock to get to the Ultimus.

The ASFC championship was much the opposite. A real slog-fest, with both offences stalling out over and over again. The biggest play in the game was a 48 yard return, which means the fastest thing in this game was the clock, thank god.

The Ultimus was a fun time. Lots of excitement. Again two high powered offences, and arguable some of the best defenses in the league as well. The thought stuck in my head as I left the game was quite simple: Why did New Orleans run on 4th and 11? Bork was killing it and averaging almost 13 yards per completion, and almost 9 per pass. Heck, Bork could have even run it himself, as he had been very successful with that throughout the game. But instead they gave it to Smallwood, a successful rusher in his own right, but a player who had been averaging one of his worst games in terms of YPC. In the end he didn't make it and the Hawks were able to run out the clock to take home the Ultimus trophy.

That Magic Moment:

The magic moment has to be the one I have already referenced twice in my previous pieces, the Vikian Marmeladov pick six in the fourth quarter of the NSFC championship game. To set the full stage, the game had been a massive shootout, with every score by one team being answered in kind by the other. After forcing the Hawks to settle for a field goal in the 2nd quarter, the Yeti had positioned themselves in the lead by driving down and scoring a touchdown. The Hawks were able to answer with their own touchdown and then are held to another field goal. Down 6, the Yeti need to drive down the field and score to regain the lead. A 31 yard return started them out in a good field position, and a huge 28 yard reception on 3rd down put them in field goal position to at least bring the game a bit closer should they fail to convert another set of downs. First down, incomplete. Second down, sack. Third down, magic time. Applehort steps back, looking for an open man, sees his running back Grau ready to grab the ball and get them the yardage to continue the drive. Out of nowhere, Marmeladov jumps the route, grabs the ball, and shakes his tackles to make his way 63 yards down the field for a touchdown! This is the play that all but guarantees the Hawks make it to the Ultimus. It was a huge play at an important moment from a player who had gone essentially unnoticed through most of the game up until this point.

Unsung Hero:

The unsung hero of the playoffs was Baltimore Hawks running back, Owen Taylor. Though maybe not his best pair of games statistically, it was his constant production that allowed him to keep the chains moving and the Hawks in the game. He was able to accrue 530 all purpose yards, with 317 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. This means that through two games, Taylor averaged 4.4 yards per carry and 7 yards per catch. I took the liberty of doing a bunch of different math with this which says that he could have been used exclusively to win games. Factoring for drops and broken up passes, every time Taylor touched the ball on offence, he gained 4.7 yards on average. If we account for incomplete passes involving him, that only goes down by half a yard on average. This means, any time it was determined that the ball was going to Taylor, he would gain over 4 yards. Any team would kill for a player who can basically guarantee at least 4 yards anytime they touch the ball. On top of all of that, Taylor was killer in his return game for the Ultimus Championship. With 5 returns for 180 yards, he made absolutely sure that they had good to great starting field position for every drive he could. He also contributed 11 first downs to his team to keep drives alive. Taylor didn't have his best games statistically for this playoff series (59 carries/261 yards, 16 targets/8 receptions/56 yards, 1 Rec TD), but he definitely made an impact on the Hawks offence and helped them keep the chains moving on their road to an Ultimus trophy.

Playoff Review
If you're a fan of giant match-ups - and I'm sure most of us are - the Season 10 NSFL Playoffs was a must-see event. With a couple of juggernaut teams, one in either conference, the final was a showdown that seemed to be a full season in the making. While the Baltimore Hawks and New Orleans Second Line seemed destined to meet in the final game of the season, it was a meeting we nearly didn't get to see.

Both Conference Championship games were narrow affairs, but both for different reasons. In the NSFC, the dominant Hawks put up huge numbers but were nearly outscored by the Colorado Yeti, who managed to expose the Hawks' defense at times throughout the game. Baltimore proved to be too explosive, though, and finished it out 37-28. In the ASFC, the defending champs in New Orleans won in a defensive slug-fest, winning a 10-3 game that would be exciting for die-hards and not so much for everyone else.

That gave us the big-ticket finale we had been waiting to see all year. The Hawks had one of the great seasons in NSFL history, while the Second Line was looking to repeat as champs. Despite a nearly perfect game from Second Line QB Borkus Maximus III, it was the Baltimore Hawks who were victorious, winning the Ultimus by a single score in a 29-23 final.

Interview with Benson Bayley

1. New Orleans had a terrific regular season, how important was it to avoid a Championship "hangover" and top the ASFC?
"I really am not worried about the hangover. We have been there a few times, we know what it takes to get it done. We have some great leadership presence that should keep everyone in line. There is always that concern, but I would say that we are in a great position yet again."

2. Your ASFC Championship game was a low-scoring affair with a 10-3 final. What are those close, defensive games like to play in?
" They are something if you are a defensive player like myself. It is not the most entertaining for the fans, but seeing everyone drop balls and being able to deflect passes is something we do. Obviously, we celebrate just as much as touchdowns, so I love every second of that. It is important for defenses to have those games because there are many other games that are quite the opposite."

3. The Second Line lost out in the Championship game by a single score. How do you rebound from that?
"It is tough. You need to just do a lot of the same thing. You know, we had the ball driving with the chance to win on the road against a tough team. I tell the guys that we just needed one more play. There are those days. We just need to keep doing more of the same. We were 11-3 for a reason, we need to keep moving, keep building, and keep getting better."

4. How is your team planning to approach the upcoming NSFL draft?
"Well, we have a lot of players either getting older or retiring, so we are looking to target certain positions. One thing that we could see us needing is a Linebacker. That is the core for our defense. Also, we are going to be looking at equipping Maximus with some weapons on offense. With Smallwood, Jackson, Law, and Leclair retiring soon, we are going to need more weapons on offense. On defense, we have a good core, so we really will look to bolster a couple things on defense while going after offensive weapons."

Playoff Series MVP

Turk Turkleton, veteran kicker of 10 seasons for the Baltimore Hawks, accounted for 17 points in the Hawks' 29-23 Ultimus victory, converting all 5 field goal attempts and two extra points. In a game where there were several drives nearly complete, though not quite punched in, Turkleton shone to keep the points rolling in against the New Orleans Second Line offense. In a game that ended with a 6-point victory for Baltimore, Turkleton's consistency from when he was called on helped keep the Hawks at ease and kept the pressure up on New Orleans. Having built up that lead, the final few minutes were made moot once Baltimore gained possession before the two-minute mark.

The Hawks' methodical offense that worked so well all season long kept on rolling in the yards and spread them around, with a 100-yard rusher and two 100-yard receivers for the game. Finishing was an issue as they were well-met with the Second Line defense containing yardage and preventing the score from getting out of hand, though they couldn't prevent the Hawks from getting close. Turkleton proved a key difference, finishing with 3 points on kicks from 29, 20, 28, 40 and 33. A reliable kicker made all the difference in a thriller.

Championship Game Recap

This season's Ultimus was worth the price of admission and the sequel proved better than the original. The New Orleans Second Line came out to a quick start in the Season 9 Ultimus rematch, going up 10-0 in the first 10 minutes of the contest, including an early 33-yard field goal from Peg Leg and Borkus Maximus III hooking up with Charlie Law with goal-to-go. The Baltimore Hawks, resolved to avenge last season's championship defeat, turned around their first touchdown of the game less than 3 minutes later, with Avon Blocksdale hitting Carter Bush and letting him gobble up yards after catch for a 33-yard score.

The Second Line pulled back up by 10 with Maximus to Carlito Crush. The veteran kicker Turk Turkleton kept Baltimore's hopes afloat in turbulent waters heading into halftime with three short-range field goals to make the scoreline 17-16 NOLA at the break.

Baltimore came out swinging from halftime, though once again had to fall back on Turkleton as he was spot-on from 40 for the Hawks to gain their first lead of the game. The lead was short-lived with NOLA going back up 5:01 later from Maximus to Alexandre LeClair. The score remained 23-19 as Peg Leg missed on the extra point. Baltimore quickly answered around two minutes later, going up 26-23 with Blocksdale hitting veteran WR Trey Willie to pull ahead a second time.

The Hawks' defense ground the game to a halt, just as they needed in the 4th, as a field goal early in the quarter put them up 29-23. This factored in well late, as the teams traded drives without yielding any score until NOLA were stopped cold with under two and a half minutes left and in need of a touchdown. Baltimore ran out the clock and exorcised the specters of the season prior as NSFL champions.

That Magic Moment

In the first quarter of the Ultimus, with the Baltimore Hawks down 10-0 early and needing a score fast to keep the game from tail-spinning into Season 9 Ultimus Part Deux, QB Avon Blocksdale was back to pass and under a bit of heat. Then, seeing prime real estate to chew up and a receiver to hop to it, Blocksdale lofted a mid-range pass to wideout Charlie Law, then watched as Law took off down the sideline for a 33-yard touchdown pass. The extra point follow up made it 10-7 New Orleans, though the Hawks were aboard and sparked their offense to fight on and fight deep into NOLA territory that half, even if they didn't score another touchdown until late in the 3rd quarter.

That play was amazing to see Blocksdale able to trust his receivers to pick up yards after the catch and for Law to deliver on a prime opportunity. This play also helped them clear the first major hurdle in the Ultimus - get a touchdown. The offense picked up from there, despite usually stopping short of paydirt, though not so far short, Turk Turkleton couldn't kick them home. This also helped motivate the defense after they went down 17-7 to hold off the vaunted NOLA offense until Baltimore could catch up on the scoreboard. Though they faltered once, they did their job in starting the comeback once the offense ditched the feeling they couldn't score.

Working double duty for the eventual champions, Turk Turkleton is the MVP of the ultimus. Let's review these stats for the proof you need.

As a punter Turkleton gave the Hawks the hidden yardage they needed to pin the NOLA offense in their own territory. He was the defense's best friend today. Not that he was needed much as he only punted four times, however, out of those four punts he averaged 41 yards per punt, with a long of only 49. This means he was consistent and reliable for the Hawks. Three of his punts were touchbacks, but considering every punt was kicked within the opponent's side of the 50 this can be forgiven. His other punt landed inside the 20 but his gunners allowed the returner to gain 11 yards.

Now the real impressive part of Turkleton's game is his kicking. He was perfect. 2/2 on extra points, and 5/5 on field goals. Three of his field goals came inside 30 yards which I guess doesn't sound great but just means he is reliable for the team, and they know if they get into good field position they can rely on him to get them points. He also nailed a forty yard field goal and a thirty three yarder, all in the second half. It was his first half kicks that allowed a struggling offense to stay in it and his second half field goals that propelled them to victory.

Playoff Review: Write a short review of the playoffs and each of the matchups. Must be completed after the Championship Game
Well it was a disappointing playoff for the Wraiths as we weren't in it. Either way let's take a look.

The NSFC championship game was a rematch from S9 and the results were just the same without all of the drama. The Hawks won in a fairly one-sided affair, secure in their self-prescribed fate of NSFL champions. The game started out very evenly with both teams trading touchdowns, and the Hawks going into the half up a field goal. The Hawks really showed what they were made of in the second half, trading touchdowns in the third quarter, and then returning a long interception in the fourth quarter to seal it.

Unsurprisingly the ASFC championship game was also a rematch. The Otters, a dynasty of epic proportions made the playoffs once again against the ASFC favorites, New Orleans. A real defensive effort, the New Orleans Second Line won this game 10-3. Not much to say here really except that New Orleans scored the only touchdown of the game, and that was the difference. A defensive struggle if ever there was one.

Thus we have our third rematch of the playoffs, the Ultimus between the Hawks and Second Line. However, this time the Hawks had the homefield advantage. This proved enough to allow them the victory. It was a hotly contested affair with the Second Line bringing a narrow 17-16 lead into half time. It was not enough, as the Hawks, on the back of star kicker Turk Turkleton pulled away and won the game 29-23. This marks the Hawks first ultimus victory in their franchise history.

1) How do you think your team did this season? What went right/wrong?
I'm not proud of our record, but I'm proud of how we played. Guys like Fitz went from 14 touchdowns 22 interceptions, to 17 touchdowns and 6 INTs. Viggo exploded with 8 touchdowns and 1111 yards. Bucky improved on his performance from last year that got him a defensive rookie of the year award. We've just gotta be able to keep up our level of play throughout the game, and hold on to leads - week 12 in New Orleans comes to mind.

2) How did you think your own player, Dean Jackson, did?
It's really a balance. I came so close to the perfect season and then had that one mistake, and then the last week of the season I just totally fell apart. So, I think I did okay. But there's always improvement to be made.

3) What do you look to improve next season?
I've simply gotta get more consistent. I was consistent for 10 weeks, but I need to be for 14. I'm a professional kicker; I can't be making excuses.

4) Who do you think is the favorite to win it all this postseason in the NSFL?
The Hawks, for sure. Second Line's got a lot going for them, but the Hawks are a nasty-good bunch to play, and in Baltimore? It'll be a tough fight. A close game probably. But if I were a betting man, I'd go Hawks.

That Magic Moment:


That magic moment would have to be the game against the Pythons. Luhca absolutely crushed the Pythons in that game and everyone seemed on par that game. Everyone had to do what they had to do and simply crushed the Pythons. It was the biggest upset in DSFL history and for a good reason. Luhca was on their "A" game for that game and put in where it mattered most to get into the championship. They wanted to be able to try and threepeat and make league history. Everyone was doing what they had to do and they got the job done.

Luhca knew what they had to do. They put on an excellent show and they really showed that they had it took to get into the championship and defend their title for a third time in a row. That is why I think that game was the real magic moment of the season and for sure a magic moment of the entire DSFL championship series. They played really well the rest of the season but for sure during that game. Lucha really was determined to win again and put everything on the line to make sure it happened.

1. For those who do not know - looking at your name people probably assume you're a native of Russia, are you?
Indeed I'm, there has been plenty of Russia natives in the league, I was born in Yakutsk in the cold Siberia and the journey to the NSFL was quite long, including unfortunate College career with just 4 games and entering league through the DSFL waivers.
2. Second Line had a good season with only 3 loses, and then a good playoff run. What do you think could have been done better if anything?
We were the best team and deserved to win it all, I'm rather sure we would emerge victiorious from Ultimus if we had home field advantage. That should have been ours if not for inexplicable away lost game at Orange County and yearly magic that happens at Burial Grounds in Yellownife. It's hard what could might have been done better. I certainly regret how Jayce Tuck was forced into retirement and that we won't see his descendants in the league anymore.
3. How would you rate your own performance this season?
Standard dissapointment of the worst defensive back career in the league. Thankfully it's the last season I'm going to play in that hell of a role and you won't see me as pure CB anymore.
4. Do you think we will see any shift in the teams going for the trophy next season?
Hard to say, league has barely any FA movement and while teams should go through rebuild periods with so frivolous cap space it's easy to be pereniall contender for eternity. I'd be surprised to see different teams fighting for Ultimus next season.

1) You were both the highest scoring (with 4 touchdowns) tight end this season in the DSFL, and had 0 sacks allowed. Do you think you can continue this balanced skillset effectively in the NSFL?

I think I can. While I was in the DSFL, I worked hard with my coaches and General Managers to come up with a plan that I had stuck to for the entire season. I plan to stick to this plan unless my new General Managers have a plan for me, which then I would do whatever they think is best.

2) Are there any NSFL tight ends you look up to, or who you particularly enjoy watching film on to improve you own play?

I'd say Verso L’Alto from Baltimore. That guy is an absolute tank and someone I try to watch video of and learn from. He's an incredible player and someone I can learn a lot from I think.

3) How're you feeling as the draft approaches? Nervous? Excited?

I'm super, super excited for the draft. I have a bunch of teams that I would love to go to. I've heard a lot of good things about teams that I'm excited to experience. It's always fun meeting new guys and getting to play with new people. I've worked really hard in the DSFL to get myself ready and prepared for the NSFL and I think I'm ready to show the league what I got finally. It's going to be a blast and I plan on having a lot of my friends and family around to hear the news when it finally happens.

4) Favorite restaurant in Ilsip, New York? (Your birthplace)

Oh man, favorite restaurant? There is place on Main Street, called Bubba's Burritos. It sounds weird as hell but it is simply the best burrito I have ever had in my life. I can eat those burritos for days if someone let me. Put some of their homemade hot sauce on it, and you'll be on cloud nine man.

The blatant rental trade of Carter Bush from the Philadelphia Liberty to the Baltimore Hawks had a clear and obvious effect. The young wide receiver broke 100 yards on seven receptions in the Season 10 Ultimus, and had his team's first touchdown of the day early in the first quarter. Although the NSFC championship game saw weaker passing attacks, Bush still lodged a team high 78 yards, and was only behind star runningback Owen Taylor in receptions, with six against Taylor's seven. The New Orleans Second Line (who the Baltimore Hawks met and defeated in the Ultimus) also traded for a star receiver from a conference opponent, but it's harder to make an argument for his critical impact because in the championship game, he marked just 5 receptions for 54 yards, good for only third on his team. It's for this reason that the move of Carter Bush to Baltimore before the week 11 games has a strong argument as the single most impactful trade of the season on the playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the number of rental trades continues to increase.

Just look at the stats. They're plain to see: five field goals. Five! Guess what my man, I can do basic math so I know that that's 15 points my bro Turk Turkleton put on the board for the Hawks. Did I mention he also made 2 extra points? Yes fellas that's right, 15 plus 2 equals 17. Turk Turkleton put up 17 of the Baltimore Hawk's 29 points. Without him, they only have 12 points. The New Orleans Second Line scored 23 points... 23 is more than 12. But 23 isn't more than 12 plus 17 (which equals 29). Are you understanding what I'm selling, and will you buy it??? Turk Turkleton, the man the myth the legend, also punted 4 times for an average of- oh just 41 yards. That's not great. But, he did have...! 0 inside the 20. I feel like my argument for the kicker unsung hero fell apart in punting last season too. Oh well. Turkleton is, at worst, MY hero. Love you bby
