Bubba Thumper's entire career arc, prior to reaching the DSFL, centered around one critical statistic: tackles for loss. Since entering the DSFL, however, the same numbers he put up in high school and college have been difficult to come by, and he does not have a single tackle for loss in his NSFL career to date (this is, of course, largely because Mo Berry does all the heavy lifting for the Yeti, but we'll ignore that for the most part). Given a relative lack of success up to this point, the career mark for tackles for loss seems like a stretch for Thumper (although to inevitably be the career leader in tackles for loss among DTs would be rad), but the single season mark (again, at least among DTs) feels achievable, and that is where Thumper devotes most of his work. It is key for a run stuffer to put running backs to bed in the backfield, and to have numbers to support your ability to do your job is important. So, Thumper is grinding away, slowly increasing his strength so that he might find himself more capable of pushing through offensive linemen, finding his way into the backfield, and ending running plays before they even truly start. Although winning games and hopefully championships will always be goal one, this is quietly goal two.
Steco Ocewilder is starting tight end for the Marshals right now. After a hot start to the season, he role in the passing game has simmered. His support in his teammates and the great run they've been on has never wavered though. If Steco can make it to the big boy league, the NSFL, he hopes to break every record he can. His hands are always improving, so why not try for breaking the record of most receptions in a season. With Steco's combination of speed and size, any pass is in his catch radius. Give him a jump ball in the endzone, thats Where The WILD Thing Thrives. So why not try and beat the season record for touchdown catches? Steco has had the great opportunity to play with the best DSFL quarterback with Jim McMahon and hopes to get lucky again and get drafted to a team with another Star QB. Ocewilder's goals are not limited. If his career can have all the ingredients any player needs to be a star, Ocewilder has the ability. And he has enough time to break all the career records in the NSFL. Touchdowns, Receptions, Yards. Steco is gonna be the name you think of when you think NSFL Tight End. The tightest of 'em all. Marshal Up!!
A record I'd like to see my player to break would be the team Career reception record. It might not be the flashiest record and it might not put me in the hall of fame but it will show what kind of player I aim to be. Many players through the years bounce from team to team trying to count stats to break records but if I can have the career receptions record for an NSFL team then it will show that I am a team first player who is a reliable target throughout my playing career. Fans of the league may not remember who I am 20 years after I retire but I know that the fans of my team will remember me and love me for my time wearing their uniform and helping the team win. People tell their kids about Mister (NSFL Team) and his long career being an effective tight end that somehow was always open even in my old age. That's why I would like to break the career receptions record for an NSFL team so I can make the ring of honor and be remembered in the hearts of my fans.
When Fuzzy Dotson first committed to joining the DSFL, all he wanted to do was block. He just wanted to be a pancake boy, snag a couple a game and that's it. But then after the prospect bowl, he found a new love. Catching balls. A few lasers from Gimmy Jarrapolo will change a man. And so Fuzzy, late at night, cuddling his stuffed Dalmatian dog, only dreams sweet dreams of breaking catch and receiving yard records. Really ultimately, he wants to hold the record for most catches and receiving yards for RB's in the NSFL all-time. DSFL too. He might be there for a few years. It's hard breaking into the NSFL.
Then very recently, Fuzzy led his Tijuana Luchadores in receiving yards with a 4 catch, 69 yard game en-route to a W. And it hit him. Along with the catch and yardage records, Dotson wants the most all-time games with exactly 69 receiving yards. A nice and friendly, modest number. Oh and also Fuzzy would like to have the most consecutive games with at least 1 catch. And even though there have been some incredible running back Tijuana alumni through the years, Fuzzy would like to have the most all-purpose yards record from the backfield. That seems like a tall feat actually, but it's doable. Dotson also wants to have the most all-time receiving yardage and pancakes for all running backs from the illustrious S18 class. That's right, he wants to top Marcella Toriki and Ruff Ruff and all the others.
