I do not consider that there are a lot of things that I should overturn since joining the game early August. But if we could turn back time, I would have signed up for the Fantasy NSFL. At the time I decided not to do it, as I felt that my NSFL knowledge was not good enough to enter a game like that, where you have to know teams and players to get the most of it. But, after a few weeks, I still know almost nothing about the NSFL and its players, so… I could be in a league and with random players on my team, like probably some users are, and still have fun. And the best part would be that, like with Fantasy NFL, you really get to know the players because you are always looking for that gem that will give you the title. So, at this point, my grasp of the NSFL is still very reduced because I really do not have the need to go and analyze teams and players until the draft at least. Besides, I only know a few users here, and the Fantasy game might have given me a chance to get in touch with users that are not so active on discord for example.
But, lesson learned, and next year, count me in.
Oh boy, this will be fun... If I had to choose something specific off the top of my head, it would probably be any of the Otters recent home game matchups against the Arizona Outlaws. We somehow keep losing the home games against them, even though we had more than a 60-70 percent chance to win each of them. And we not only lost, we got fucking demolished both times. What are the odds? So yeah, I would definitely choose to "overturn" our team's stupid play calling during those games where we clearly should've been performing better. Other than that, there's a few general things that I would definitely change. For example, every time we've been losing in the fourth quarter, and we choose to not go for it or even kick a field goal on fourth down. We instead punt the ball away to lose any chance of winning the game. Or really just any time when it's fourth and short, and your team is down, why aren't they going for it? They just punt the ball for a touchback, instead of doing anything useful with it. Also, I'd change the sim so that the defense can actually call timeouts. It's ridiculous that they just never do, and you lose the game, because the developers have no idea how football actually works.
Listen, there's probably a lot of things I would like to overturn in my career, but that's just not an option. However, if I was able to get one overturn, I would use it selfishly. I would go back and overturn the SaberCats draft pick of Kazimir Oles. Yeah, that's right, I said it and I would guess that my GMs wouldn't be that surprised that I chose that.
San Jose drafted me first overall in Season 9, I was pumped. I'd been destroying the DSFL so I earned that pick. After my second season of clowning teams in the DSFL, I was getting the call up. This was my time to take the reigns as the number 1 on an NSFL team. I had a great rookie season and was poised to break out even more. What happened, though? San Jose went and drafted speedy wide receiver Kazimir Oles. By no coincidence, my production dropped. I was targeted way less on the field and took a back seat to my former teammate. I was on a star projectory and it all went away with that pick. If I could overturn anything, it would be that pick. Alas, I don't have those powers and thus Mr. Irrelevant was born. Thanks for nothing.
This biggest one for me is definitely about predictions. Not only would I like to go back and have done some more research before making my picks, but there are predictions I flat out missed due to being busy that are just possibly TPE that I've thrown out the window. It would be so nice to have all that TPE I missed out on. Just seeing how many prediction threads I missed makes me sick thinking about how much higher I could have my Speed at this point. I'd be close to maxing it out and would be able to start figuring out what I should focus on next, but instead I got lazy and didn't check the point tasks thread enough to go in and make a predictions post, which can be done in less than 1 minute if you do no research. There's no excuse for all the TPE I missed out on. I'm sure it has dropped my draft stock in the upcoming NSFL draft, and that is all on me. I say I want to be the best corner to ever play in the NSFL, but so far I'm not even close to getting to the point where that is even possible. So yeah, I'd go back and do better on the predictions, and make sure to not miss any.
If there was one thing I could overturn about this season, it would be two of trades made by Portland in the S17 DSFL draft. Just for reference, those trades were:
Portland gives Norfolk S17 R1 P6 and S18 R4
Norfolk gives Portland S17 R2 and S18 R1
What the fuck? You're gonna give Tijuana, ths reigning champions, a plethora of draft picks in a trade for one pick in this year's draft? And then turn right around and trade that pick and a 4th rounder to move back two spots and replace the first round you just traded away? Why? What was the point? What was the goal? The end result was to give Tijuana, who did not need any help, an extra 4 players in a draft loaded with both actives and inactives and then trade that pick for nearly peanuts. In fairness, it did end up being a decent pick swap for Portland, but giving Tijuana an even more loaded roster is the reason I'm overturning this. As a Kansas City Coyote, I disapprove greatly. Portland is the reason Tijuana will likely win the championship, and Portland will also probably get the best players in the next draft. Whatever. I'd rather the other teams have a fair chance this year. Overturn the Portland trades!!
There are several things I wish I could overturn. To start it would be the tie to the luchadores the san Antonio marshals would have mid season. After a turnover in our zone late in the fourth quarter we were marching down the field. We had enough time outs and was close enough for a field goal (frost made a 53 yarder a few weeks ago!) but the sim did neither. No time out call, no out of bounds play, and no field goal attempt. Another sim situation I would overturn is the defensive strategy of the marshals. Whatever the play was that got the pythons to have a pass play for -32 yards I would like to deploy that strategy. The defense was so tight that the quarterback ran back 40 yards and then threw the ball.
I wish I could have several weeks of predictions overturned. I had posed nothing for predictions twice…. And I was the person that posted the predictions thread for those two weeks. You could say I pulled a sim logic blunder in real life and am now no longer leading the season 18 class in TPE and have to have god like predictions for the rest of my career to catch up.
My predictions as whole have been woefully made this season . I find myself picking winners based on the players that I like on the team versus the team itself. Or, I also have fallen into the trap of thinking an underdog has to win sometime, yet it is never when I actually pick the underdog to win. I have gone against my gut a lot this season and my TPE accrual rate has paid the price for my love of the underdog. Problem is, I don't see myself changing that trend anytime soon. I still love the underdog and I know eventually I will be rewarded for my diligence. So if I could overturn any decision I have made this season, I have my pick of any of the underdog picks I have made in my predictions this season. I know I should start predicting with my brain and not my heart, but I really want that underdog to win. I guess if I want to start earning twice as much TPE as I have been earning, the formula is simple, just make the opposite prediction that I would have made early in the season. Let's see if that works out for me.
