Gib monies? I figured I would try and do a dumb little draft thing while I had some time to do it.
0. The Bagel Bagels: Simon Tremblay. Simon is the best
1. Orange County Otters: Otis Allen. Right away to me it seems that Orange county’s immediate needs are defensive linemen, but mostly a defensive tackle especially with the departure of Thorian Skarsgard in the middle of last season. Orange county finished the season in the bottom half of the league in both sacks and tackles for a loss. I think a good choice for them here could be Otis Allen. Allen had 12 tackles for a loss during his season in the DSFL which was the most among defensive tackles but he only had 4 sacks. He somehow also had a blocked punt.
2. San Jose Sabercats: Immanuel Blackstone. Unlike the Otters the Sabercats already have two big defensive tackles but they are lacking on the ends of the line. But even those two tackles are clearly not enough since they had the least amount of tackles for a loss last season and also near the bottom in sacks. With the second pick they could grab the best DE in the class but Blackstone himself has put San Jose near the bottom of the list of teams he is interested in. Blackstone was second in tackles for a loss only behind the record breaking Jackmerius Tacktheritrix but he was better in just about every other category and even had a safety.
3. Philadelphia Liberty: Douglas Quaid. The Liberty defensive line might be a tiny bit more well rounded than the previous two teams but it still needs some work considering that they had the least amount of sacks. With that said I think they will draft a linebacker though because as of right now it only seems that they have one linebacker on the roster and he isn’t really a star. With the third pick I could see the Liberty picking up Douglas Quaid who was one of the better linebackers in this class. He was second in the DSFL in tackles and had a handful of other stats to go with it like 3 forced fumbles with 2 recoveries and he also had an interception.
4. San Jose Sabercats: Osiris Firestorm-Fjord. With their star tight end Cameron Olsen retiring this season I could see the Sabercats finding his replacement in this draft. While his stats didn’t stand out he seems like a good personality to have around and that is why I could see the Sabercats drafting Osiris Firestorm-Fjord with their fourth pick. This Portland tight end only had 1 touchdown and 260 receiving yards but maybe a better quarterback can make him shine.
5. Baltimore Hawks: Chris Kross. With Maddox aging fast, Landers retirement , and Asher Quinn not being a star quite yet I think that the Hawks could go after a receiver here. Chris Kross had the fourth most receiving yards in the DSFL last season and had a higher average than most of the other receiving leaders but only had 2 touchdowns. Stephen B. Smitfter might be right about this one.
6. Chicago Butchers: HeHateMe PickSix. The Butchers had one of the worst defenses in the league last year giving up the second most points. I only see one cornerback on their roster so far and age will do their damage this year so they really need to add some young talent. With Dax Frost switching to rb HeHateMe is the next best corner available and I think it is possible that they do pick him. PickSix was only one short of tying for the most pd’s last season and tied for the second most interceptions so he could possibly start contributing right away.
7. Colorado Yeti: Prince Vegeta. The Yeti are pretty well off in most positions but seem to only have one safety at the moment. Vegeta probably gets taken much earlier than this but if things go the way they do in this draft then Vegeta would be a great pick for the Yeti here. He was tied for 6th most tackles this season and had a few in just about each other stat.
8. New Orleans Second Line: Chip Otle. Like the Yeti, New Orleans is pretty well off in most positions but seem to only have one safety. Unfortunately for them the second best safety in the class just retired and the next best safety probably isn’t worth picking this early. I think that they could try and beef up their defensive line a little more by drafting Chip Otle. Otle is probably the second best defensive end in the draft and he had a good chunk of tackles for a loss and sacks.
9. Yellowknife Wraiths: Leon McDavid. The Wraiths are also doing alright but they are missing a defensive tackle and a tight end, but with four defensive ends maybe they don’t need a tackle. I think Leon McDavid could be the choice here as he is the best remaining tight end on the board but maybe Osiris could be here and McDavid could go to SJS depending on how the teams feel about the players. McDavid had more yards and had one more touchdown than Osiris as well.
10. Austin Copperheads: Pete Miller. The Copperheads just won it all after drafting two defensive linemen last season so why not do it again and take one of the remaining defensive tackles. Pete Miller had a bit better season than the other tackles left on the board but Sardine Beaner or Riles McTackles could also be a good choice here.
I didn’t really pay attention to any roster moves or anything post ultimus so i’m sure the draft will look nothing like this but it was a bit fun just messing around and doing this. Hopefully my writing wasn’t too bad.
