Hey folks, Alfredo Crisco here, current Punter of the Year and the guy who should have been Kicker of the Year. I know I know, special teams, who gives a shit? Well, I do dammit, I wanted to win both and I should have won both. It's like the awards committee just votes based off of name recognition instead of looking at stats or something.
So ForThe Brand won Kicker of the Year, let's compare his stats to mine. I'll make the font big, the bolded and italicized number represents the higher number for those who can't read statistics well:
So uh, yeah. Not really sure why I got absolutely robbed for Kicker of the Year. Maybe the voters just vote on whoever they recognize the most? Anyway, as you can see by my stats, I was a better kicker than Brand in quite literally every single category. The worst part? I didn't even finish second in voting, Herbert Prohaska did, so let's take a look at how we compare with each other:
Now that's a much closer battle, but one I still think I am better in. For extra points, he just had one more attempt which gave him a better XP%, so let's just call that basically a tie. Which, as a rookie, is pretty great to be tied in a category with a maxed out kicker. Then we go to the field goals, which is where I take the advantage. Yeah he had a better FG%, but holy shit, 31 field goals made to 19. Oh and a record breaking longest kick at 65 yards.
So in short, I, Alfredo "Thighmaster" Crisco, was completely robbed by the awards voters for Kicker of the Year. Read the stats people. Also, maybe this proves that the power kicker archetype is a very viable option, perhaps, dare I say, better than accuracy? Sounds like another thought for another day.
