Dax Frost Falls to Third Round, Question marks remain about the Converted Runningback.
- By: Mony Kronbon
The former Myrtle Beach cornerback, Dax Frost was dressed to impress at the NSFL Draft on Friday night, eager to hear his name called. As the picks went by, Frost appeared to be visibly aggitated. The 19-year-old out of Myrtle Beach dropped well past his projections in many mock drafts.
After being tied with Immanuel Blackstone as the highest TPE earner in the S21 class after Prince Vegeta, Frost was projected to be a first round pick. In a controversial move, Frost announced that he would be declaring for the NSFL as a running back. Even after the surprise position switch, he was still expected to be a first-round pick. As the picks went by, Frost remained on the draft board. After 27 picks, Frost was finally selected by the Yellowknife Wraiths with the ninth pick in the third round. Frost was the third running back off the board chosen after Juniped Catfish, Baby Yoda, and Ed barker.
Frost was aware of how the position switch could potentially affect his draft stock saying in his presser, “.. switching from CB to RB really hurt my draft stock here.”
Frost initially tried running back while at Myrtle Beach during practice. Frost fell in love with the position and it has reinvigorated his love for the game.
Frost stated, “I am glad now that I am a RB. I knew that once I made the switch some GMs would cry now that the best CB prospect in a while would be gone, but I did what would make me happy in the long run.”
Asked if he would do it again Frost said, “I would swap positions again if I could do it over. While it does hurt me short term, watching a RB zoom through defenses is just another feeling to have altogether, and it really is quite fun to experience.”
While not the result some were expecting for Frost, He is now in a position where he is happy. Some may think it will be an uphill battle for Frost, but he believes he is primed and ready to be an impact player in the NSFL regardless of position. One of the more interesting draft stories this season and an intriguing player to watch moving forward.
