There are plenty of articles ranking defensive player. Which don't get me wrong I enjoy reading all of them. But I haven't seen a position break down for tight ends. Tight ends are people too and deserve to get some love. So for all the NSFL GMs, I took some time and broke down the top 5 S22 tight ends. I took into account updated pages, stats and where each team lines up their players. Let me know if I'm wrong or need some adjusting, but honestly I probably won't adjust the list.
1) Jeffrey Phillips - (@DrunkenTeddy)
Type: Vertical Threat
Current TPE: 228
Stats:
Catches: 27
Yards: 322
Avg: 11.9
Longest: 28
TD: 5
Pancakes: 1
Summary
Easily the best tight end in the class. Not only does he have the highest total TPE, he is super active. Dallas lines him up as a wide receiver and he does shine.
He stretches the defense, bullies weaker corner backs and sped through slower linebackers.
As a vertical threat, with almost 322 total yards and the second highest TD total count (out of all receivers), if a NSFL team is looking for a tight end this is their man.
Phillips has to be the first tight end off the board.
2) Heath Evans - (@`Feeler`)
Type: Balanced Tight End
Current TPE: 195
Stats:
Catches: 24
Yards: 303
Avg: 12.6
Longest: 32
TD: 0
Pancakes: 21
Summary
It's a pretty close race between number 2 & 3. But I'm giving Heath Evans the second place based on the updated TPE and strength.
Opposite of Dallas, Myrtle Beach lines up Evans as a fullback. A balanced tight end can help with blocking which shows with an awesome 21 pancakes.
In addition to blocking, Evans, can be a great safety valve for a quarterback under pressure.
He will make a great addition to a team looking for a solid balanced tight end and will be the second one off the board.
3) Daniel George - (@dk87gaming)
Type: Balanced Tight End
Current TPE: 182
Stats:
Catches: 20
Yards: 230
Avg: 11.5
Longest: 36
TD: 0
Pancakes: 21
Summary
In the previous summary, it's hard to distinguish 2 & 3. Both tight ends are great, active and are balanced. Daniel George, is shy below second place.
Just like Evans, Portland lines Daniel George as a fullback and both of them are once again tied in pancakes at 21.
Hopefully with the last two games of the DSFL season, George will find the end zone and raise his draft stock.
He will also be a great addition to any NSFL team that drafts him and I think he will be the third off the board.
4) Donatello Arrabiata - (@lamboalfredo)
Type: Possession Tight End
Current TPE: 134
Stats:
Catches: 29
Yards: 246
Avg: 8.5
Longest: 30
TD: 1
Pancakes: 8
Summary
This is the first possession tight end on this list, Donatello Arrabiata has the best hands of the group. The Royals do line Arrabiata as a tight end but he only has 246 yards.
With his current TPE and stats he's alone at 4.
But the future for Arrabiata is bright, if he keeps gaining TPE he could be a threat if drafted by the right team.
5) James Angler - (@tMuse)
Type: Vertical Threat
Current TPE: 151
Stats:
Catches: 14
Yards: 84
Avg: 6
Longest: 19
TD: 1
Pancakes: 9
Summary
Another vertical threat tight end. Unlike Feeler, Myrtle Beach lines Angler up as a tight end.
As of right now, Angler's stats are not impressive, he only played eight games, but he could grow and be a threat for a team willing to work with him.
With time, Angler can also stretch the field and make the job of defenses significantly more difficult.
Other notables:
Here below, you can see a huge gap in TPE, but these tight ends shouldn't be over looked.
They can be of great value later in the draft. Both are active and will need to improve over time.
Von Hayes - (@LimJahey) TPE: 109
For Von Hayes to be part of the top 5 he will need to gain TPE. He is a balanced tight end that does line up in said position.
But for his TPe, the stats are impressive where he did score 3 touchdowns for Portland.
Zee Rechs - (@ZootTX) TPE: 92
Another balanced tight end, Zee rechs, that lines up as tight end for Dallas. He also has an impressive stats of 14 pancakes.
But at his current TPE, he's lagging behind. And will need to work hard to keep pace with his class.
In conclusion, there is plenty of talent at tight end in this years draft class. NSFL GMs have the difficult task of figuring out the best fit for their teams and there is some options. DSFL teams play them all over the place and I'm sure it'll be the same in the NSFL.
