Hello fellow simmers, and welcome to the third edition of, "Who To Protect?", the series that we go through all the team’s rosters, and determine what 7 players should be protected in the upcoming expansion draft. Today we’ll be focusing on the San Jose Sabercats, and ask the question, Who To Protect?
Before we dive into the list, I’ll once again explain how my system works, we have tier list of 3 tiers.
First Tier: Shield That Boi! This tier is rather simple, the player is too risky to leave exposed in this upcoming draft.
Second Tier: A Later Protection. This tier is another simple tier, they should be exposed but protected immediately after you lose someone else.
The Bottom Tier: Hasta La Vista Baby. Another simple answer, this person needs to be sent off to Sarasota or Honolulu, he/she does not have any value on the team.
We must analyze the team before we decide who gets sent to the picking grounds.
The team:
4-9 4th in the conference, tied with the Chicago Butchers for the league’s 8th best win loss record. The Sabercats averaged 17.0 points per game, which is only good for nothing because that’s actually dead last in the league and and in their conference. Their defense on the other hand was the true upside of this franchise allowing an average of 22 points per game! That is actually pretty good despite their sub par record which could deceive everyone because of their shaky record.
Now before we get into what 7 they should protect, this is an opinionated piece in which a good human being like myself has one, please don’t go into my DM’s and say "WhY dId YoU sAy I’m NoT gEtTiNg PrOtEcTeD?" Please be advised as it is the speculation from a former general manager who knows a lot more than half these rookies.
Dan Wright: Protect.
One of the two media overlords, this one just writes to "relax himself" with these media articles. This guy was IA until the S22 class came into the developmental simulation football league, and that forced Wright, the former large lad converted into a quarterback, back into activity to assume his duties as captain of the offense. In the twenty first season, Wright did ok at best. Completing 227 of 410 passes for 2715 yards, in which it wielded 10 touchdowns to 7 interceptions for a quarterback rating of 76.8. Despite the lack luster stats and regression knocking on his door, 100% off limits for the expansion teams.
Tyron Brackenridge: Protect.
Another one of these hidden gems from the forgotten seventeenth draft class of the national Simulation Football league, and He is nearing the plateau every rookie dreams of besides winning an Ultimus, reaching one thousand TPE, a dream in reach for mr. Brackenridge. For his time in the National Simulation Football League’s twenty first season, with 83 tackles, 12 passes deflected, sacked a quarterback 12 times and even sacked them in the endzone for a safety, you for not see that every day! His strong play this season will definitely earn him a pro bowl nod and a protection spot to avoid getting captured by Honolulu or Sarasota.
Brayden Ennis: Protect
Butters is currently one of the most controversial members in the league, originally drafted by the New Orleans Second Line, only to be traded to the Baltimore Hawks, and once again emerge from that infamous seventeenth national Simulation Football league draft, he’s been punished for tampering two players and even had his general manager position revoked at some point. Ennis played pretty decently in the twenty first season of the league, where he put up 36 tackles and harassed the quarterback 7 times, pretty solid in my opinion. With his strong play, and a potential pro bowl nod, he earns the team’s third protection spot.
Quindarius Tyerucker: Expose
Whatever happened to Quindarius Tyerucker? The 11th overall selection from nineteenth national Simulation Football league draft, the second running back off the board, selected to replace Marcella Toriki who left in free Agency to New Orleans and also turned down 20 mil a year from the Chicago butchers, which was pretty crazy. Anyway, Tyerucker has not updated in nearly four months and he’s been on but strangely has not updated.. pretty weird. Tyerucker played pretty decently in the twenty first season of the national Simulation Football league, where he put up 252 rushing attempts that wielded 1126 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns with only 276 TPE! That’s Sam Torenson all other again! However do not let the stats fool you, he’s probably not going to be in San Jose next season, as he will be running through the beaches of Florida or Hawaii next season.
Freezer Riposte: Protect
I remember when a young Ryan Leaf Jr looked up to him and Thorian Skarsgard, these two were constantly fighting for defensive lineman of the year, and they were on two rival teams when the rivalry was in its peak. A former HO member, he helped push the sabercats to 2 consecutive Ultimus appearances where they won the first game but ended up infamously shut out by the hawks a year after 49-0.
In the twenty first season of the national Simulation Football league, the freezer did pretty well, with a recovered fumble, 33 tackles, 1 of which for a loss of yardage and a quartet of quarterback sacks. Despite being in a knee deep of regression, he just has the edge to be the team’s second Defensive tackle and the 4th protection slot.
Trey Staley: Protect
Papa Sabercat himself, he has been the general manager of the sabercats since the first day of the the National Simulation Football league in a late spring day in 2017. This man pioneered the dangerous sabercats pass rush that dominated the league from the fourteenth season to the eighteenth season of the national Simulation Football league, leading to the aforementioned Ultimus in the fourteenth season.
Staley did pretty good in the the twenty first season of the national Simulation Football league, with 45 tackles, 1 forced fumble, an interception and a whopping 21 pass deflections. Because of the fact he’s the general manager he gets the 5th protection spot.
The rest are quite simple.
Otis Allen, HeHateMe PickSix, and Rradrum’s player, Colby Jack are season twenty one guys and get protected automatically.
That’s all for this edition.
