Back again with another mock draft for everyone. I enjoy the process of scouting all of the rookies and this is my second five round mock draft in as many seasons. Definitely a smaller class when compared to last year, looks like there are about 35 players in addition to the sixty below available for drafting and only a few of them are currently active. Defense heavy again for sure as those positions are at a premium. For everyone checking this out, let me know your thoughts and keep in mind that I am a new player and certainly not an expert. If you went too late, let me know and prove it on the field!
Round One
1 : Colorado (from CHI) Heinrich Kackpoo Linebacker ( gbfn Portland Pythons ) 255 TPE - With their two linebackers in regression Colorado drafts their biggest needs and gets Kackpoo to be their future field general. Great speed and strength already makes him Kackpoo ready to start now and produce. There are a few slightly higher earners but the supply of elite players at the linebacker position is limited.
2 : Baltimore Greedy Sly Safety ( Sylphreni London Royals ) 266 TPE - Plenty of great players to choose from and if Sly goes first overall, it is likely that Baltimore is happy to draft a defensive lineman here. Sly's activity level has been off the charts and I have personally been witness to the positive locker room presence for the London Royals and with Walt Green in regression, adding a playmaking safety to go with the young core makes perfect sense here.
3 : Honolulu L’Carpetron Dookmarriot Safety ( notorioustig Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 228 TPE - Honolulu needs a lot of help in the defensive backfield and the cliff after the top 6 at the safety position (Huskies a GM pick) they decide not to wait and pick Dookmarriot here who has interviewed well with many teams.
4 : Arizona Son Goku Defensive End ( Naosu Kansas City Coyotes ) 262 TPE - Everything falls into place for Arizona to start this draft as the top defensive end (second overall earner) drops into the Outlaws lap's and fills their biggest need this offseason as they only have rookie Sandro Ryeu currently on the big league roster.
5 : Philadelphia Tyler Montain Defensive Tackle ( Amidships Dallas Birddogs ) 257 TPE - Defensive tackle is the weakest position defensively in this draft class and the cliff after Tyler Mountain is imposing (257 to 203; 54 TPE). Mountain could have been drafter twice by this pick, but the former Birddog is welcomed with open arms to Philly.
6 : Sarasota Ray-Ray Jackson Cornerback ( Jason Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 228 TPE - Sarasota surprised everybody this past season and made a playoff run. Despite the early success, the team is ageing and needs to inject some youth. Drafting the top earning cornerback in this class is a great place to start in Ray-Ray Jackson. He will need to improve his speed to keep up with NSFL wide receivers, but the intangibles are there.
7 : San Jose Tycker Om Defensive End ( Mysa Tijuana Luchadores ) 229 TPE - Defensive end is almost as weak as defensive tackle and San Jose looks to improve their defense up front with the addition of Tycker Om who is the last of the 200+ TPE DE's left in the draft. Om has a great speed and strength combo already this early in his career.
8 : Sarasota (from NO) Carl Wheezer Defensive Tackle ( LGMForever Kansas City Coyotes ) 203 TPE - If you needed defensive line help in this draft hopefully you have already addressed it as the Sailfish scoop up the last high earner available knowing that Wheezer would not be on the board when they pick next at twenty-four. Wheezer will be expected to lead the unit up front as the team rebuilds.
9 : Colorado Mikel van Perkins Cornerback ( Pavel Pipowitsch London Royals ) 218 TPE - Colorado effectively addresses all their defensive holes with their first two picks and adding the former London Royal Mikel van Perkins at nine and teams looking for corner help will need to act fast as the supply dries up.
10 : Honolulu (from AUS) Lesean Paris Crooks Cornerback ( The_Kidd London Royals ) 195 TPE - Honolulu contemplates taking a linebacker here but the cliff after Lesean Paris Crooks is too real for the Hahalua to handle. Impressive speed from the London Royal Crooks makes it hard for other people to see him when he rides on his enemies.
11 : Orange County Tyrone Woods Linebacker ( Rindiee Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 223 TPE - The otters opt for the Speedy Tyrone Woods at the eleventh pick. Woods may have to simmer in the DSFL for another season but will be fortunate to join such a great defensive team when he does make his debut.
12 : Yellowknife DB Jadakiss Safety ( hotdog Norfolk SeaWolves ) 230 TPE - The Wraiths would like to add a cornerback here but know that they can get one of the top players left later on. DB Jadakiss is one of the top earners in the class and slips to the twelfth pick. It would be likely that the NSFL does not know what it is like on D-Bock and how Jadakiss is probably the hardest rookie out there.
Round Two:
13 : Chicago Eugene Smoothie Safety ( Nhamlet Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 218 TPE - Chicago is late to the cornerback party so they fill their other defensive backfield need and draft safety Eugene Smoothie with the first pick in the second round. With 90 speed already, smoothie should have no problem starting for the Butchers next season.
14 : Baltimore CJ Riley Safety ( Huskies311 Portland Pythons ) 211 TPE - GM pick here. Huskies has recently switched from defensive end to safety which makes the pick of Sly second overall more interesting. The likely scenario is that Walt Green will be retiring soon, Sly and CJ Riley will pair with Eldrick Avery and Ben Stackinpaper to form the best young secondary in the NSFL. Expect Baltimore GM to recreate as another young asset for the Hawks run.
15 : Austin (from HON) Braxton Sinclair Defensive Tackle ( Lost_Kelu Norfolk SeaWolves ) 185 TPE - Not a great spot for Austin to make their first pick of the draft but they do get the last good defensive tackle prospect in Braxton Sinclair (beside GM recreate). Sinclair fills a need on the fast-rising Copperhead squad.
16 : Arizona Raphael d’Alcott Safety ( KenitohMenara Dallas Birddogs ) 215 TPE - Probably the deepest position defensively in the NSFL draft so Arizona is happy to add another 200+ TPE rookie while filing their main defensive needs. The outlaws look to have an up and coming defense.
17 : Philadelphia Mike Karpaasi Defensive End ( puolivalmiste Norfolk SeaWolves ) 165 TPE - The Liberty overhaul their defensive line by adding Mike Karpaasi to the already drafter Tyler Mountain. A great pick here as it fills a need and the next highest TPE linebacker prospect is an IA at 93 TPE. RIP to anyone else that needs a defensive end.
18 : Arizona (from SAR) Hingle McCringleberry Linebacker ( Jmac NCheese Dallas Birddogs ) 228 TPE - Arizona needs to add a running back but due to the high supply and low demand, they know that they can wait on it. Instead they draft the best defensive player available in McCringleberry in the middle of the second round. Arizona has the flexibility to keep him in the DSFL for a season if they choose.
19 : San Jose Water Chestnut III Defensive End ( ckroyal92 Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 196 TPE - Another GM pick here. Chestnut would have gone much earlier if he was available. With the low supply and high demand, it is no surprise that most of the GM recreates are defensive lineman.
20 : New Orleans Adélie de Pengu Linebacker ( IsaStarcrossed Norfolk SeaWolves ) 215 TPE - The third GM pick of the round here at twenty. New Orleans could really use some defensive line help but get a defensive leader for the next ten seasons in Pengu.
21 : Baltimore (from COL) Julio Jones Offensive Line ( 24redcrayons Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 192 TPE - Having traded away their third round pick, Baltimore is in a tough spot with their second pick of the round. They pass on a couple good linebacker prospects and shock the world by taking the offensive lineman Julio Jones in the second round. With only three viable OL prospects (two with recent update) it is unlikely that any of these players will be available in the fourth round. Jones pairs with current rookie Dolls to anchor the Baltimore line for years to come.
22 : Honolulu (from AUS) Bane KaÊ»anÄÊ»anÄ Defensive Tackle ( ADwyer87 Tijuana Luchadores ) 190 TPE - Last GM pick of the draft here. Many teams could use a great defensive tackle to hold down the middle of the field and Honolulu gets one drafting the Luchadore prospect.
23 : Orange County Dick Thruster Offensive Line ( PersonMann Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 192 TPE - Following the lead of Baltimore, the Otters take Dick Thruster here to improve their offensive line. Orange county hopes that Thruster can stay upright while engaged with NSFL lineman.
24 : Sarasota (from YKN) Kevin Malone Offensive Line ( TubbyTim69 Tijuana Luchadores ) 179 TPE - In a changing of league culture, the third and last viable offensive lineman is drafted by the end of the second round. Many teams had planned on adding one of these guys in the third round, but Sarasota pulls the okey doke and drafts Kevin Malone who could have as much TPE as Jones and Thruster as he did not update last week.
Round Three:
25 : Chicago Tomage McGullager Cornerback ( Philliesphan96 Dallas Birddogs ) 159 TPE - Having addressed the safety position in the second round, Chicago takes a chance on speedy corner Tomage McGullager to start the third round. While he did not update last week, he has been seen on the forums. The cornerback cupboards are bear so rolling the dice here makes sense.
26 : Colorado (from BAL) Tychondrius Hood Wide Receiver ( Tylus Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 226 TPE - The Yeti had planned on adding an offensive lineman her at this pick but the three top prospects are off the board. The Yeti decide to take their highest rated wide receiver in Hood here making him the first offensive skill player off the board in the S22 Draft. With James Bishop at the end of his career and Jake Dropson IA, Hood joins William Lim and Red Arrow as the best young wide receiver core in the league.
27 : Honolulu Griffin Porter Linebacker ( AsylumParty Tijuana Luchadores ) 210 TPE - Honolulu is pleasantly surprised that Griffin Porter is still available in the third round and happily fill another need on their revamped defense.
28 : Arizona Kai Sakura Wide Receiver ( DarknessRising Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 239 TPE - Arizona holds out even longer on drafting a running back and is rewarded with the highest earning wide receiver in the class. Sakura is the fifth highest earner in the whole class and has great speed and hands for a first-year player.
29 : Philadelphia Videl-San Wide Receiver ( ValorX77 Portland Pythons ) 215 TPE - The run on wide receivers continue as teams find most of the defensive talent in this draft already gone. Videl-San is an experienced re-create who knows how to have a career in this league. Could end up the highest TPE wide receiver of the class when all is said and done.
30 : Sarasota Joseph Petrongolo Running Back ( Jo3fish5 Portland Pythons ) 214 TPE - Sarasota finally pulls the trigger on a running back taking the first one off the board. Joseph Petrongolo will get a season in the DSFL before making a splash as a Sailfish.
31 : Yellowknife (from SJ) Bob Bob Safety ( nickyvmlp London Royals ) 206 TPE - Great pick here for Yellowknife as they over-fill their need at safety and also get a 200+ TPE player with a 96 point position cliff behind him. Even though they have already drafted a safety, Yellowknife employees three active and two of them are currently at the end of their careers. Not much left in the secondary after this pick.
32 : New Orleans Luca Scabbia Wide Receiver ( enigmatic Dallas Birddogs ) 225 TPE - Tough draft for New Orleans as they is not much left at their biggest need positions of offensive line, defensive end and safety. Fortunately, they do need a wide receiver and there are many quality ones available. They add the twelfth highest earner of the class in Luca Scabbia at this pick.
33 : Austin (from COL) Jason Young Cornerback ( A Duck On Quack Kansas City Coyotes ) 145 TPE - A far cry from the depth of the S22 cornerback class, Austin has to reach for the last good prospect at the position in Jason Young. Good speed, if Young can stay active, he can contribute on a championship level team.
34 : Arizona (from AUS) Nicholas Ayers Running Back ( Faded Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 215 TPE - With Sarasota breaking the seal, the Outlaws need to take a top running back now before the run begins. Ayers has good speed (90) and has a chance to make the opening day roster.
35 : Arizona (from OCO) Eric Richards Linebacker ( WildfireMicro London Royals ) 190 TPE - Richards could be the steal of the draft almost falling out of the third round. If he does slip this far, expect teams trying to move up and get him as soon as Porter is off the board. Great all-around linebacker, good in the locker room and recently dropped a serious media article which has him moving up draft boards late in the season.
36 : Yellowknife Doug Howlett Wide Receiver ( Rufio_NZ Tijuana Luchadores ) 213 TPE - Nate Swift is in the twilight of his great career and Willie B. Hardagain has not updated in over a month. We so much quality at the position, the Wraiths were able to sit back and let a quality prospect fall into their laps. Good all-around mix of speed, strength and hands from Doug Howlett at the thirty-sixth pick.
Round Four:
37 : Austin (from CHI) Datsum PhastBawls Kicker/Punter ( Rabidsponge21 London Royals ) 216 TPE - Austin is looking to become an elite team and they will need a quality kicker to win close playoff games in the future. Alfredo "Thighmaster" Crisco is about done, so it makes sense to draft a high earning kicker here early in the fourth round since there are only two prospects available. If he stays active, PhastBawls will be a key member of the Copperheads for the next ten seasons.
38 : Baltimore Blade McCoy Linebacker ( Blaster Dallas Birddogs ) 164 TPE - Baltimore considers taking the only other kicker prospect here but ultimately decides on a middle of the field partner for de Ville. Blaster is the last available, active linebacker with good edge rushing speed for his TPE level.
39 : Honolulu Rigby Raccoon Tight End ( dieselj123 Kansas City Coyotes ) 138 TPE - There is only one quality tight end prospect in the entire draft and having addressed all of their other needs in the first three rounds, the Hahalua reach a bit and get a recreate in Rigby Racoon who could start day one.
40 : Arizona Joe Exotic Defensive Tackle ( Gamaliel Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 121 TPE - Arizona has had a bunch of picks to start this draft and have done a great job filling holes. Now they can take chances on some longshot, depth pieces and they do so by adding their second defensive tackle in Joe Exotic. Good speed from the interior lineman but lack of strength will keep him in the DSFL for a season.
41 : Philadelphia Dick Thunder Offensive Line ( dylanjj37 Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 84 TPE - Having missed out of the three top tier offensive lineman, the Liberty draft the lowest TPE player so far in Dick Thunder. This may look like a reach now, but Thunder has recent activity and an update this week and has been moving up draft boards steadily as of late. Only inactive offensive linemen remain in the draft.
42 : Chicago (from SAR) Brennan Kennedy Cornerback ( bk1689 Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 110 TPE - Chicago whiffs on the offensive lineman this draft and will have to hope next year has a few decent prospects. The Butchers need a lot of help in the secondary and use their third pick to add a third player to the group in the last 100+ TPE cornerback.
43 : San Jose Dre Matthews Wide Receiver ( Confictional Norfolk SeaWolves ) 205 TPE - The Sabercats only have two wide receivers on their active roster so making a good value pick here in the fourth round and adding a 200+TPE looks like a great move. Dre Matthews has good speed for his TPE level and could get some reps in the slot with the big club next season.
44 : New Orleans Mac Griddle Safety ( mcgriddleluver Portland Pythons ) 112 TPE - The Secondline need help at safety and defensive end but both positions are very weak at this stage in the draft. New Orleans goes out on a limb and hopes that Mac Griddle and stay active and become a piece for them down the road. Regardless he will be in the DSFL next season.
45 : Colorado Danny King Running Back ( DanE got dis London Royals ) 207 TPE - Ashley Owens is not getting any younger so adding a running back who can marinate in the DSFL is a solid move. The speedster from the Royals has a 40+ point TPE cliff behind him making this an even better pick leaving only two players with 200+ TPE left on the board.
46 : Chicago (from AUS) Keynel McZeal Running Back ( PSanchez55 Portland Pythons ) 165 TPE - Not the draft Chicago wanted so far. They would have liked to have gotten one of the top two running backs but settle for the fourth rated in Zeynel McZeal. Fortunately for the Butchers is that McZeal is a re-create who can hopefully add leadership to the locker room.
47 : Orange County Quanter Skrills Running Back ( Saliva^ Norfolk SeaWolves ) 162 TPE - Third consecutive running back drafted and fifth back total leaves not much left for the other teams in need. The Otters do not need any additional firepower next season so Quanter Skrills will get to refine his skills and compete for RB of the Year in the DSFL.
48 : Yellowknife Yuuto Kira Cloudera Defensive Tackle ( kentakira Dallas Birddogs ) 93 TPE - An update this week is a promising sign for the 93 TPE defensive tackle. The Wraiths need help at that position with Giannis Kroustis in regression and the only interior lineman, but Cloudera will need more reps in the DSFL before he can help.
Round Five:
49 : Chicago Omar Wright Jr. Linebacker ( xdave2456 Portland Pythons ) 145 TPE - Late in the draft the Butchers take the best defensive player left on the board in Omar Wright Jr. who most certainly expected to be drafted higher than the fifth round. Expect Wright Jr. to have a chip on his shoulder playing at the next level.
50 : Baltimore Philip Stein Kicker/Punter ( IHateBobNutting Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 196 TPE - Baltimore is ecstatic that they were able to land one of the two kicking prospects in this draft. ForThe Brand is at the end of his career and adding a solid kicker to perform in the clutch to this young core will be essential to winning a championship down the road. Philip Stein will get one more season to improve his kicking power before making his big-league debut.
51 : Honolulu Bradley Owens Linebacker ( Keyg_an Dallas Birddogs ) 126 TPE - Bradley Owens does not do anything great but has a solid all-around base. More activity could make him a contributor for Honolulu.
52 : Arizona Arik Eller Defensive End ( Ace Dallas Birddogs ) 90 TPE - Recent update and recent activity longshot here but Arik Eller is the last viable prospect at defensive end. Has come on strong late. I like Eller to be the surprise of the whole draft when we look back in five seasons. Arizona has had a great draft and completely revamped their defense.
53 : Philadelphia Jackson Kingston Wide Receiver ( Daybe Honolulu Hahalua ) 206 TPE - How Jackson Kingston slipped this far as a 200+ TPE wide receiver shows the low demand for the position in the NSFL. Despite that Kingston will likely be the number one wideout for a team during his prime and Philly is happy to have him.
54 : Sarasota Karmichael Hunt Unknown ( simo_393 Kansas City Coyotes ) 140 TPE - Currently sporting an IA kicker, Sarasota gets a football player in "kicker" in Karmichael Hunt. He will need to improve his kicking power to beat out Diego Espinosa but could be a weapon on fake kicks if this game has them.
55 : San Jose Brock Bodenhamer Wide Receiver ( toivo Myrtle Beach Buccaneers ) 159 TPE - With not much left defensively in the draft, San Jose adds their second wide receiver in Bodenhamer hoping that at least one of them becomes a star. Good value for the Sabercats here getting a recreate player this late in the draft.
56 : New Orleans Mordecai Morrisey Defensive End ( MCP_ Kansas City Coyotes ) 93 TPE - The Secondline need help at defensive end. With only scraps left, they take a chance on Mordecai Morrisey who has not updated lately but has been seen on the forums lately. Hopefully he can be convinced to become active once again.
57 : Colorado Reginald Covington III Quarterback ( PDXBaller Kansas City Coyotes ) 206 TPE - Wolfie McDummy is one of the greatest QBs of all time but is approaching the end of his career. Covington III is the only quality quarterback prospect available and the upside possibility of the pick is too much to pass up here late in the fifth round.
58 : Austin Benoit Blanco Wide Receiver ( xQCFamous Norfolk SeaWolves ) 182 TPE - Austin adds another offensive weapon in Blanco with the 58th pick. Great earning and good intelligence from the young player. Will have to improve strength to get separation at the next level.
59 : Orange County Brian Earlbacher Linebacker ( earlbacher Minnesota Grey Ducks ) 117 TPE - Although he has not been seen in twenty days, Brian Earlbachder is the last linebacker available and did achieve decent TPE when here.
60 : Yellowknife Griff Oberwald Wide Receiver ( Aenir Norfolk SeaWolves ) 162 TPE - With the final pick in the Stackinpaper S23 Mock Draft, the Yellowknife Wraiths select Griff Oberwald from Streissen, Averland. Good all-around skill set here but will need to work hard another season in the DSFL to contribute at the NSFL level.
He will need to improve his speed to keep up with NSFL wide receivers, but the intangibles are there.
