In high school, with growing up in a small midwestern town, I was the biggest and strongest player on my team, heck even in the conference. This posed some problems because I simply didn't have a way to get better because no one could really compete with me. This is when my father, Dick Tank, took me to our neighbors farm and showed me how to round up pigs and hogs. Have you ever had to try and catch a greased up hog? Yeah, good luck with that. I would spend hours chasing the damn things and trying to take them down and this proved to be the help I needed to prepare me for the competition I would see in college and eventually in professional football.
It's actually pretty amazing how easy getting past offensive lineman are now because they're not pigs and how easy quarterbacks are to chase down and tackle because they're not as fast or as greased down as these giant hogs. The problem this had caused though is it made me a little too good on the field in high school that I had to slow down a bit after I accidentally have a couple concussions to some of the other smaller kids who were playing. What can I say? I'm just too damn good to have been cooped up in that area and I wish my parents would have moved out for farmland Iowa to a bigger city. I feel like I would be completely unstoppable if that was the case.
