Spike Suzuki played many different positions both on offense and defense growing up. Even though he wasn’t the biggest player on the team, he was fast and could tackle well. His talents translated best to linebacker and played that position all through college. Suzuki entered the DSFL draft as a linebacker and had a productive season with 134 tackles. As Suzuki prepared for the NSFL draft, many GMs asked if he would be flexible to start at a different position if the fit was right. He was completely on board with switching positions if it benefited the team just like he’s always done throughout his life.
Suzuki was drafted by the Philedelphia Liberty and soon after the draft, Hall, the GM, approached Suzuki about trying out defensive end to see some field time as a rookie. Without hesitation, Suzuki was up for the change. It was tough sledding at first, but Suzuki settled into the position and went on to have a decent rookie season with 20 tackles, 4 sacks, and a safety thrown in as well.
During the off-season, Suzuki decided to put on some muscle. He worked out everyday in his mountain isolation sanctuary and went on a heavy protein plant-based diet. He showed up for the season with maxed out strength on top of his already maxed out speed. So far, he’s had a great season and is able to get into the backfield a lot more quicker than the season before.
