Hall of Fame Quarterback and new Myrtle Beach Co-GM Steps up to the podium to answer questions about his career and move into a front office position in the DSFL!
First of all, how dare you spell it Joilet! It is Joliet! Where is the respect? Ha ha. Second of all, how dare you say that Joliet would become the offensive coordinator for a dead program like the one at the University of Wyoming. Joliet moved back to his home and his ranch back in Brookings, South Dakota and lived a nice quiet life there but occasionally helped with local football youth drives and attended many events at his alma mater of the University of South Dakota and really has never gotten away from the game of football. However, Joliet did help a future Wyoming QB during his high school time which honed his craft to be able to get the ball to future superstar wide receiver Joshua Campbell!
Honestly, while many would come in and say, "Let's go win the Ultimini every year!" or something like that, that is not why I am most excited for the job. Of course, winning is great and I want my guys to be able to grab as many wins they can get before they head off to the NSFL. That is the main thing though is that sooner or later, these players are going to be in the NSFL at some point and it is our job as GMs to breed some great players from our developmental program and have some of the top NSFL players be able to say they were Myrtle Beach Buccaneers and thank us when they go win Ultimus trophies and awards!
It feels good to be back though. I trained Deondre Thomas-Fox when he was the quarterback here in Myrtle Beach and he showed a lot of grit and heart during a tough year for the team. I am excited to work with more players here and hope I can use my experience in the league to help all these youngsters. It is great being back and I am grateful to be given this chance at this point in my career!
I am most excited because there is so much flexibility down in the DSFL and we have some great returning players but also have some guys that will call the NSFL their home. We can fill our holes with a ton of great new draftees and really build a solid team here in the the DSFL. I am looking forward to how we work together as GMs to build a team that we want and that will have all the draftees wanting to be a part of.
I probably would lean more towards no but that is a good question. I don't think I was ever going to fade away completely from professional football and the ins and outs of everything but this was a great opportunity to get back in the game and take what I know about the pro game and apply it to other young players to have the same dreams and aspirations that I did way back in the day.
All about building a terrific team in Myrtle Beach. One that is highly regarded, one that can adapt to any situation and one that can win a lot of games!
In an effort to not give away much draft strategy, I will give a vague answer. We have a lot of holes to fill on the team to build us up, we will aim at getting the best available players in order to fill any gaps we have on our team and we want to bring in some great high character guys as well!
