As the camera lights flash and cheers die down among the crowd, newly acquired Wide Receiver Dustin Evans steps up to the podium, displaying the black and red Outlaws' jersey and hat to the crowd.
"If anyone has any questions for me, I'll be here for a little while."
Make it work? This isn't gonna be something that's an issue, really it'll help everyone out. I'm not out here fighting my team for the highest numbers, I'm doing what I can to contribute by getting better and that's all I'm focused on. He's proven himself to be nothing less than a dedicated, hard working guy and I see no reason that won't continue.
I really don't have much experience with this sort of thing so I wasn't too sure what to expect, but I saw my name pop up in a couple first round mocks and I realized I might be drafted higher than I has anticipated, but other than that it wasn't really a huge concern when my name was called, just that I went to a team like Arizona where my talents can be utilized.
I mean, if course I'm a little bit nervous, but for the most part just excited. They had some great receivers here in AZ during their Ultimus run, but I'm not trying to live in anyone's shadow. I'm gonna be the best receiver I can be and do what I can to put us in position to keep that trophy in the desert.
You know, everybody wants to get drafted, but until the moment they do they're playing a big PR game. I am frankly so glad to truthfully be able to say, hell yeah I'm excited about this. After I had a talk with a couple members of the front office and saw their facility, I knew what fit me best was the Outlaws. The potential is huge this year and I'm ready to build with a great group of guys.
Like I told Chess, I don't mind waiting for that call if I know a team wants me there and I felt like Arizona was targeting me so I was very comfortable to wait. Every single first round player this year was an absolute playmaker, controversy or not, and I'm not going to sit here and blame anyone for not picking me higher. I went where I feel like I can have an impact and that's what's most important to me.
When a GM really takes the reigns and does what needs to be done to fill a position of need, it speaks volumes. Bronko has been dropping some absolute beauties in training camp so far and I'll tell you right now that teams aren't ready for this.
Well if we're talking established playmakers, Mayan moving from the D to outside with me; it's gonna be fun. Watching a quick ball hawk like that make that sort of transition will be absolutely seamless based on the way he plays. On the other hand, we drafted my boy Chess and I couldn't be happier to head out to AZ with another receiver from my draft class. Watched a bit of his tape and he was killing it. Gonna make it look easy out here.
I mean, I had an idea of who might be interested, but other than that, not really. Once the mocks came rolling in I had a better idea seeing myself in a few 1st rounds and then in a couple article mock 2nds. From there, though, tried not to focus on it too much.
Depends what you want to judge the best by. If it's the amount of times you'll get burned by me, then you'll want old man Dermot, if you're looking for the most versatile OL in the draft, we got Pest over here. If you want to know the safest hands to lob a TD to, you got four between chess and I. A lot of different bests out there, but I think we got the ones that matter.
I want to benefit the Outlaws as a receiver than as one particular type of guy. I'm gonna work to be as versatile and dynamic as possible. When you hear a guy like Stormblessed being talked about as a playmaker, it's not his archetype they discuss, it's that burner speed and his instincts, I'm out here to make a name among a great group of guys in AZ.
I've been working heavy on my speed lately and I don't know if I'm gonna be outrunning every corner I see, but I promise when we're jumping for that ball and when the moment comes Bronkos gonna trust it'll end up in my hands.
Running a post and knocking out the safety gives me TD appeal and the ability to play a little smash mouth in the same few seconds. Getting to hit and score? I don't know why more people don't do this.
I respect the hell out of Mayan for the team player he's being during this transition. A huge need was there at WR and he stepped into unfamiliar waters to help fill it for the sake of the team.
On the same token, Chess is a new guy like myself and his work ethic you can see every single day, whether he's churning out articles or TD's he's a guy you can call a safe bet. Glad to work with them.
Just looking to make the team better. Whatever the situation calls for, I'll step in.
Growing up, I was a huge fan of Ray Lewis, Chris Mccalister, and Ed Reed in Baltimore. They were major hitters and textbook ball hawking players. It's not hard to see the similarities here with Flock back there making RBs regret it and Davis as that prototypical magnet grabbing every pass coming his way. Then you've got stunners outside in Williams and Rashad. Btw, no one's getting off Rashad Island this year. And finally, we EASILY have straight killers in the middle with Ernston and Lee. Tight ends, check. RBs, check. Brave ass Wrs in the middle, dead.
Well, it's hot, but there's a whole lot less water out here. Less old people, too. That's a plus. I can finally drive the speed limit.
Nothing against Dermot, he's an awesome guy, I even interviewed him, but now I'm coming for him. After hearing so much hype, you want to be the one that smacks it down. I can do that.
No favorites on the team, but a guy that really helped me out when I first started and one that I look to model my game after is Bailey Cook. He's a monster out there.
I will be the best in the league. Anyone wants to take any bets on this, I'm down. Let me have the time to grind, but I'm coming for every single db in this league. Im gonna be a nightmare for defenses.
Football is one of the very few true meritocracies. You get in what you put it. I'm giving everything and what I get back is doubled, tripled in performance. I'm doing what I can to make my money, doing what I can to help my team, improve my game. I will be the best, I know that.
First of all, congratulations, man. Happy for you.
Second of all, it's not a big deal. It feels real cool out there when you're scoring on some kittycats.
Outlaws or bust
With Pest and Scotty out there King can sit in his castle long as he wants, but we also have some serious upgrades with Brownce, Mac, and Thomas, too. Might as well call our line IHOP.
Boxers, but make sure you bring an extra pair or two.

Do you prefer Boxers or Briefs in such heat, so I can know when I come to Arizona to play you guys?
