Sam Howitzer will be a Top 6 QB in the ISFL this season
Now, I understand this may be somewhat of a bold claim. Obviously, ISFL defenses are a different kettle of fish to the defenses of the DSFL, much like the NFL Pre-Season comparatively to the NFL regular season. However, based on his performances last season and the players Howitzer has around him in New York, I can see him surprising some people.
For starters, let's take a look at Howitzer's award-winning calibre season in the DSFL. The man just knew how to look after the ball. Howitzer only threw 6 interceptions last season (less than any QB in the ISFL) whilst also making the second most attempts in the DSFL behind Tijuana's QB, who subsequently threw double digits in picks. As a new franchise, looking after the ball and keeping drives alive is going to be crucial, and Howitzer has that in his locker.
Then, we look at his supporting cast. Kingston, Snyder and Fank provide a nice mix of options to throw to. Kingston is a reliable veteran, Snyder had an excellent rookie season and seems like a player who loves finding the end zone, whilst Fank will be a hungry rookie, probably playing in the slot, who showed many flashes of ability for Norfolk in the DSFL. Then you add in the experienced of TE Leon McDavid and you have a very good group.
Last season, the QB with the 6tth best QBR (Banks II) had a completion rating nearly 10% less than Howitzer did. If Sam can keep up his accuracy, whilst also finding the end zone a little more prolifically, I'm calling it now. He will crack the Top 6.
