Best WRs in S25
I am a S26 rookie WR, so I would like to guess who the best WRs will be in this season. Since speed, hand, and endurance are the most important traits of a WR, I will only focus on these three factors. Buccaneers has Zack Crossley (292 TPEs, S25) and Alex Reed (291 TPEs, S25), both have their speed, hand, and endurance at around (90, 75, 70). London Royals has Tugg Speedman (149 TPEs, S26) and Schumi (98 TPEs, S26). Speedman’s attributes are (79, 74, 71). Birddogs has Mark Callous (240 TPEs, S25) and Willard (79 TPEs, S25). Callous’s speed, hand, and endurance are (90, 75, 70). KCC has Arthur Naught (148 TPEs, S26) and Tater Tosser (62 TPEs, S26). Arthur Naught’s attributes are (83, 70, 70). Pythons has Mario Messi (149 TPEs, S26) and Cal Cutta (126 TPEs, S22). Mario Messi’s attributes are (86, 69, 60). SeaWolves has Raphael Delacour (166 TPEs, S26) and Alexander Johnson (101 TPEs, S25). Raphael’s attributes are (70, 70, 60). As a WR, Raphael developed the intelligence to 70, which seems not very useful for a WR particularly at an early stage. Grey Ducks has Lebby Newton (118 TPEs, S25) and Jalen Washington (92 TPEs, S26). Lebby’s attributes are (78, 75, 65). Tijuana has Quavious McGrady (115 TPE, S26). The attributes of speed, hand, and endurance are (80, 70, 65).
The S25 players are more advantaged in TPEs and their attributes. All the S25 WRs seem to target some values around (90, 80, 70), so this target should be a good balance to achieve for the S26 rookies. Among the S26 WRs, Tugg Speedman from London is targeting exactly this goal, and Mario Messi from Pythons and Arthur Naught from KCC focus more on the speed. As S26 rookies, these three S26 WRs have collected around 150 TPEs, and they are among the best of the S26 rookie WRs. Since Buccaneers has two S25 WRs, it will probably have the best receiving stats in S25.
Why the Yellowknife will win the Ultimus. After a year of getting his feet wet Colby Jack is now in his second year and is more than ready to take his team to the playoffs and ultimately win the Utlimus. Now the majority of the season 22 draft stars are upcoming and the Yellowknife wraiths did a good job negotiating and extending all of their draft picks. Because of this the majority of the season 22 draft picks average tpe is 800. That is both the offense and defense and that is quite tremendous and I believe the Yellowknife wraiths won the draft for that season but that is another argument. The average TPE of the Yellowknife team is 678 that is third overall just behind the yeti an d the outlaws. With a strong core of defensive players that can help prevent scoring and prevent giving up big plays is key and the defense can more than step up to perform that task. Our offense is definitely more on the younger side but the defense can make up for some mistakes that may happen. Overall I can say I am happy with the Yellowknife team and see a bright future ahead with a trophy in the Yellowknife locker room, and even more in the future as the rookies and younger athletes just get better and better.
So we’re two weeks into the new ISFL season and (at this point) about to start week one for the DSFL. I love watching the cool little dots as much as everyone else, but I realized earlier that I was sitting in relative silence. Aside from some super quiet ambient music, there was no noise. When the games are done, the sim person just quietly states what the score ended up being. I am of the opinion that what we need for our games is a sports announcer! WE NEED SOME HYPE! We need someone to match the energy levels that I see on the discord channels during the game; people firing off non-stop in all caps. Now obviously the individual plays move way too fast to call each one (and I feel like I speak for a lot of people when I say I like how fast the sim games go). However, even just calling out one or two crazy things that are happening would be awesome. Give some crazy plays some attention. If a rookie does something wild, I’m sure they would be stoked to hear their name called out. If anyone doesn’t like the announcing, they can mute it like I’m sure some people already do with the music. No offense intended towards the sim broadcasters obviously, just want to see some ENERGY!
Venus Powers is undoubtedly the greatest of all time kicker in the ISFL. In S24 alone, Powers kicked with a 100% efficiency in both extra points and field goals, helping the Honolulu Hahaluas reach the playoffs.
While other kickers had kicked 100% of their extra points (Langdon from Orange County in 2020, Lawes from Arizona in 2035, or Clutch from Arizona in 2036) OR their field goals (S, Harris of Liberties in 2017 and 2019), Powers was the first to obtain the full 100% rating in Season 24, kicking 32 of 32 extra points AND 29 of 29 field goals (non which were under 20 yards). She is also the first to kick 100% of their extra points 3 seasons in a row, an unheard of feat that garnered Powers multiple awards, from The ISFL Punter of the year (2036 and 2037) and Kicker of the Year (2039). She has also been a Pro-Bowler Punter or Kicker for the last 5 seasons (2035 – 2039), and is tied in the ISFL for the third all-time, longest field goal (57). If that was not enough, Powers has third in punt average (47.4 yards), showing that her skills are all-around in the foot-to-ball aspect of football.
As a fellow Seawolf and Hahalua, this writer may be accused of bias, but the numbers speak for themselves: Venus Powers is a kicker that will go down in ISFL history as the best there ever has been.
The Minnesota Grey Ducks will win the Ultimini this year. That may be an opinion or a fact, but we are going to see it in action as the year goes on. Several bits of evidence point towards this being a very likely scenario. Let us begin by picking the low hanging fruit. The Ducks had the second best rushing attack in the league last year. With not only one, but two star rookie running backs, both of who managed to improve up to and beyond the dsfl tpe cap. Second best last year to first best this year is really easy to see as no other team has this amount of talent and continuity at the position. It is worth mentioning that all teams had more players called up than the Ducks, leaving the Ducks with a ton of capped players, mainly on the defense. It is definitely impressive to talk about the rushing attack, but dat defense doe.. linebackers that are absolute murderers and then likely the best secondary in the business. Two capped cornerbacks and two capped safeties, teams will likely be unable or unwilling to try to throw on this defense. A likely scenario is the Ducks getting room for a playoff berth by mid-season, and this is all without talking about the absolutely awesome rookies we just picked up in the draft, some of them which I am already quite fond of.
After spending almost five seasons being closely involved in the workings of the DSFL, it is my strong belief that we need some big changes to the current senddown situation. Why? It is causing the DSFL to 'clog up' so to say, and make it harder for a rookie to hold a good roster spot. And that causes the retention rate for said rookies to drop, which kinda makes the whole point of DSFL moot.
Currently, senddowns occupy about 1/3 of DSFL starting spots. And they're taking the most inportant spots, as well. Primary receiver, CB1, etc. The fact that quite a few of those senddowns have been there for multiple seasons is even more concerning. So under this situation, rookies can only occupy lesser spots, like WR2, RB2 or a rotational starter in defense, barring special circumstances. And this overpresence of senddowns caused the DSFL competition to turn into 'who got most mediocre earners' (most senddowns are mediocre to low earners) from 'who has the most active young roster' which is the way the DSFL should aim for, in my opinion.
So, how do we fix it? I suggest an increase to the salary cap. Under current cap situation, a team can only call up the bare minimum of the players they need from the DSFL, as they also need to pay current players and OL bots. A slifht increase of the cap space- 5 to 10 million or so- will alleviate those concerns and therefore will encourage the GMs to call up young players aggressively instead of stashing them down in the DSFL. I'm going to argue for Raylan Crowder to get the (probably fictional) Rookie DE of the year award at the end of this season by projecting stats from the first 2 games in a completely arbitrary manner across 16 games (by just timesing this by 8).
I'll compare this to the other big three DE from the S25 draft class. Albert Ruschmann, Tex Wrecks and newly reformed Medicinal Toblerone.
Stats Across 2 Games
Crowder - 6 Tackles, 1TFL, 1FF, 2 Sacks
Wrecks - 2 Tackles, 2 TFL
Ruschmann - 6 Tackles, 1 Sack
Toblerone - 8 Tackles 2 TFL
We can see from the above, Crowder is the only of the big 4 Rookies to have a forced fumble as well as stats in both TFL & Sacks. This immediately puts him above the competition.
If we project this across 16 games taking 0 variance into account in a very none scientific very botched manner we get the below.
Crowders stats look infinitely better than Wrecks/Ruschmann here. Toblerone has a larger impact in the tackling game but her lack of QB takedowns let her down here.
Now I'm well aware there will be variance across the season with each of these players getting their fair share of decent games. It's fair to say the class of S25 has created at least 4 dominant DEs with a number of good DTs on top of that.
Sidenote: This is so anti-science/stats it hurt to even write. Either way TPE please.
