With The Ultimini and Ultimus taking place shortly, the next big to happen will be the ISFL and DSFL drafts. The London Royals currently have 6 active eligible players that will be getting selected in the upcoming ISFL draft. We’ll be taking a look at each eligible player and which team is the best match for them.
Eligible players are anyone who has been updated in the last month. I should also mention that this is not a prediction of which team these players will go to, but how good of a match they are for these teams according to how their roster look from this season.
Ernest Lover, Defensive End, 261 TPE
Stats: 75 Tackles, 11 Tackles for Loss, 1 Forced Fumble, 8 Sacks
Best Fit: Berlin Fire Salamanders (3-13)
Ernest has a great rookie season in the DSFL. Salamanders are short a quality defensive end and Lover could slot in for them almost immediately if they chose to have him there. They currently have 4 defensive line players in Mario VonPebbles (DE), Stevie Vassallo (DE), Claude Miller II (DT), Hank Steel (DT). Of those 4, Vassallo is from S19 so next year would be his 8th season in the league and he will see his TPE drop from an already low 321. That would mean Lover would be able to slide in and take the job quite easily for him, and also be able to contribute and hopefully help The Fire Salamanders finish with a better record then they did last year.
Tugg Speedman, Wide Receiver, 255 TPE
Stats: 73 Catches, 841 Yards, 4 Touchdowns
Best Fit: San Jose Sabercats (9-7)
Speedman finished the 2nd half of the season quite strong, and if for some odd reason he doesn’t stick with his ISFL franchise next season and gets sent back down to the London Royals, don’t be surprised to see him as one of the top receivers in the DSFL. Hank Steel is a S13 Receiver and probably doesn’t have much time left, as well as Deondre Thomas-Fox is from S19 and will begin to see some significant decline so it only makes sense to bring in a young WR to take the reigns and try and help Tychondrius Hood maintain an already very potent passing game.
Schumi Hulkenvettel, Wide Receiver, 192 TPE
Stats: 53 Catches, 641 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Best Fit: Colorado Yeti (13-3)
Hulkenvettel was a great secondary to Speedman for the passing game and gave Cortex yet another solid weapon to use to try and improve the Royals passing game. The Yeti have 2 receivers from S22 in William Lim and Leeroy Jenkins, but that’s it. Hulkenvettel could be a great 3rd receiver or if they decided to give him another year, they could send him back to the Royals. Either way, it would be a great fit for both Hulkenvettel and the Yeti.
*Logan Sarrasin, Linebacker, 191 TPE
Stats: 96 Tackles, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 Sacks, 1 Interception, 3 Pass Deflections, 1 Defensive Touchdown
Best Fit: Chicago Butchers (8-8)
Sarrasin had a nice rookie season. He consistently brought players down and had a few game changer moments in games from stopping players short of the endzone and making them settle for a field goal to getting a pick six. This was especially difficult as most teams are loaded nicely at the linebacker position, but ultimately, the Butchers seem to have the greatest need. They currently have Juan Domine, a S24 player, and Mike Hockhertz from S18. Hockhertz will see a further decline which could open things up for Sarrasin to potentially get in next season, but if they decided to sed him back, he would be more than ready to line up next to Domine to create another 1-2 punch like we saw with Burfict and Sarrasin for The Royals this season.
*As this is my player, please note this is note my prefered destination. I am very much open to getting drafted by any team that feels I can make their team better. I am ximply excited to get drafted into The ISFL like all my fellow draft mates.
Caven McRae, Safety, 186 TPE
Stats: 75 Tackles, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 Interceptions, 6 Pass Deflections
Best Fit: Chicago Butchers (8-8)
Hamish MacAndrew is the only other Safety showing for them which would open things up for McRae to get prime minutes on the defense and try to show he can make a difference for this team trying to take the next step from pretenders to legitimate Ultimas contenders.
“Captain” John Price, Safety, 96 TPE
Stats: 29 Tackles, 2 Sacks
Best Fit: Sarasota Sailfish (11-5)
The Sailfish currently have 3 safeties in their prime, which means they could easily pick up Price and send him back to London, which is where he is expecting to be next season as he continues to grow. Jamie Nkiah from S20, Cuco Clemente from S22 and Beat from S19 are their current Safeties and with Beat about to begin his decline, it could work out perfectly to get "Captain" John Price into the line up in another year.
