Notre Dame kicker/ punter Stephen Harris is ready to address your questions.
1. The transition hasn't been too bad, it's been pretty easy to assimilate due to the similarities. The only jarring things were how out going people are it's a bit of shock to the system to have random strangers start a conversation with you, and the scale of things, not just the plate sizes, to have 80000 people watch university students play sports is ridiculous and completely unheard of where I come from we would be lucky to get one man and his dog a long.
2. Kicker I feel that though I'm a decent punter I have a lot more confidence to put one through the posts than get a kick inside the 20.
3. Long distance field goals.
4. 100%
5. I come from a rugby union background so I have confidence in my ability to run the ball, my passing is something that I am working on though.
1. Absolutely you have to trust in your ability to make a clutch kick or you shouldn't be in the game.
2. I believe you have to have a balance in styles power will get you to the posts but it's useless if you can't put it through.
3. Blue
4. My last minute field goal from 40 yards out to beat Baylor.
5. From what I can remember from piecing things together, yes I am.
1. A Scottish kicker would be much more useful in the cold and rain.
2. It's honestly just something I fell into. Like I mentioned earlier I was a rugby player that's what I was actually going to be doing at Notre Dame. I happened to be practising my goal kicking and punting when I got spotted by the special teams coach at the university and the team just so happened to have an injury crisis and needed someone to cover for a few games but it turns out I was pretty good so I stuck.
3. A lot of people see kickers and punters as an after thought and of course I am biased but I truly believe we are one of the most important jobs on the field and we can make or break a game.
4. Winning is everything
5. Highly valuable. A missed extra point is the difference between a win and a loss and if you are struggling on offence but you have a guy who can punt into their 20 and their defence can keep them there you can win.
1. I plan on making it so that people can't over look me.
2. Lawrence Tynes was the first guy who peaked my interest in the game. I love watching guys like Vinatieri and Justin Tucker as well as punters like Sam Koch and Johnny Hekker.
3. Yeti's
4. Wraiths though apparently it's a work in progress.
5. Yes though I just don't see it beating out other sports like Football (Soccer) its more than a sport it's a religion.
1. First.
2. 0 if I didn't have complete faith in my ability why would teams want me?
3. I would be lying if I said that the cooler air and the effect altitude has on the ball doesn't make things more interesting as a kicker I would be lying but I will be happy where ever I play and I can make kicks no matter the conditions.
4. No there's some strong personalities but I have no beef with anyone.
5. Since I discovered it existed and that it was coming into existence the thrill of getting involved in something completely new is extremely exciting for me to be involved with.
1. For foreign players the routes and cuts are completely alien to us there is nothing like it in any other sport, but we all grow up kicking a ball playing Football (Soccer) from when we are children or kicking a rugby ball and those motions and techniques translate easier for us. There's a reason kickers started using "soccer style" over a "toe kick".
2. TV the BBC started broadcasting the Super Bowl and the whole thing just peaked my interest with the sport but my love of the game was cemented when I moved to the US for college.
3. For a kicker size doesn't really matter but for a punter I am under the opinion that it can, if a punt returner gets through the team your the last line of defence and you have to be able to make that tackle.
4. More I'm average in strength in agility and endurance but I'm one of the fastest kickers in the league and the best tackler.
5. For importance Vinatieri's game winning kick in the 2002 Super Bowl and for the style Doug Flouties drop kick.
1. Yes I do, I feel as if I have the ability to make that work. It would also allow GMs to save on a roster spot as well.
2. It's what you make of it to be honest. I reckon if I stay active and find the right balance with my activity on the site I'll have some fun.
3. I've never been a part of another football sim so hopefully this one can be different and we can guys play as 'kickers and punters.
4. A mix between Gostkowski and Pat McAfee
5. Hopefully. My graphics ability is absolutely shocking so I've been asking nicely on request threads for something kickass.
1. 10
2. Luke Tiernan and Kieran O'Connell then we can be the Celtic alliance.
3. Why would I be here if I didn't want to win?
4. I plead the 5th.
5. What ever you are thinking of double that.
1. Every guy up for the draft is able to both kick and punt so I can see a lot of us splitting duties.
2. Oh absolutely, I feel as if I thrive under pressure.
3. The history of the place and the prestige of their sports programs, actually yes there was from University of New England however their rugby programme did not interest me.
4. Distance kicks were something I struggled with so I've been working on my strength to make the distance.
5. Yes that's something that I can offer over the other kickers that I can bring to a team, yes it is.
