Ever since I had the chance to join the team in the last season’s draft, I have spent a lot of time looking at the roster that the New York Silverbacks have been able to put together, and it is very hard not to be impressed at what the team has been able to accomplish!
Even thought they ahave not been a team for a long time, the teams general managers have made some very smart moves and acquired lots of great talent who have already helped the team win a lot of games and will continue to do this for a long time still to come with how young a lot of the players on the team are!
I am hoping that my player is going to be a part of the roster for many seasons which caused me to think about the players that the team has in place already and how it could be fun to go ahead and talk about them in some detail!
I have always enjoyed looking at a team in detail and what it is about the people that they have that can make them be successful and so I am hoping that you will also find this to be the case. I am going to go through the roster on the basis of each position, talking about the players that the team has there and how they compare to the rest of the league at their position. This should hopefully help people learn a bit about the strengths and weaknesses of the team and what it is about them that has helped them to get to the position where they are after a very short time in the league compared to some teams.
I will also try to think about how much of their career each player has left with the team and how much longer the Silverbacks will be able to count on their support. This is the first of two articles that I am going to post and in it I am going to be talking about the Silverbacks offensive players! I hope that you will learn something about the players who are able to put up so many points for the team and why it has been that we are able to win games!
Quarterback
Sam Howitzer (S24)
TPE: 943
The Silverbacks are very lucky to be able to say that they have one of the most talented young Quarterbacks in the entire ISFL playing on their roster! Sam Howitzer is one of the most exciting players in the league and was drafted in the Season 24 ISFL Entry Draft, but was traded to the New York Silverbacks when they joined the league later on.
He has been a very important part of the team and is one of the very best earners out of all the players in his draft. He has already shown how talented he is by helping the Silverbacks get all the way to the ASFC Championship last season and he has got the team off to a great start this season! I would think that it is fair to say that Howitzer might even be the most important part of the team’s success and with him being such a young player too, I think that the team is going to be able to count on his help for a very long time to come too! There is no sign of slowing down for Howitzer and I think that the Silverbacks are going to be very happy to have such a safe starting Quarterback on their team.
There are no other Quarterbacks on the Silverbacks roster besides Howitzer. I have learned that the ISFL does not require teams to carry a Backup Quarterback on their roster, but when you have a player as good as Howitzer on your team I can understand why you wouldn’t need to have any help from any other players at the same position!
Running Back
Ashley Owens (S17)
TPE: 386
We go from a position where the team only has one player to one where the team has 3 players on their team! At the running back position, the Silverbacks have a lot of talent and the first of their players there that we are going to talk about is Ashley Owens. Ashley is the oldest of the three backs that the team has on their roster. He has been in the league for over 10 seasons which is a great achievement for any player to reach in this league and one that he must be very proud of! He is the lowest TPE of the running backs that the team has on their roster but I think that he will make up for this in experience and leadership.
It must be a great help for the younger Running Backs on the team’s roster to have this type of veteran for them to be able to look up to and learn from and I am sure that he has a lot to teach the whole of the team! I do not know how much longer Ashley will be able to play with the team because I am sure he is having to suffer through TPE regression at the minute, but for the moment he is a great person for the team to have around and one that I am sure will be very important to them this season!
Captain Rogers (S24)
TPE: 679
The next Running Back on the team that we will look at is also the second oldest on the team and the player with the most TPE out of all at the position! He is another player who came into the league in the S24 draft which means he is very young and has a lot of time still to play in his career but has enough TPE to be a great player for the team this season too. Captain Rogers is the team’s main Running Back and will be a very important part of the Silverbacks and their Offense for a very long time I would think!
He has a lot of seasons left before he will start to face regression and so I think that he is going to probably be the team’s main Running Back for a lot of seasons still to come. He is a player who I think will also be very important in determining how successful the team is going to be in the next few seasons and he is someone that I can’t wait to be able to share a team with for a long time to come!
Buster Bawlls (S25)
TPE: 483
The final Running Back on the team that we are going to talk about is from S25, which means he is slightly younger than Captain Rogers and will still have a lot of good years ahead of him! Buster Bawlls has the second most TPE out of all of the Running Backs on the Silverbacks roster which means that I think he will get to see a lot of time on the field. He is listed as a Blocking Back which I think means that he will spend a lot of the snaps that he plays lined up as a Fullback! I have not seen many people in this league use this position before so it is interesting to see someone follow a path that is unique!
Bawlls will carry out a very important job for the Silverbacks as he can clear lanes for the teams Running Backs to get through when he plays as a Fullback but he also has the ability to take the ball himself too. He is a very rounded player and the type of piece that I think that the team will be very happy to have in their lineup for a long time to come!
We have talked about all of the Running Backs who are on the New York Silverbacks and now we can move on and discuss another position!
Wide Receiver
Sean Snyder (S22)
TPE: 811
I think that it tells you how young the Silverbacks team is that their oldest Wide Receiver is only 5 seasons old! Sean Snyder has 811 TPE which is the second most out of the Wide Receivers on the Silverbacks and still has a lot of time to improve on that amount before he reaches the seasons that he is going to enter regression. I think that Snyder will be looked at by the other Wide Receivers as a mentor and someone who can teach them a lot about what it is they need to do and the ways that they can get better at doing their job!
He is a tall, strong receiver who I think will be one of the favorite options of Sam Howitzer when it comes to making a pass near the Endzone. Snyder looks like a very important part of the Silverbacks team and I think that they will be very happy that they are going to be able to have him be a part of their roster for a long time still to come!
Jackson Kingston (S23)
TPE: 1031
The second oldest Wide Receiver on the team, Jackson Kingston is also the receiver with the most TPE! He is also the player who has the most TPE out of all of the Silverbacks offense which means that he is definitely a player that the team will rely on a lot! I have heard a lot of people talk about Kingston as being one of the best receivers in the ISFL so I think that he is going to be looked at as someone that the Silverbacks will hope that they can keep on their team for a long time!
He still has many seasons to be played before the time comes for him to enter regression so I think that he should be considered to be one of the most important parts of the team for a long time to come. I am not sure how many years the Silverbacks have been able to sign Kingston for so far but I can’t be the only person who hopes that he still has a very long time left to play for the team!
Harley Fank (S25)
TPE: 628
I think that the Silverbacks are very lucky to not only have two Wide Receivers on their roster who are already star players but to also have a star of the future by the name of Harley Fank! Fank is a very young player, only being drafted in S25 but he has earned a lot of TPE and is already an important player for the Silverbacks.
He is a speed receiver who is able to run faster than almost anyone else, I think that he has a lot of potential to be a great player for the Silverbacks for a very long time to come and he is one more example of how good the young talent that the team has is! Harley will be the type of player that the team wants to be able to keep around for a very long time and I think he is a great player to round out the group of Wide Receivers that the team has in place!
The next position that we are going to talk about is the one that I play on the team, Tight End!
Tight End
James Wilkinson (S27)
TPE: 387
My player, James Wilkinson is the only Tight End that the team has to use. This means that I need to try to keep earning TPE as quickly as I can to help the team and make sure that my player can really be effective! I so far have a little under 400 TPE and I am playing in the ISFL as a rookie after being drafted by the team in the offseason!
I am very happy with the way that things have turned out for James in the first few games that he has played with the team and it is very exciting to see him help the team win games. I plan to spend all of my career playing for the Silverbacks so I hope that they are going to be able to get a lot of time out of my player and even though I am a long way behind the other Tight Ends in the league this season I will be able to catch up with them as quickly as I am able to!
I think that Tight End is the only position on the Silverbacks team that can be thought of as a weakness but I hope that I will be able to fix that when I am more experienced and the team can start to rely on me a lot more! It will be interesting to see if the team has a plan to draft another Tight End in the future to play with James and how that might fit into our General Manager’s plans for the future.
The last position on the team’s offensive unit that we have not talked about yet is the team’s Offensive Line!
Offensive Line
Marlon Alexander (S25)
TPE: 516
I have said about nearly all of the positions that we have talked about so far that they are very exciting, but I think that the Offensive Line that the team has might be the most interesting position of all for the team. They have two very impressive young players who are going to protecting Sam Howitzer for a very long time to come and the first of the two players that we are going to be talking about is Marlon Alexander! Alexander joined the team in the S25 Draft and has shown in the time since then that he has a lot of potential to be a great lineman for a long time to come.
He is a very big person, 6 feet and 7 inches tall and weighing 325 lbs, and I think that any Defensive Tackle who wants to try and get past Alexander is going to have a very tough time doing so! Alexander is the team’s Offensive captain this season and I think that he has had a great start to his career with the team and will be a very important player for the Silverbacks team for a long time to come!
Marc Hamel (S25)
TPE: 508
The other of the star Offensive Line players that the Silverbacks had from the S25 Draft class is Marc Hamel! He and Alexander have been able to form a great pairing so far and I think that the contribution that Hamel has made to help the team win all of their games so far this season can’t be ignored! Hamel is also a very new player for the team and he is going to be an exciting part of the team for a long time to come I would think.
The potential of Hamel and Alexander are both very exciting and I can’t wait to see the way that their careers are going to turn out in the future! As a player who will also get to spend some of the snaps that he has on the team having the chance to block next to Hamel, I can’t wait to see how the rest of his career turns out and what it is we’re able to accomplish playing together!
We have now talked about every player on the New York Silverbacks who plays in the Offensive group! I hope that you have learned something about them and will stay tuned to see the second edition where I will talk about the players who stop the other team from scoring points! I have already learned a lot about my team by writing this article and I can’t wait to see what else the team has to offer!
