As a former participant in Marcella Toriki’s non-profit, Girl Strong, Raeni Clarke is continuing to give back to the organization now that she has joined the ranks of professional football. She’s recently been hosting tours of stadiums across the country as part of their Girls Day Out initiative. This initiate is aimed at getting girls from underserved neighbourhoods the chance to go out and enjoy sporting events that would otherwise be far outside their means to attend. While the focus is on football, Girl Strong has been able to work with female professional athletes in hockey and baseball to host Girls Days Out. Raeni’s days out include a tour of the stadium and a chance to meet local ISFL players before getting to sit on the sidelines to watch a game. She’s been able to connect with a lot of young girls, including a whole group from where she grew up. Taking them around the Concrete Jungle in New York with Peter Brand and her mentor Marcella’s dear friend Bubba Thumper was a real honor. Raeni’s looking forward to seeing the girls she gets to help mentor go on to succeed in their athletic endeavors and feel empowered to take on the world in all elements of life.
It's pretty hard to pick just one charity to donate my time to. I think one of them would be to the Drug Free Program. It's no secret that my father has used illegal drugs in the past, and at times that has hindered our relationship. It's something he doesn't like to talk about but I think there are valuable lessons to be learned from it. I can share my experience with my father and how we are able to work through it. What other things we can do as kids instead of looking to those avenues for release. The other group I would chose to donate my time to would be sub zero. They do a lot of great work for the homeless and look to outreach to many other groups as well. They go out in the middle of the night in heavily populated homeless areas and provide jackets, shoes, and meals for these people. They will take a bus to a city and find an area where people are living without many things we take for granted. My goal would be to provide over one million jackets and pairs of shoes to the homeless for every city that we play in. I think this would be a good start to my career after football.
Though he resides in Germany during the pre- and regular seasons, Clark Boyd always makes sure to head home to New Jersey and stay with his folks in his offseason. And in that time, he likes to give back to the community that he grew up in. He volunteers at local food pantries, such as Rahway Food for Friends or the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Through his social media following, Clark organizes a food drive, and personally drives around to make pick-ups and drop-offs at the food banks in his area. This not only makes it more personable for the people of Middlesex County, it also makes it easier for them to contribute. On top of this, for every pound of food collected, Clark pledges to donate $100 to local shelters. Just in the county area there are 7: Ozanam Inn, Ozanam Family Shelter, FISH Hospitality, NJ HIV Housing Collaborative, Teen Shelter, Warming Centers, and Supportive Services for Veteran Families. Services and facilities like these just do not get the attention or funding they need to provide all they can for the communities they serve. He believes that community is what builds people up, and so whenever he's in town, Clark makes it a personal mission to gather as much support as possible to help those most in need. And in so doing, maybe inspire more people to do likewise.
Swantavius Jones is a generous man. First and foremost he wants everyone to know that. But he's also a man of principle. That's why when he decided to work with Berlin Fire Salamanders team officials to find a charitable venture to embark on, he insisted on keeping firm on his one personal rule: anything Swanty puts his name to must be a pun on his last name.
So they brainstormed. Swantavius Loans? Where he personally guarantees a number of zero interest loans to people who need it most? Management didn't like that. Why not Swantavius Grants? Swanty was annoyed at that suggestion and offered a few more alternatives: Swantavius Stones, a riverbed cleanup charity? Swantavius Cones, an ice cream truck that gives out free snacks? Management were starting to get tired of this shtick, and made it clear to Swanty that charity might be the one area where his silly insistence on puns might result in a bad look on him. So Swanty reluctantly accepted and offered to support whatever noble charity the Berlin management wanted him to. As a result, you'll be able to see Swantavius in action next weekend, volunteering at the Berlin beer fest, collecting and washing up empty steins in order to help keep the beer flowing. Thank you Swanty!
As a frog, and as someone who is one with nature, one of Berlin Fire Salamanders running back Joseph Petrongolo’s favorite ways to give back to the community is by planting trees across the city of Berlin. It must be said that Petrongolo does this because he enjoys breathing oxygen, and definitely not because the fire salamander is the number one leading cause of fires in Germany. Even if that was why, Joseph is still doing a good thing by providing more oxygen to the country. While he and his teammates love spreading knowledge about the wonders of trees and teaching fire prevention FOR THINGS LIKE OVENS AND CAMPFIRES, NOT FIRE SALAMANDERS, they also enjoy volunteering at athletic centers across the city of Berlin. Joseph Petrongolo feels that it is especially important that the children of today get enough physical activity. There is a slight language barrier because Petrongolo hasn’t learned all that much German yet, but many of the children speak English and they help him out too. While not planting trees or learning German from the children, Petrongolo also volunteers at a fire house just outside of Berlin, again not because his coaches made all the players do it to spread awareness of fires caused by fire salamanders, but because he genuinely loves giving back to the community.

Normally, Raphael Delacour fulfils his charity obligations by assisting a variety of local organisations, from food banks, to children's hospital visits; soup kitchens to cat shelters. This year, though, he received a call from his oldest sister, Sophia. She had been selected to play for the World XI in the annual Soccer Aid match, but another name on the list had pulled out at the last minute. Seeing an opportunity to catch up with her little brother, she had called Raphael.
"Honestly, I don't know why I accepted," Raphael later admitted. "I'm terrible at soccer. And Soph knows it." As it turned out, he played just twelve minutes in the match, and was something of a hit with the British public the following day, after a clumsy tackle on a prominent -- and divisive -- British politician resulted in the latter being stretchered off. Unaware of the significance of his actions, Raphael apologised sheepishly and continued the game, only to be ambushed by television cameras at the end. When asked if he had 'a problem' with his "victim", Raphael needed to be rescued by his sister -- who actually assisted the winning goal for the World XI -- who jokingly reminded the camera that "[she] got all the soccer talent in the family" and laughed uncontrollably while revealing that she had in fact, called Raphael hoping for this very scenario. "My brother has fantastic co-ordination usually but for some reason, when he's near a soccer ball, he starts to look like a deer on a frozen lake," she said. "I hoped he'd do something ridiculous like this, so it all paid off." Taking it in stride, Raphael mentioned he'd be checking in on his opponent to make sure he was not seriously hurt, and that he'd be making a £10,000 donation to a charity of his choice as penance. Before disappearing down the tunnel he also added that he'd be getting his own back on Sophia, "maybe we should do a charity game in my sport, I'm sure Soph would love that. We could even be on opposite teams..." I impersonate a programmer for a living
