Training camp is always the time of year where rookies get a chance to shine before preseason, and it was no different for me. I was pretty excited to be there after having been called up from Bondi Beach. But I was still anxious to be seeing an ISFL field for the first time. New York’s locker room quickly calmed my nerves though. They were incredibly supportive my whole time at training camp, and pushed me to be the best player I could be. Training camp is kind of overrated honestly. It’s basically just really long practice for a month, and I hate practice. And it takes place right in the middle of Summer. One silver lining was getting to learn from Captain Rogers, a Silverbacks captain and a top running back. We even came up with some new plays. The quintuple option and our fake punt jet sweep spring to mind. At the end of the day, the best part about Training Camp is just hanging out with the teammates and getting to know them. Whether they’re a rookie or a veteran, it’s always fun to see what their personalities are and get to know them more. So that’s how silverbacks training camp went, all in all pretty uneventful and rather uninteresting.
This training camp was a big deal for Yeboah and the Austin Copperheads. Going in to the regular season they are fancied as one of the teams to go far in the playoffs and possibly go for a Ultimus. After getting to the Ultimus last season but losing to Yellowknife they have brought back basically the whole team apart from a couple of players and are looking to go one further this season.
Training camp resulted in a lot of changes for Tony Yeboah. The biggest change being he is no longer called Tony Yeboah. He’s changed from Tony Yeboah to Annie May. This name change occurred due to Yeboah being a charitable guy and putting his own name up for auction. The auction was won by his own team’s quarterback, Jackie Daytona. Daytona, a known anime lover, decided to give Yeboah, a known anime hater, the name Annie May. He now also looks like a standard anime girl instead of looking like the real Tony Yeboah. After Annie changed her name then her likeness it was near the end of training camp and it was time to get ready for the regular season. Most of the team also showed up towards the end of the regular season and after they got a win in week 1 against Honolulu, their lack of preparation showed as they lost the next three games to slip to a 1-3 record. Training camp was hella good this season I made serious strides in my game getting stronger faster and better quickly after a so so rookie campiagn. Trella had quite the fat offseason nd looks a step slow this season but that's to be expected as the kid loves twinkies. Garrapolo.jr should crush it for us this year as the guy has put in tireless work. This group has a real chance to be big time players this year and majorly improve over last seasons record. I for one am super excited to get done with camp and kick things off the right way pushing for alot of dubs son. After last years early struggles we really wanna get off to a fast start and hit teams where it hurts quickly not messing around with poor starts. We gotta run the rock and our dynamic 2 headed attack of cuddles and sombre should instill fear into teams as we come to town. Other than that I just hope all my teammates had fun this camp as so many of us need each other and need to be a family. Without the leadership in the room I'd be worried but so many players here are true professionals and there is no stopping this group.
