London Royals Record Watch
As they say records are meant to be broken. Nothing can invigorate a locker room or team in general quite like a broken record. Your season 29 Royals have already taken down some records and have left their marks on the Royals franchise already. Most of the records that have gone down are single game records, however I am going to include the Record Watch list in this media as well since some single season records could potentially go down this season. Nothing says I gave my everything to the Royals like having your name etched into franchise lore for all Royals, past and present to see when they visit the Index. As most of you already know this is the Royals 9th season in the DSFL so much of their records are seeing almost annual turnover rates. Then there are ones that are not going to be easy to break, but the current players on the roster are still going to try to break them anyways. We will start by going over all the single game records that have been broken and follow that up with Season records that are on the radars of the current players, and I may even finish with the records that aren’t going to be broken, and the record setters can take a sigh of relief.
Single Game Records Broken during S29:
Longest Field Goal: 57 Yards – Week 4 vs BBB by Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash could very well go down as the greatest kicker of Royals history. He is currently embarking on a season to remember for the London faithful. Not only did he kick a nearly 60 yarder in the ISFL development league, but his leg has been damn near money on every kick he has attempting in Season 29. Dash is 25/25 on extra point kicks. He is also 12/14 on all other field goal attempts. He hasn’t attempted a kick within 20 yards this season, as the Royals offense either gets the ball in the endzone, or their QB throws a red-zone pick. From 20-29 yards away Dash is 1/1, from 30-39 yards away he is 3/3, from 40-49 yards away he has connected on 6 of 7 and finally from 50+ he is 2/3. The Royals can rest assure that if they get within 50 yards of a field goal, they will be walking away with points. Rainbow Dash currently owns all kicking and punting game records and season records for the Royals. He is officially the GOAT in the kicking game for the London franchise.
Longest Kickoff Return: 98 Yards* – week 6 vs Dallas by Bradley Welch
Kickoff Return Touch Downs: 1 *– week 6 vs Dallas by Bradley Welch
• Both of these records are also season records that were set by B. Welch.
London Royals rookie wide out, B-Dub killed two birds with one nasty return in week 6 vs the Birddogs. He broke out the first ever Kickoff Return for a Touchdown in London history, and he did so by taking it to the house from 98 yards deep! Not only did he break two records, but he doubled them up as they are also seasonal records for London. Despite his best effort in that game to keep London Competitive, the Royals still fell to the Birddogs, in a game that may have lasting playoff implications.
Longest Run: 80 Yards – Week 3 vs Seawolves by Kiara Tenoh
Another Royals rookie, Kiara Tenoh started her assault on the London record book early this season. In a Week 3 win over the Seawolves Kiara caught fire an carried this team on her back. The biggest play of the game coming at 10:44 left in the 3rd quarter, closing the lead that Norfolk did have to 21-14. London would go on to win this game with a 2nd Tenoh rushing TD with 12:10 left in the game. The final score of this game period.
Rushing Yards: 224 – Week 3 vs Seawolves by Kiara Tenoh
Rushing Touchdowns: 3 - Week 3 vs Seawolves by Kiara Tenoh
Not only did Tenoh break the record for the longest rush in a London jersey, but Kiara Tenoh had her self a day as she tied the rushing touchdown record for 1 game with 3 scores, equaling herself with former running back Manhattan Project. Project currently holds most of the rushing records for the Royals, as Kiara takes aim at having the best single season by any Royals Running Back…. but more on that in a little bit.
Rushing Attempts: 25 – Week 2 vs KC Coyotes and Week 4 vs BBB by Kiara Tenoh
A week before breaking the longest rush, most rushing yards and most rushing touchdowns in a game for London, Ms. Tenoh was able to break the record for carrying the rock as she did so 25 times in a game that seen London get their first win of the season in convincing fashion over Tijuana. Two weeks later she matched that same mark of 25 vs BBB, giving her record performances in three consecutive weeks for the Royals.
Passing Rating: 137.7 – Week 4 vs BBB by Dustin Parmelee
Completion Percentage: 100 % - Week 4 vs BBB by Dustin Parmelee
A third Rookie to break a single game record for London this season would be QB Dustin Parmelee. He has not had many opportunities to really sling the ball around this season, mainly due to the incredible success RB Tenoh has had. However, in the limited opportunities Dustin had this season, he has tried to make the best of them. A 137.7 Passer rating was accumulated by Dustin completing all 11 of his passes for 83 yards, and two touchdowns. Dustin also was the first QB to complete every pass he attempted in a game that very same week. Sure it was only 11 passes, and maybe London has seen stretches from past QBs that included completing 11 in a row, however the difference is those games the QBs did throw at least 1 interception, and in this game DP did not. He was out played by BBB QB Zaylren who threw the ball all game long and finished with the final stat line of 29-56 for 308-Yards and 2-TDs, but the Royals came away with the 34-17 victory.
Passing Interceptions: 3 – Week 8 vs KC Coyotes by Dustin Parmelee
Well, this isn’t exactly the most prestigious record to hold, but Dustin Parmelee did in fact throw the most interceptions by any London QB in one game. After a good start for Dustin in that game throwing for two first half scores, the second half just did not have the same mojo for DP who found passing the ball a tough task in the 2nd half and bottling up DP for really the first time in his career. With very little success in the 2nd half the Coyotes were able to build up their lead pretty quickly and started to open up their offense against the quickly tiring defense who lack energy due to being on the field for so much in the 2nd half as the Royal offense just spat and sputtered for the rest of the game. Between bad passes, and dropped passes, and penalties, whether nullifying a big gain and or score for London or giving KC free yardage on offense with auto-mic first downs 3 times in one drive during the second quarter the Touch Down that KC would eventually score on this drive closed the lead the Royals had from 10 to only 3. The Royals would not score on offense again for the rest of this day. One penalty was by Savior for pass interference, automatic first down. The next penalty was on Sam Squanch who made a horse collar tackle on the ball carrier, Troy Abed allowing another first down as the result. Then on the very next play Jaroppolo would throw his first interception of the season, except the play gets nullified due to a defensive holding penalty on Sam Squanch. Causing an auto-Matic first down and put the ball on the 4 yard line. Allowing the score to happen right before half time, building momentum for the Coyotes, while Dustin Parmelee stepped into some quick sand and quickly sunk, and was unable to pull himself out of it as he would go on to throw 3 interceptions in the 2nd half, directly impacting the finish in this game, and allowed KC to pull away and eventually putting a bow on this one as they kicked our Royal High – Knees. Parmelee has to pick his game up in these type of situations in the future, because that was a bit of a pathetic showing the other day against a defense that he absolutely owned in the first 6 quarters of these two teams’ game. However, its not how you started its how you finish, and Kansas City picked their games up and absolutely went on to a crushing victory over your beloved Royals and taking themselves out of first and out of the playoffs completely. If they were going to see the post-season they would not be in control of their own destiny, they would need some things to fall in their favor in order for that to happen. They are now technically not in a playoff position and could potentially miss out of the post-season festivities for the first time since S27.
Season Records That May Be in Jeopardy:
Rushing Yards – Current Record: 1134 Yards by Manhattan Project.
Potential Record Breaker – Kiara Tenoh – 923 Yards with 5 games to play.
The meteoritical icing on the cake for this season would be the inevitable rushing record Kenoh will hold after this season. With 5 games left and only needing 211 rushing yards to break the record, it seems as though this record is just a matter of time before it’s broken this season.
Rushing Touchdowns – Current Record: 10 by Manhattan Project.
Potential Record Breaker – Kiara Tenoh – 7 Touchdowns with 5 games left to play.
With how much Tenoh has already scored on the ground for London, she only needs a few more scores before she is the all-time single season rushing touchdowns record holder here for the London Royals. Tenoh is nearly a living legend in her rookie season. Absolutely amazing.
Forced Fumbles: - 5 -
Savior Hawkins and Lucid Dreams both have 3!
That’s all I have time for right now, and I wanna submit this before it gets into the next week.
