:stoked: Let us know what you think: :stoked:
-On many simulation leagues, people will create trading cards for their players to use as avatars, signatures, etc. It could be said that many people enjoy the process of creating these, and would entertain having more creative ideas and opportunities for graphics work.
-In the NSFL as people become more active and earn more money, there will be more excess money in people’s bank accounts, as there is only so much they can spend per season on TPE related activities (unless they’re heavy gamblers).
-In real life, people love opening packs and collecting trading cards for sports teams
-The league is always looking for more opportunities to get both new creates and veterans more invested in the players, and more excited about the league itself.
All of that being said, we think that it would be an interesting opportunity for the league to implement some sort of trading card system, where players can spend their extra money on virtual packs of NSFL player cards. These would be similar to packs irl, with a random assortment of base cards, autograph cards, inserts, etc. in each pack. Some cards will be common like base, while some only a certain amount of users would get (example: an insert). Users could make threads to keep track of their collections, while the card makers/organizers (which could be league positions) keep record of who owns what so that people can’t just copy the image. Some ideas for individual packs which could come out over the seasons are those having only draft picks for an upcoming draft, inserts/packs with NSFL legends, packs for the pro bowl, etc.
Packs could be bought and then dished out via random thing picker, with links to relevant image files (for the cards) then being provided to the users. Ultimately we think it would be a fun thing for users to partake in, all the while building on how layered and deep the league feels. We also think it could add another element to the league which other sim leagues lack—just another layer of the league to keep users interested and coming back.
Different interested users could have jobs making the actual cards, while others regulate the pack opening and organizing.
Included below are some examples of base cards from each team, a prospect card (one with and w/o an autograph), and an insert.
We know it could be far-fetched, but we also feel like it may be a cool thing to look into!
