Antonio Sandoval has been seen putting in the work to become the top Offensive Line in the NSFL. People have reported seeing him working on the field for 20 hours non-stop. We decided to follow him for a total of a week to see his training patterns and secure an interview with him. Some may see this as "Unethical" or "An Invasion of Privacy" or "Literally Stalking Someone." Those people do not know the meaning of true journalism. This is journalism at it's core. He got to work the day after the Yeti were eliminated from the playoffs.
After 3 weeks of high stealth surveillance, I have found this. He spent about 483 out of 504 hours in a week working on improving his game. Other media outlets will report a number around 420 hours. We have something they do not. Cameras in his house. He was doing work in the house. He was not willing to speak with the media for the entire week, but has finally opened up with a tweet. "I am now willing to speak to the media." Fortunately, I just so happened to be in the area right as he released the tweet. This will be the first interview with him since he went on his media hiatus.
Why have you started to work at an insane rate?
"The disappointment of not making the playoffs has pushed me to a level of work previously thought impossible by the human body. I have vowed that next year, I will make a significant benefit on a playoff team. Scratch that. A championship team. I will never be labeled a liability again."
People did say that the main reason the Yeti did not make the playoffs was a weak offensive line, is that why you started to work?
"I let my team down. I had the opportunity to help this team ascend to the next level and bring a championship to Colorado. Instead, I failed and was a part of the weakest group in the NSFL, no offense to my teammates. I need to keep working. I must never stop. If I stop, I will regress. I must never regress. If I regress, I will lose games. I must never lose games. If I lose games, I am a failure. I must never be a failure. If I am a failure, then I have no purpose."
Quite strong words from you. You said "I must never stop working." Is that why you did not answer the media?
"I do not need the distraction of media in my life. Expect me to be shutoff from interviews until I am a champion, or I feel I have done enough work for a small media break to not affect my progression to the top. Once I have reached the top, the top will keep getting further away, until I win a championship. I have completely been off the grid for the past 3 weeks. These 3 weeks have been the best 3 weeks of my life as I have proven to myself and the world that I can do things no one else can."
How lovely! How important is work to you?
"Work is the most important thing in the world. Work gives you a purpose, a reason to live. Work leads to winning. Winning is the greatest feeling of all. If you win a championship, the only place to go from there is another championship or down. Nothing is higher than a championship. I will bring a championship to any team that drafts me, one way or another. That is enough for now. I must get back to work"
What a great interview!
