I have only been in this league for a month, but it has easily been one of my favorite online experiences ever. I truly believe my life has been uphill mentally and physically thanks to this community. I've managed to get more inspiration to work out just by talking about working out with people on the discord. It has also been a place for me to vent my issues and annoyances. When first coming in to this league I didn't think I would be to active, but after just a few days I found myself absorbed by the content. I have been able to talk about things I enjoy with people who are supportive and willing to talk. I can also always rely on messaging someone if I need help, and will usually get a response within the hour. It really stands out to me that although there is a lot of people in this league, It still feels like I know everyone. If there is one complaint I could make, it would be that there isn't enough DSFL games on per week!

At this point I’m not even in the ISFL just yet but I’m having a great time. I’ve gotten to see multiple locker rooms, officially on the team for two of them so far. There are two things that really stick out to me as my favorite experiences in my short time with the league. The first would be the communities that exist throughout the forums and discord channels. At first, I viewed this as a negative with what I perceived as fragmented BUT the communities really blend. I see a lot of familiar, mostly friendly (Although some stinky), faces through multiple areas. The community members do a great job of policing themselves and welcoming just about everyone. From a non-football perspective this is probably the greatest strength this league has to its continuing success. As for something football specific the teams do a great job of putting together an exciting draft. As a DSFL waiver wire I couldn’t tell you how excited I was leading up to the draft. The DSFL one, not the NFL one that continued to delay the inevitable. I’m equally excited for the ISFL draft and look forward to hopefully creating an experience like that for other new members down the road.

Next month will be my 5 year ISFL anniversary. Which is pretty crazy, it feels like it's been longer than that while simultaneously feeling like I joined just recently and some memories of the early seasons still seem quite fresh. The main thing that has impacted me in this league is the friends I've made, mostly in the NOLA and Tijuana locker rooms, but lots of others along the way as well. The atmosphere in the individual locker rooms is my favourite part of sim leagues, I don't really interact much in the general discord but teams that have created a fun locker room to be in usually end up being the ones that see success as well. It's much easier to stay active when you're interacting with the rest of your teammates daily just talking about whatever.
Some highlights from these locker rooms for me include the trial we had in NOLA when it turned out Beaver predicted the Yeti to beat us, the collaborative effort to create a banner when NOLA won our first championship, Payton telling us about the cute new cash girl at his work and them now dating for probably 4 years (and also doing #askcashgirl so she could be asked weird questions by strangers on the internet, and then her joining the locker room and becoming our friend), Bovo promising if the Yeti went back to back winless seasons he'd plunger his bumhole and then not coming through (also the crying Jordan Yeti logo that was made and is still an emoji in the LR), the day we spammed media with shitposts which happened to also be when a big recruiting post was made so slm was like wtf (and just memeing the league in general especially when we started winning) The creation and overuse of "doot doot" The day we gave tbone a heap of girl advice and then shortly after he went inactive probably bc of all the attention he was getting bc of our advice, (either that or bc one day he bet bovo that he couldn't go a day without saying lol and bovo said he'd write him a poem if he failed and he failed but he never wrote the poem) constant use of :eyes: or quoting bovo saying "my man" or "lol", spec wanting to become a GM and leaving for OCO but then not long after a co GM spot opening up in NOLA but literally every single one of his messages in the LR having anywhere from 4-15 snake reactions for months afterwards. A conversation in Tijuana LR about trading cards and how it would be cool if the ISFL had them lead to the creation of dotts, Al streaming fishing simulator and heaps of us just chilling watching him, the S22 superlatives and also games of jackbox which lead to interesting versions of our logo, jpach and I ruining every counting channel by just posting 6 all the time, sloth confusing everyone with his name/avatar combo, whenever there's drama in any sim league it gets posted and someone who knows about it can explain (and ofc Beaver gets tagged) getting ready to chant, being told that I should get out of my moms basement and get a girlfriend, abusing waivers mith and swanky getting fined, plus many many more good times I can't even think of right now and plus I've gone way over 150 words so bye edit: holy shit I nearly forgot when tonzy had to eat a microwaved salad lmao Donatello McTurtle || CB/OL #72 || Tijuana || New York || S33-S44
Ben Alexander-Arnold || CB/FB #66 || TIJ || AUS/NO || S24-S33

Hopping into the NSFL/ISFL time machine today, I stumbled upon a post dated October 16, 2017. It was a post describing the results of the NSFL Season 3 Combine, where my first player was a participant. Defensive End J.D. Boom to be formal, although he was more of a bust to be completely honest. He had a ton of potential, as shown by this screenshot(and no, I wasn't the author of this post)...
Sounds like a pretty good player, right? Like I said, potentially he could have been a great one, but the user talent never backed up the player talent unfortunately. I look back at that time while trying to come up with something for this weeks point task, and regret many decisions that I made during the early years of my time in player sim leagues. Frustration and life issues made for a few too many early retirements and a hit to my sim reputation, which might even linger to this day. Whatever, it's out of my control at this point. Hey, I even found a sig..wait, I'm not 100% if that's even from the NSFL. Ooops. Anyway, I was here for a while 5 years ago, and after something like 25 or 26 seasons away, I'm back here with Hunter, and while he's bounced around a bit, I'm here in Honolulu for now and enjoying it. Even though it's had a new name for a good while now, I'll always remember the (N)Isfl's early days and look back with mixed emotions. May the league, whatever it's called, stay strong, active and entertaining.
This is probably going to be lame, but since I am very new to the ISFL - only being around for 2 months - I think that really the most impactful thing to me that has happened in the league is the S36 draft class. There are so many great users that not only make this a potentially historic draft class on the field, but could have lasting impact for the future of the league as a whole as members of league administration. They have also pushed me to be better in so many ways. I have watched other great users like (not going to actually tag them because thats too much effort on mobile) Xave, Twenty6, Regpnar, PurpleReign, Big Joe Reed, and probably a dozen others that I couldn't think of continue to consistently gain TPE, pump out media, and generally create an inviting and social environment that I haven't experienced in probably a decade.
