[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Another season in the books for the NSFL, the Outlaws have reigned supreme yet again. We have just finished the S3 draft too where many of our waiver players were picked up. In this final article of Waiver Watch Season 2, we will analyse the season performances of the players who hit the waiver wire and how they will fit in with their respective teams.
Brice Boggs - Linebacker (Yellowknife Wraiths) S3 PROSPECT
Boggs finished the season with 82 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, (T-10th), 2 forced fumbles, 6 sacks, 1 interception and 3 pass deflections. A very solid season considering he was the often behind experienced players such as Cushing and Hackett for most of the season. Brice Boggs who many though would go #1 overall, dropped to the third pick of the draft only to be picked up by the Wraiths for the second consecutive season. Boggs follows in Lavelle's footsteps of being both a waiver player and draftee on the Wraiths. Many will hope that after putting up solid pre rookie numbers, he doesn't catch Cushing syndrome.
Shi'terrick Marks - Defensive Tackle (Yellowknife Wraiths) S3 PROSPECT
Skidmarks or "Marks" as anybody sane would call him played in 9 regular season games this season recording 23 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 3 sacks. Not champ numbers, but not chump either. The weakest part of the Wraiths defensive line, Marks did a solid job. The recently moved Bjornsson meant Bender was keeping Marks company in the middle of the field. Marks was drafted in the 6th round, #44 by the Colorado Yeti. Time will tell as to whether this is a good pick, his development could spike in the coming months.
Jughead Jones - Offensive Lineman (Yellowknife Wraiths) S3 PROSPECT
Jughead Jones played in 8 games for the Wraiths in S2. He recorded 27 pancakes whilst allowing 0 sacks. That's the second best showing in terms of sacks allowed among all offensive lineman not named Tim Pest. Jughead had a solid season in Yellowknife and many would have pegged him as a 3rd to 4th round pick. Jones fell to the 5th round and was picked up by the Yeti with pick 36. Offensive line is a big need for the Yeti which means Jones will slot right into a starting role.
Erlich Burnsman - Running Back (Yellowknife Wraiths) S3 PROSPECT
Burnsman was picked up very late in the season by Yellowknife, infact he only played in a mere 2 games. He had 12 carries for 37 yards and 1 touchdown. Considering his very limited snaps Burnsman quickly became favored by the Wraiths traveling support. BUUUURRRRNNNNSSSS could be heard around the stadium any time the fans spotted Bursnman on the field. His fan base rivaled that of the legendary Zobot Bigboy17's. Burnsman was picked #14th for the Otters, possibly a replacement for the recently retired Vick Bowers Jr. It will be interesting how this plays out with many critics considering this pick to be a reach.
Antonio Sandoval - Offensive Lineman (Colorado Yeti) S3 PROSPECT
Antonio managed to play in 12 games for the Yeti, he tacked on 30 pancakes whilst allowing 7 sacks (T-8TH). Sandoval had a relatively okay season for the Yeti, on one of if not the weakest offensive line in the NSFL, blocking as a big job. 30 pancakes is an average amount but the most worrying stat is his sacks allowed. Although it's very likely that the pancakes occurred from picking up other teammates rushers, Ant will hope to see a decrease next year. Returning to the Yeti with the #1 pick, there's not a lot to say except business as usual.
J.D. Boom - Defensive End (Baltimore Hawks) S3 PROSPECT
J.D. Boom finished the regular season playing in all 14 games whilst racking up 40 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 7 sacks (T-10th). A solid season which has built a foundation he needs to build on to become a dominant defensive end in this league. Boom is a polarizing figure having prior to the draft declared that he would not show up to mandatory training camps if drafted. Critics posed the question WHY? Why enter the NSFL is you don't want to be drafted? Was this all a ploy? Does this attitude cite him as a potential red flag for any team interested in his future? Regardless Boom was picked up in the 4th round by the Otters with pick #25. Hopefully for the Otters this will give them a chance to atleast surpass the conference finals this year.
Wallace Stone - Offensive Lineman (Baltimore Hawks) S3 PROSPECT
Wallace Stone as expected got very limited snaps in a hawks jersey. 3 games played and 8 pancakes to show for it while allowing a single sack. We can't extrapolate using this data because he had such a small volume of games. We can however say that he was a great pick. The Legion picked him up at #18 and he will slot into a starting spot with the worst team in the league. However if the Legion can hold onto this prospect and he develops like we think he will, he may well be a franchise player.
Ricardo Sandoval - Defensive Tackle (Orange County Otters) S3 PROSPECT
Ricardo played in 6 games this year gathering 22 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 2 sacks. A decent statline but needs to be improved if the Hawks want to see some franchise production out of him. After all they spent the #7 pick on him when it's debatable that their were better players still on the board. Regardless Sandoval could turn out to be one of the best players out of this draft if he doesn't get bored playing defensive tackle like he previously alluded to media.
Romeo Devitt - Defensive Tackle (Orange County Otters) S1 VETERAN
Devitt finishes his last season in the NSFL with 9 games played, 13 tackles, 1 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. His career ends not with a bang, but with a whimper. Many ponder as to what could have been. but alas it's the end of the line for injury ridden Romeo Devitt.
Trey Willie - Wide Receiver (Orange County Otters) S3 PROSPECT
Trey Willie played in 12 games this season recording 24 catches for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns. Willie slotted in behind Westfield and Phelps this year and acted more as touchdown maker than a chain mover. His incredibly low yardage was due to limited throws his ways but his 4 touchdowns from only 24 catches established himself as a spark plug in the Orange County offense. Trey Willie was picked up by the Baltimore Hawks with the 10th pick of the draft. My only concern with this is despite picking up a solid receiver is their lack of a quality quarterback. To date Scrub has lived up to his first name above everything else. Will Willie's career suffer being on the Hawks? Could we see a Megatron situation here? Only time will tell.
Al Sims - Kicker/Punter (Orange County Otters) S3 PROSPECT
Sims finished the season with 3 games played, 9/9 extra points, 2/3 field goals made with 22 punts for 974 yards and 4 coffin punts. Quality stats from an ever-developing player in the NSFL. Sims fell all the way to #38 to be picked up by the Otters. Possible red flags surfaced around the league following attitude problems and a possible over reliance on contract cash amount which no doubt led to his drop in the draft. Regardless we could see Sims become one of if not the best special teams player in the NSFL in the upcoming years.
Mark Strike - Quarterback (Arizona Outlaws) S3 PROSPECT
Ah yes. Earlier in the season Mr Strike was happy to have just narrowly missed out on being named and shamed in this article series, well fear no longer Mark. For any of you that don't know, Strike is the backup quarterback for the dominating champions, the Outlaws. Strike finished this year with officially "6" games played, 5/9 completions 98 yards and 2 interceptions. He also had a wonderful 5 rushes for 0 yards. Strike is a raw prospect no doubt and despite his meltdown in the Ultimus Cup finals, we believe that we will see him in the DSFL this season after the Outlaws picked him at #26 to keep him in with the chance of getting another ring by default.
Gavin Graham - Safety (Arizona Outlaws) S3 PROSPECT
Graham played in 6 games this year recording a massive 1 tackle. We can't really predict how he will do considering we have seen next to nothing from him. He's a raw prospect at best and if there's any team that screams raw prospects it's the Liberty. They picked him up with pick #59 to likely just fill a hole. It's hard to project exactly what will happen to Graham, most signs point to a roleplayer rather than star in the league.
Godfrey King - Defensive Tackle (Arizona Outlaws) S3 PROSPECT
King played in 12 games this season, 17 tackles and 5 sacks. King showed himself as a player who despite being right at the middle of the pack in terms of development, is an impact player. Racking up 5 sacks from the defensive tackle position is impressive, but will he be able to carry that form throughout this upcoming season? Regardless King was drafted by the Outlaws at #2. Likely to drop into his old position at defensive tackle, many do feel this was a reach. After all the Outlaws could have picked a better developed player and then possibly traded with another team to gain King and another pick. Regardless the Outlaws don't need to complicate anything else because it doesn't matter what anybody else does, they will be champions if they don't drop off.
Jaxon Tuck - Running Back (Arizona Outlaws) S3 PROSPECT
Tuck participated in 10 games in S2, 50 attempts for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns and receiving 16 passes for 153 yards and 1 touchdown. Tuck established himself as an all purpose back, meaning he can literally slot in anywhere for the Outlaws at any given time. Unsurprisingly Tuck was picked again by the Outlaws but not where you'd think, at pick #40. Many had suggested Tuck would be a first round pick, second round at the very latest. We don't know why he dropped or how, but all we know is the Outlaws got a steal.
Sachimo Zoidberg - Offensive Lineman (Arizona Outlaws) S3 PROSPECT
Zoidberg starred in 6 games for the Outlaws with 18 pancakes while allowing 3 sacks all season. Zoidberg had been tipped by many to be a top tier pick but unfortunately life doesn't always go the way it's planned. Zoidberg shocked the media stating that he will be retiring at the end of the season and will not enter the NSFL S3 Draft. Rumours have circulated on social media that Zoidberg has been contacted by EFL team L.A. Reign and is likely to sign in the EFL.
Sammy Walters - Offensive Lineman (San Jose SaberCats) S3 PROSPECT
Walters played in every game this season, recording 30 pancakes while allowing 2 sacks. A solid season from a prospect many didn't expect to take off. Walters was picked with #29 by the Liberty in the S3 draft. Many here expect Walter to have a Tim Pest - esque rookie season this year so he will be one to watch..
Brian Wheat - Wide Receiver (San Jose SaberCats) S3 PROSPECT
Wheat finished the season with 26 catches for 243 yard and no touchdowns in his 9 games played. Wheat spent most of the season behind both Smallwood and Weston who are top tier receivers in the league so naturally his stats are going to be underwhelming. However Wheat's commitment to improving his physical abilities both on and off the pitch are second to none. The Hawks picked up Brian Wheat late in the draft, at pick #47 to be exact. Wheat was one of the best wide outs in the draft this year, although it was a shallow draft pool.
Calkewlated Chambers III - Defensive Tackle (San Jose SaberCats) S3 PROSPECT
CC3 didn't play a single snap in the NSFL and will be looking to make his debut in S3 in yet again, San Jose colours. San Jose will hope that CC3 will be the difference they need to challenge in the ASFC and avoid another punching bag season. Time will tell if Chambers is worth the pick.
Iyah Blewitt - Kicker/Punter (Las Vegas Legion) S3 PROSPECT
Blewitt finished S2 with 21/23 from extra points and 14/22 from field goals. Punting stats stood at 111 punts for 5027 yards and 20>20's. While his kick stats are a bit of a shocker considering he missed two gimme field goals from <30 and another 2 from <40, we rack this down to nerves. Besides if he was that bad he wouldn't have been picked at #5 by the SaberCats...right? Right? Regardless as with any kicker/punter in the league , consistency is key and Blewitt has been exactly that during his development.
Luc Long - Offensive Lineman (Las Vegas Legion) S3 PROSPECT
Luc Long played an entire season in his pre-rookie season for the Las Vegas Legion. 22 pancakes and 10 sacks allowed. Not a great season, infact you could call it a pretty poor one but considering he's on the Legion we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately Luc Long decided prior to the draft to retire and announced that he will be relocating to the Cayman Islands following a recent inheritance from his recently deceased father. Rest in piece , Michael Long.
Tyler Grant - Cornerback (Las Vegas Legion) S3 PROSPECT
Tyler Grant starred in 9 games this year, posting 19 tackles and 3 pass deflections. Considering he played the season on the Legion again we can give him the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of this, he got drafted to the Legion again at pick #42. This season will be make or break Grant and many critics question his ability to make plays. We're writing the last year off as a fluke though, Grant will shine in the upcoming season.
Francis Lamoreux - Offensive Lineman (Las Vegas Legion) S3 PROSPECT
Lamoreux spent his season on the Legion last year, playing in 3 games recording 3 pancakes while allowing a single sack. Again the stats are too low in volume to presume but, sources have claimed that Francis Lamoreux has been a vocal leader in the Legion locker room. A locker room that really needs a leader too. Lamoreux was projected to be a first round pick but just dropped to the second with the Wraiths picking him up at #9. Lamoreux will no doubt aim to learn from pro bowlers Mat Akselsen and Jogn Floggity and we could well see three Wraiths offensive lineman in the S3 Pro-Bowl.
Jordan Danvers - Offensive Lineman (Philadelphia Liberty) S3 PROSPECT
The last prospect on our list for this series, Danvers spent his waiver season on the Liberty playing in every game and obtaining 33 pancakes while allowing 9 sacks (6th worst). A decent amount of pancakes but an alarming amount of sacks in a season. Danvers will need to work hard if he's to impress the Hawks who picked him up with pick #60. While many teams often just aim to pick anybody who's left over and is still on the board, The Hawks may have just picked up a steal with Danvers.
This concludes our coverage of the waiver wire for season 2. Next season with the new changes coming in place regarding waiver players, we will not be covering NSFL players. Our series will continue but instead the spotlight will be shone onto upcoming DSFL players.
