As many of you know, I'm trying to play out an interesting arch for my current player. You can find out more about what I'm trying to do here. In short summary I noticed that ISFL teams sometimes have a hard time getting their QB of the future to hit their window of opportunity so that the team can maintain long term success and maybe even a shot at a title. Other teams might be in the process of rebuilding but are hit with unexpected retirements or can't attract new talent without a quality QB. So, to address that specifically, Adrian St. Christmas will act as a stop-gap for teams who are currently in the process of transitioning between their former starter QBs and their newcomers. This will help the teams to stay competitive in the meantime. Then, once he's done, he’ll go to the highest bidding team that shows they won’t have a need for him within a couple of seasons. He'll be a max earner and trade friendly and all that.
Several users have indicated that they're interesting in seeing how this all plays out so I wanted to make sure that I remain open about it. Unfortunately, I am well overdue for a follow up article on how Adrian's career has been advancing thus far. And on another note, laying all this out helps to advance his career aims because it keeps any interested teams in the loop with what I may be thinking and what Adrian's next move is.
Adrian St. Christmas was drafted in the S37 ISFL draft by the Honolulu Hahalua, a move that would happily bring me as a user to the team for more than a mere 2 hours. It was also a surprising move because Honolulu had previously drafted the very capable @OrbitingDeath to be their QB of the future. Adrian stayed down in the DSFL for just one season with the Portland Pythons and —not that it has much bearing on his potential for ISFL success— had an MVP caliber season. Thanks to his GMs, @CptGoosar and @PugWalrus, and teammates, Adrian went 307 for 481 (64%), threw for 3730 yards, and had a 35 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio. This set a league record, 107.5 QBR, and earned him Offensive Player of the Year honors. Although Adrian St. Christmas regretfully couldn't get the team over the Ulimini finish line, I truly enjoyed my time in Portland, something the little old-school Luchador inside of me never thought would happen.
But enough burying the lede. Honolulu surprised the league by calling Adrian St. Christmas up to play QB instead of Orbiting Death's player, Nova Montagne. This only came about because either @"Laser" retired earlier than expected or Orbiting Death wanted to stay down a little longer than expected. Truthfully, it was probably a little bit of both. But make no mistake —Nova Montagne is still the Hahalua QB of the future. In any event, it created a small window of opportunity for Adrian St. Christmas to cut his teeth in the league as a lowly 500tpe QB. This is reflected in our perfect record this season, but the team has remained in good spirits throughout it all. More importantly, St. Christmas filled his role: Laser, Orbiting Death, and the Hahalua at large all got to have their cake and eat it too. Moreover, I remained faithful to Adrian's gap filling role and, if my DMs are any indication, I will be able to do so moving forward.
Yes, that's right, at least three teams have already reached out to me about Adrian St. Christmas playing for them after this season. Four if you count the Hahalua. So, dear ISFL GMs, consider this your reminder that Adrian's contract renders him tamperable at all times. That being said, I've also committed to returning value to the Hahalua for the faith they put in me on draft day. So, this will be the one time in Adrian's career that I break with my usual methodology for evaluating his future home and instead give one team greater preference than the others. As of this moment, the Hahalua are still undecided whether and how they will use me next season. Will they roll out the tank machine again? Will they look to capture some value by trading Adrian St. Christmas to another QB needy team? You'll have to ask them. I'm up for anything, but keep me updated as well. I've gotten along great with @IceBear32 and @MMFLEX, so I'm sure something can be worked out if there is enough interest. Where there is a will, there's a way.
And that rings true even if the will and the way are a few seasons out! ISFL GMs, you know where your windows are at (or you should). There is no reason you can't reach out to me about a window that you expect to open three or five seasons from now. I continue to earn at a high rate (20 tpe or so from first in the class) so just imagine for a moment what a 1300 or 1400tpe gap filler QB will be able to do to extend your team's playoff push just that much longer. Or how will the sim respond to a maxed out QB backing up another maxed out QB so each can stay fresh and efficient on the field? From what I understand, that's uncharted territory and I'm happy to help you pioneer it.
In conclusion, my plans for next season are still up in the air, but they won't be for long! As of right now, I'm going to keep the teams that reached out to me private (I haven't addressed this particular point with any of them and I haven't fully decided what my policy will be that on that going forward). Nevertheless, I'm happy to talk generalities here on this post and specifics in my DMs.
Happy planning!
Oh and also, I never know when there is a media bonus or whatever. So if there is a media bonus please read this media in whatever light is most likely to show its very intentionally-met qualifications.
Edit: Just thought of something else I wanted to add. Maybe I'm biased, but I think Adrian St. Christmas actually has done an admirable job at the helm in Honolulu this season given his low tpe level and experience. Certainly much of that is credited to the GMs and teammates, but while the team is last in almost every single metric, both offensive and defensive, they are actually middle of the road when it comes to passing offense. So far, Adrian has completed a respectable 63.5% of his 600 passes, 26 of which went for touchdowns and 12 of which went for interceptions. He's actually third in the league in total receptions and has a 88.1 QBR. Earth-shattering? Maybe not. But multiplied over a 9 season career, these stats would have Adrian in the top 5 or 10 in most categories. Add in a couple of awards or even a ring and you might have yourself a HOF QB on your hands. So this isn't a player who is going to tank your team on his own (unless you want him to). And on top of all that, there is still a lot of room to grow his build in the way that would be most helpful for your team. I'm certainly open to direction when it comes to build advice.
