Task 1

Congratulations to the Arizona outlaws on their season 37 championship. Arizona would also win the ASFC  division this season with a league best 13 and three record. let's take a quick look at the asfc, as we just said Arizona was the top team in the division, followed up by the San Jose sabercats who went ten and six on the year the New York silverbacks went nine and seven the Orange County Otters finished nine and seven as well the Austin copperheads eight and eight the New Orleans second line eight and eight and the Honolulu Hahalua finished at 0-16. now I'm not too sure but is that the first time a team has finished the season not winning a single game interesting. over on the NSFC the Division was tied at the top with the Berlin fire salamanders going ten and six the yellow knife Wraiths also going 10 and six the Baltimore Hawks going to nine and seven the Sarasota sailfish going 7 to 9 the Chicago butchers going 7 in 9 the Philadelphia liberty 7-9 and the Colorado Yeti going 5 and 11. The playoff teams this season were in the ASFC the number one seed outlaws taking the number four seed otters, the number two seed Sabercats taken on the number three seed silverbacks. In the NSFC the number one seed fire salamanders will take on the number four seed sailfish the number two seed Wraiths would take on the number three seed Baltimore Hawks. Taking a look at the Arizona outlaws first match up in the playoffs taking on the Orange County otters, the final score was Arizona 34 and the otters 31 in a very tightly contested matchup to much surprise. the quarterback for the otters threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 98 yards and a touchdown really keeping their team alive on the Arizona side Wendell sailor through for 212 yards and two touchdowns with Jay Cue junior running all over the otters defense while 130 yards on 20 carries for a touchdown while also getting 53 yards through the air to propel the Arizona to their first round victory. My Saber cats would unfortunately fall 31 to 9 against the silverbacks in the first round in a somewhat upset finish, Malcolm savage for the silverbacks would go 371 yards through the year and four touchdowns leading the offensive attack against a formidable San Jose defense the receivers for the silverbacks had two go for over 100 yards and both with two Touchdowns with Lenard Graf, and McHollywood. The outlaws would then move on to take on the silverbacks in the conference championship winning a somewhat again tight game 31 to 28 having originally been shut out in the first quarter but climbing their way to a victory. Malkin savage threw for three touchdowns but only 259 yards while Wendell sailor threw for 149 yards and three touchdowns with Jay Cue junior again rushing his way to 159 yards on 26 carries and a touchdown also had five yards through the air leading the offensive attack for Arizona again in the second matchup and clearly looking like a solid playoff MVP. Let's move on to the ultimus championship as the Berlin fire salamanders fell to the Arizona outlaws 21 to 23 and again another tightly contested matchup. Bageshwari Singh threw for 310 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Oh while sailor through for 322 yards and two touchdowns with Cue Jr. being held under 100 yards for the first time this playoff season but still getting 95 yards on 22 attempts averaging 4.3 yards a carry but no touchdowns. Staggs, would have 187 receiving yards for two touchdowns would be the MVP of the championship. Overall, this was a very very good playoff with a lot of tight matchups a few upsets with Arizona going in as the heavy favorite and still coming out on top though in some very tightly contested matchups riding the hot hand of Jay Cue junior.

This All-Star offense team from this past season is gonna be padding some specific stats to see if we can use simple stats to create a super team. Every position was hand-picked for their ability to do one specific stat and hopefully if this team every becomes a reality, no team stands a chance against them.

Now I wanted to fit myself somewhere on this team because I am a bit of a narcissist, but I also don't want to mess up my team too much. Currently, I have not proven myself on defense enough to be the best of the best. But if my offense is as good as I think they are, the punter will never see the field and I will have secured the bag and the easiest position on the team!

I know the team is a pipe dream but maybe some year we'll all be in the same division and the pro bowl will be a VERY one-sided affair.

32. Cape Town Crash

I was shocked when the Philadelphia Liberty announced their rebranding and I will be the first to admit that I was a little skeptical at first, but I love change. I've been asking for an expansion for a while now, mostly because I have a team idea for myself that I want to unveil, however that's beside the point! Seeing up and coming teams start from the very bottom to grow has been awesome to see especially since I was on one of those teams myself! It is really out of the ordinary for an established team to make a huge brand change, after Philadelphia changed their logo some seasons back I thought that was gonna be the biggest change they would make, but a full rebrand was an awesome surprise. I love the location, logo and color choices. It will be great to see something new in the sim next season and I'm excited to see if it brings success!

If Money Tolliver was not a football player he would probably be off trying to showcase his abilities or talent to the world in some form. Some options he had considered instead of playing football as a Tight End were the fact that he could probably be an incredible actor due to his ability to stand out anywhere, whether it be in the middle of a crowd or in the middle of stonehenge, his shine and sparkles all over always helped him stand out above the rest. The aura surrounding his character was simply different. Similarly, Money Tolliver also believed that he could have potentially been an extremely popular singer in another life. Potentially taking over a name such as Don Tolliver or something, the sky is the limit for good old Money Tolliver. He was sure his keen hearing would also allow him to put together quality music and produce for others as well. Perhaps a song called Lemonade or something could be made a hit?

29. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? Why? (Written Task)

I am definitely not biased in any way or sort I swear (I am most definitely biased) but I absolutely love the Orange County Otters branding. Everything about it is so perfect. Yes, Sea Otters suck. They are known for committing all kinds of crimes in the seas all over but River Otters are absolutely incredible. Although the animals themselves may have violent tendencies and may not exactly be the most wholesome creatures that a lot of media portrays them as but I still can not help but fall for their cute-ness and cute tendencies when they are busy goofing around in their little enclosures, or when people have them as pets and they are busy playing around such as a lot of youtubers. There is also something about the orange color that is pretty cool and fits the otter theme really well as well as, obviously the Orange County location which is also incredible.

Though I trolled the rebrand thread (what's so great about posting the letter L, anyway?) I really don't like the rebranding of the Philadephia Liberty. I have three main reasons for this:

1) I liked the old branding
Philadelphia is a location that should be represented in the sim league world, imo. The Liberty was an awesome idea for a team brand and always had cool looking bell-based logos. It had that classic Americana thing going.

2) I dislike the new branding
Cape Town - yeah that place is huge on it's football. One of those "exotic locations are cool" calls that I dislike. The logo looks like clipart and the colour scheme is an off brand KCC. The "Crash" part I don't hate.

3) I think they did it for questionable reasons
It seems like "everyone was laughing at Philly" or "Philly was cursed" is a decent part of the rationale here. We weren't, and they aren't, respectively. It's easy to believe there's some kind of hex on you - there just isn't.

But hey, they are happy with it, and if they're happy, who gives a shit what I think?

Task 16: 5 TPE

The Season 38 Arizona Outlaws started out with 5 straight wins, the largest of which was a 49-17 humbling of the San Jose Sabercats. The Outlaws couldn't be stopped on the ground or thought the air, as Wendell Sailor finished with a 136.7 passer rating and two passing touchdowns, and the team combined for four scores on the ground. Second year Rookie of the Year Akaki Akayre contributed two sacks and a forced fumble.

The success went to the Outlaws' heads, however, as they allowed a 14 point 4th quarter in Week 6, to drop 24-20 to the Austin Copperheads.

The Outlaws won 4 more after this, with the biggest win coming in a 46-28 whooping of the Philadelphia Liberty. Wendell Sailor threw for three scores in what would prove to be the Outlaws' last ever victory over the Liberty before they moved to Cape Town in a move that is absolutely sure to guarantee the future success of the franchise.

The Outlaws dropped a second game to the New Orleans Second Line in Week 11, with the Second Line shutting down their running game completely and forcing Sailor into risky throws. After three more wins, they lost a third game to the San Jose Sabercats, mainly due to an amazing game from quarterback Owen Farrell.

This would be the Outlaws' last loss of the season, as they went on to finish the year 13-3 and clinch the Regular Season Championship.

Down 20-14 to the New York Silverbacks at the half in the ASFC Championship game, the Outlaws scored 17 points in the second half to win the game 31-28 and qualify for the Ultimus.

Arizona got out to a 17-7 lead against the Berlin Fire Salamanders going into the fourth quarter of the Ultimus. Berlin mounted a huge comeback in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 21-23, with the game coming down to an onside kick with 28 seconds left. Outlaws backup running back Danny Nedelko recovered it to seal the Outlaws' second straight title.

Who in your mind are the four most noteworthy figures of the team’s history? Why does each one of your included figures deserve that recognition, and how did each of them make their mark?

I know the prompt is for one team's Mount Rushmore, but that's small potatoes. I'm going to go for every team. This will be based purely on player performance, not user contributions or anything like that.

Arizona Outlaws
King Bronko, Reg Mackworthy, Jay Cue Jr, Jayce Tuck
Some controversial picks here I know. Tuck infamously was (likely) the benefactor of some simmer cheating and as such is not even one of Arizona's 8 hall of famers. But be that as it may, the Bronko-Tuck years were the most successful in franchise history (though the current run may dethrone it) and Tuck had the best defensive seasons of all time.

Austin Copperheads
Easton Cole, Dermot Lavelle Jr, Mako Mendonca, Zoe Watts
There is an interesting case for Jackie Daytona over Cole. Cole is a hall of famer, but if you compare the numbers side by side Daytona may have the edge. However, eras matter, and Daytona played in more QB friendly times.

Baltimore Hawks
Versa L'Alto, Avon Blocksdale, Owen Taylor, Austin Roenick
Certainly one of the tougher ones to decide, as the options are plentiful with 13 hall of famers. It was particularly tough to shut out the wide receiver trio of Luke Quick, Trey Willie, and Errol Maddox.

Berlin Fire Salamanders
BamBam McMullet, Jeeeroy Lenkins, Goat Tank, Cmon Skiuup
Tank and Skiuup may not have the strongest career marks with franchise, but have some of the best individual seasons

Chicago Butchers
Kulture Fulture, Juan Domine, Sean O'Leary, Vincent Sharpei Jr.
A surprising lack of great options here, but the good news is some of their best options are still active and can continue to build resumes, such as Sharpei who I did include, and Zohri.

Colorado Yeti
Wolfie McDummy, William Lim, James Bishop, Melvin Murder-Moose
As one of the original teams, it makes sense the Yeti have a long history of great players. Toughest exclusions here were legends such as Micycle McCormick, Cole Maxwell, Mo Berry, Bubba Thumper, Immanuel Blackstone, and Albert Ruschmann.

Honolulu Hahalua
Dexter Zaylren, Cobra Kai, Big Slammu, Venus Powers
I considered including Guy Fields over Venus Powers, but it felt wrong to not include the franchise's only inducted hall of famer.

New Orleans Second Line
Borkus Maximus III, Quenton Bode, Forrest Gump, Andrew Witten
Despite have 12 hall of famers it was hard to pinpoint those that really stood out as the best on NOLA's franchise leaderboards, possibly because half of them split time with other teams.

New York Silverbacks
Tugg Speedman, Sam Howitzer, Ashley Owens, Bubba Thumper
Ashley Owens and Bubba Thumper each made the most of their hall of fame resumes while on Colorado, but were integral enough to New York's early seasons to make the cut.

Orange County Otters
Mike Boss, Franklin Armstrong, Bradley Westfield, Angus Winchester
You would think a team with the history that OCO has would be hard to decide, but this was actually quite easy. Boss and Armstrong are two of the best players ever, Westfield was the original GOAT wide receiver, and Winchester was standout defensive star on their first run of championships.

Philadelphia Liberty
Sam Torenson, Paul DiMirio, Lennox Garnett, Gary Goodman
One of the few franchises without a quarterback to make the group. Willie Miller was another option for the fourth spot but Goodman gets it as he has a pretty big lead on the franchise sack leaderboard

San Jose Sabercats
Joilet L. Christ, Jamar Lackson, Dan Miller, Kazimir Oles
Fourth spot was tough as Oles spent time elsewhere too, but he did choose to be inducted as a Sabercat.

Sarasota Sailfish
Mike Boss Jr, James Angler, Frost's RB (I don't know which name is preferred), Carter Knight
I considered Harrison Andrews but felt inclusion of both QBs was warranted.

14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.

My hunch (without a ton of additional information leading to this conclusion) is that expansion is not needed at the current time. I know that recruitment numbers in the SHL have slowed down pretty significantly, probably due to a combination of less overall free time in the population and having extensively milked (hehe) the typical recruiting forums (i.e., reddit) - each recruiting class is certainly smaller than the average recruiting class from, say, two years ago - so my guess is that the same is happening here. If, as i expect, recruiting numbers aren't super high right now, there's probably no need to add teams and thin out the talent further. circular argument here, but the fact we haven't expanded in a while tells me it's probably not needed and the numbers are just fine as is. That said, expansion is really fun and bringing new teams into the fold is pretty exciting. I love that we're getting a rebranding this season - I did like the philly liberty branding and it'll take me a while to get used to the new one (and it'll take the site a while to get used to the new one, as I can still see the liberty button in the side panel to the left and the new logo is nowhere to be found   ) but having new teams and logos in the mix always keeps shit fresh. In the spirit of freshness, I'll propose an idea for an expansion team just for fun. Being from the US I feel my attempt at an international brand would come up short so I'll pitch an american idea in, of course, the great city of atlanta! I'm not from atlanta nor have i ever been there, but having started the Atlanta Inferno as an expansion franchise in SHL I have a strong personal attachment to the cities and its real or fake teams. Lets call this ISFL expansion team the Atlanta Outferno - i'll sign up to play there in no time.

17. Going to Disney World! Who was the Ultimus or Ultimini Game MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disney World.

Well I was in the ultimus as a member of the ultimus winning Arizona Outlaws but I don't reckon I deserver to be the game MVP, in fact I'm certain I don't. The most deserving MVP of the game would have to be WR Kotoni Skaggs. QB Wendell Sailor had a great game and solid statline but most of that production went to Skaggs, whose 8 catches yielded 187 yards and 2 touchdowns in a rocketship performance. That's over half of Arizona's total passing yards and the only 2 Outlaws touchdowns of the game, so this is a pretty clear answer here. Skaggs had a blast at Disney World and ate a shitload of cotton candy. When asked what they were excited for in the Disney celebration, Skaggs replied "I love cotton candy I'm gonna eat a shitload of that stuff and I'm a pro athlete who just won MVP in the Ultimus so I'm allowed to do it - kids you can't eat a shitload of cotton candy if your parents don't let you until you reach this pinnacle achievement some day and then you can do it yourself."

Crazy that the season 28 drafter class began their careers almost 2 years ago. Of the 64 that were drafted, only 11 players are still on a roster according to the tracker at the time of writing. I'd like to give a shoutout to these players by briefly talking about their careers.

Auto Retirees:
IsHe... ReallyInvisible - 219 tpe - QB to OL - NOLA
ReallyInvisble played QB for 6 seasons before switching to OL. He will be auto retired following regression. His best season came in s34 when he threw for over 3700 yards and 32 passing TDs with 5 rushing TDs to go along with that.

Daniel O’Leary - 219 tpe - LB - AUS
O'leary has been a solid defensive presence for the Copperheads for quite some time. He will also be auto retired after regression hits.  His best season was also in s34 when he achieved 13 TFLs, 10 sacks, an INT, FF, and FR.

Possible Role Player Action:
Anton Bruckner - 306 tpe - CB - OCO
Bruckner was the longtime starting corner for the Otters. He'll come in just above the required TPE to no be auto retired following regression. His best season came late in his career, in s37. That season, he had 30 PDs, 5 INTs, and 2 TDs.

Raeni Clarke - 377 tpe - CB - SJS
Clarke is the only player on this list to not play her entire career with the same team. She's played for 4 teams throughout her career (HON, BAL, SAR, SJS). Her best season was in SAR in s33 when she had 31 PDs, 6 INTs, 2 FF, 2 FR and 2 TDs.

Luke Quick - 384 tpe - WR - BAL
Quick has been a prime target on a Baltimore offence that has been really dynamic at times. It's tough to choose a best season for as he has had many good ones. I would go with s35 when he produced 1284 receiving yards, 11 receiving TDs and 17.6 yards per catch. Quick has potential for the HOF as he has the following career rankings: 10th receptions, 10th receiving yards, and 12th receiving TDs.

Makoa Mahiʻai - 448 tpe - TE to CB - BAL
Even though Mahi'ai has made a media post stating his intention to retire, he has not made it official yet so I include him on this list. His best season came in s37 as a CB when he had 4 INTs, 4 FFs, 3 FRs.

Lonnie Jackson - 457 - RB - CTC
Jackson has been the been the workhorse for CTC his entire career. s35 was his best season when he achieved 1747 rush yards, 15 rush TDs and 368 receiving yards, and 2 receiving TDs. Jackson is another potential HOFer producing career rankings of 12th in rush attempts, 10th in rush yards, 12th rush TDs, 21st in all-purpose TDs, and 20th in scrimmage.

Last Season as Impact Players:
Busch Goose - 666 - RB - BAL
Goose's career stats were hampered by being a part of a RB by committee offence much of his career. Yet he has still put up great numbers. His best season was in s35 with 1053 rush yards, 7 rush TDs, 723 receiving yards, and 8 receiving TDs. Goose is a probable HOFer imo with career rankings of 22nd in rush attempts, 16th in rush yards, 18th rush TDs, 4th in all-purpose yards, 12th in all-purpose TDs, 15th in scrimmage yards, and 11th in scrimmage TDs.

Dexter Hall - 678 - LB - CHI
Hall's best season came in s37 with 135 tackles, 10 TFLs, 16 sacks, 6 FFs, and 3 FRs. Even with his longevity, I don't think he has a shot at the HOF with his highest career ranking being 24th in FFs.

Bender Rodriguez - 681 - LB - OCO
Woo that's me! Surprisingly my best season might have been last season with 137 tackles, 15 TFLs, 14 sacks, 1 int, 2 FF, and 2 FR. Hopefully these ranking are enough to get Bender in the HOF: 8th in tackles, 10th in TFLs, 16th in sacks, 19th in FFs, and 9th in FRs.

Stumpy Jones - 684 - OL - SAR
Possibly longest serving O-lineman in ISFL history. Hi best season was in s35 when he had 136 pancakes and gave up no sacks. I think he is a lock for the HOF being ranked 13th in career pancakes and only surrendering 13 sacks, of those 7 came in his rookie season!

32. How do I feel about the rebranding? How do I feel? Outraged of course. I really dropped the ball here by not doing this prompt as soon as it dropped because my feelings were extremely fresh. I'll start at the top. In 2019 I joined the Pro Baseball Experience. That was my first sim league since about 2006. I had a 13 year hiatus between leagues, and when I joined the PBE I was hoping that I could see a team expand into Philadelphia. This never happened. I'm from the Philadelphia area so playing for a team from my hometown would be an absolute joy. For a few years I neglected joining other leagues because I wasn't sure how interested I would be in other leagues. This changes with the football league SCFSL. I played out my career there and decided to fill that void by finally joining the ISFL. Finally; I would have a chance to play for a Philadelphia team in the Liberty. Unfortunately they didn't even have a first round draft pick to get me. That's when they switched to Cape Town much to my disgust. My chance was gone now. So overall I feel terribly sad about this rebrand. Well; as sad as one can be about a fake football team moving lol.

33. The team that has need of the greatest rebrand is the Cape Town Crash. Not only did they remove the team from one of the best football cities in the entire universe - but they moved it to a country that has almost negative football tradition. Nobody in their right mind knows what a Crash of Rhinos is, and no one cares to look at a purple rhino all day, The color scheme is bizarre, the logo itself isn't terrible but I've seen some people throw out generic rhino logos instantly the day it was showcased. I'm hoping the users who voted to move the team to South Africa at least have roots their, or live there. Otherwise I truly don't get the brand change. There had to have been hundreds of better choices to make. Obviously a team should go back to Philadelphia; I don't care necessarily that it is to be Cape Town - but that would be cool.

34. I was a rookie on the Minnesota Grey Ducks so it's hard for me to answer this without saying my own name. I'm going to avoid doing that obviously though! The "new" player that made the biggest impact on the team for me is Painted Penguin. Penguin actually converted from the offensive line which is actually pretty crazy. He converted to Quarterback and had an amazing season for the Ducks. He passed for 25 touchdowns, threw for 3300+ yards and only had 9 interceptions. He managed to rush for 132 yards which is pretty decent for a non-running QB. The Grey Ducks led the whole minor league in passing this season which is obviously largely because of the big play from Painted Penguin. He had the highest passer rating in the league in his first season manning the QB position. He was second in touchdowns but his ratio was definitely the best in the minors. He would have a huge second season at QB if he stayed down - which seems unlikely.

14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.

There are some really great markets that need a football team. The ISFL could expand into these markets and really grow the game of football and the league. There are markets that could also use another team. These are massive markets we are in, and some of them could support an additional team. When we consider football, it’s the biggest sport in a lot of these markets, the fans would come out and support. We could have another Chicago team, like they have two baseball teams. Let’s add a Chicago Shield to the league and give them a white and black branding. Chicago could easily divide their support and keep both Chicago teams afloat and successful.
I’d also like to see some more European expansion. I am partial to places like the Nordics getting a team. Throw a team in Norway and call them the Polar Bears. Or we can put some in other countries and give them some good branding options. It’s time to take the ISFL to North Africa. A team in Morrocco or Egypt would be great. We wouldn’t do the typical branding ideas for Egypt like the Pyramids or something, but highlight some other aspects of their culture for their branding.
It would also be great to expand the game in Canada. Really get football pumping across the country. Throw up a Montreal Expos football team, get that branding going again and give the city a great franchise to rally behind. In Winnipeg, the locals could easily support a “Giants” team branding with black and yellow as the team’s colors. I could see these franchises taking a little bit of time to get up off the ground but once they get the support of the local fanbase, everything would be golden. The Winnipeg Giants and Montreal Expos may even duke it out in the future Ultimius. Ultimately, I think the team should have a pro-expansion attitude and look to grow the game around the country. If you get more teams out there, more players interested, the health of the league will rise and we could use that stability.

19. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it.

We are throwing up a new stadium in New Orleans and there are a few features that I really want to see come to life. I know some places have pools for patrons to hang out in during games, but how about a lazy river? Doesn’t everyone like chilling and floating in a lazy river? Have a few waterfalls in there for the ambience and that would be the best way to take in an ISFL game. The big screen over the field is going to be massive so that fans at all levels can look up to see what is going on. Then we all know how nice it is when movie theaters added those recliner seats, how about those at the new stadium? We might be talking fewer seats in the stadium but if we are going for the ultimate game day experience, then we are talking about must need. The best food and drink amenities will be present at reasonable prices. There is no reason that a drink needs to cost $20 and price fans out. Everyone should be able to attend and have a good time at the game. The new stadium will have real grass. The turf fields are a little too dangerous to the athletes and pose real injury concerns. The real grass may be harder to maintain, but it will be worth it.
