Donovan Winters is the unquestioned leader of the Portland Pythons, both on the field as the quarter back, and off the field as an emotional leader in the locker room. However, he is more of a lead by example guy, not a lead by giving motivational speeches guy.
Today he tried to change that:
Portland Pythons! Together, we are a fearless snake! Together we are unstoppable! But like a snake, if we are in pieces, we are not very effective! When the offense is firing on all cylinders, the snake is fearsome! The bite is unavoidable, the venom is strong, the kill is inevitable! When the defense is strong, the snake is unhittable! The agility is high, slithering through the grass; the lunge is the beginning of the end! TOGETHER, WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE!!

The rest of the Portland Pythons players looked on in confusion, but were somewhat motivated by the intensity of the yelling, even if the content was lacking.

Listen up Pythons, you fuckers are playing like shit. Like you're dumb. Are you dumb? The rest of this league sucks. Not us though. If you make me look like an asshole out there I'll put you in the dirt. It's time to step up and show the league what we're made of. And I'm sure as shit not made of shit. We've faced adversity and setbacks, but only whiny little babies give up. We are a team and if you fuckers don't step it up I'll just have to do it for you. I have the talent, the drive, and the determination to succeed. But I alone won't win games. You dirt bags need to give 100% effort, play with heart and hustle, and leave it all on the field. We can't control the calls or the bounces, but you can control how dumb you are. Choose to not be dumb. Let's go out there this second half of the season and I'll drag your sorry asses to a championship.

Boys this is it, ive been in this league along f***ing time not too see much success i want each one of u young bucks to give it your all show this leauge why we brought a freaking team too africa in the first place put are marks and leave are blood, and sweat all over this league let them know who the real African warriors are we got them on are Jersey they are what we now represent lets run this league and get some hardware Im looking in this room and see alot of youth you boys dont know how freaking hard it really is too win in this league sometimes you only got this one opportunity ive seen alot of players come and go with nothing too show for it, i see a room full of champions that have yet too be crowned lets go show this league what we are all about, Demonson Out...

Pathetic and weak. Those are the words that I would use to describe our team right now. Offense can't finish and the defense can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. Is this what we put our heart and soul in to? I know that I did not bust my ass all off season to get to a 2-4 record, and I will be damned if I let us continue on like this, without spark or fire. Look around you to your brothers and sisters and fight for them if you cant do it for yourself. I have heard some of you say that you are trying your best. Well if this is your best I am going to need you to try and find someone elses best to give, because your best is not good enough. I believe in the Butchers and I know that we will come out of this slump, but you have to want it as bad as I do.

Listen up you big bunch of goofballs, no way in hell anyone has the guts to tell me or anyone else in this room that all we came here to do was to sit back, enjoy some enchiladas and cold cervezas while we play with our churros, NO! When coach entrusted us with this team, when coach sent us to battle to raise hell against those damn fools that sit across from us, that’s not what he had in mind!

Get up from your cozy little buttocks, stop being soft, stop giving in half a shift and go out there with all the anger and might of our ancestors. I’m only a rookie and I’m having to stand up? I would be embarrassed if I were you. Stand up, stop joking around, show who the big dogs are. Its more than time we stop treating this league, this team, this coaching staff and the management team as a bunch of clowns who give paychecks here and there, let’s go win that ball game!

When deciding how to hype his Orange County teammates, Ace had a lot of talking points he wanted to hit that he believed would resonate with his teammates. First off was to not be discouraged by the tough start to the season. Not only were most of the games against the top teams in the league, their combined record was 15-5 for the teams we lost to, so if anything its good that we put up a good fight against these teams that had the advantage on us. Next up is the other side of that coin, which is that since we had mostly away games in our first 5, we should face a much easier schedule down the line, and with a powerful rushing offense that can get going at any time, the Otters should be able to win any game if the defense is able to keep up, and hopefully make a push for the playoffs. Ace believes this will keep the team motivated down the stretch.
