The question that struck a nerve with Lloyd was questioning how well Tijuana would actually perform this season considering he's a rookie and the amount of rookies that the Luchadores would be relying on going forward for this season.
I feel the team responded well to the attack on the young core of the team, where in the first game of the season the Luchadores smothered the Dallas Birddogs by a score of 45-10. In my first career game as a pro, Lloyd had a very solid game going 18/25 for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns. While the yardage number wasn't amazing, the overall performance was solid. The running game also featured 2 rookies who ran for 86 yards between them while we ran for 175 yards total on the ground. On the defensive side, rookies Synystyr Gates (CB) who had 7 tackles and 3 PDs and Jayden Alexander (Linebacker) who had 7 tackles and 1 PD led the Tijuana defense shutting the dallas offense to 292 yards and just 10 points. Overall it was a dominant game where many rookies had bright highlights and prominent roles. I have some strong hopes for the Luchadores going forward this season.

“So Lenny Longpipe, you were drafted in the third round, some say a huge reach for Honolulu, and then they switched you to defensive end. Did they not trust you to man the interior??”
This question rubbed Lenny the wrong way because clearly the team already drafted one of the highly rated prospects on the d line earlier in the draft, and with the team playing a 3-4 defense, he knew he would have to adjust. “Look, people can talk all the way, I know my body, I know my skill set. Everyone wants to call me a reach, but I think Honolulu got a steal. I am going to work my ass off day in and day out to prove to this team that I was worth taking a chance on. They moved me to defensive end because they could see how versatile my skill set was. Said I was way too quick to not be on the edge getting to the QB. So before all that talk about not trusting me, this team has done so much for me that we can dead all that nonsense right now”
We as American football players have had to deal with the media from time to time. Sometimes their questions are fun and pleasant, while other times the questions they ask can be grating. Unfortunately, this was one of the latter times. The question in question is in regards to where I was perceived as a defender in the league. As the media knows, I switched from Defensive Tackle to Outside Linebacker to help my team. The media asked me where do I perceive myself amongst the league's top defenders; I answered that I was a top ten defender in the league. However, the grating part was the responses from other teams that they told me. Apparently, rival executives believe that not only was I a product of the NOLA defensive scheme but that I was easily replaceable. That has motivated me to get a triple double and to get DPOY to prove these doubters wrong!
Alita Battle Angel has had a very slow start to her ISFL career. The draft saw her drop down to the 3rd round, and the only reason she was picked in the 3rd round was due to her potential but not what she had actually produced during her first DSFL season with the Birddogs. A reporter asked a question that irked Alita in this weeks press conference. The question was, when would Alita actually lock in and start trying. No one enjoys being called out and Alita was initially stung by the question. But after chewing on the question she realized it was a valid one to ask. Alita had simply not put her best foot forward during her first season and it seemed like the pattern seemed to be continuing into her second season. Alita was discouraged by the competition level of professional football and was not putting in the work needed to succeed just yet. She hopes to put in more effort going forward.

During our first training session as a team all the Royals players and I had been having a grand old time. We were just doing some silly scrimmages and drills that were par for the course in training. In one of those scrimmages, my pal Willier Miller threw a pick and everyone present started clowning him and telling him “classic old Seb!”. However, it was all in good fun and we didn’t care much since it was training anyway. However, a pesky reporter later came up to me and asked “Do you believe the Royals have a chance at winning the Ultimini despite having him as your QB?”. I was beyond pissed. He clearly didn’t understand that it was a meaningless pick as it was just training and wanted to extrapolate the situation for a juicy headline. I didn’t fall for the bait and just told him “We as a team put our full trust in Seb to win us games and to be a leader on the field”. He then asked some run of the mill questions and left, so I guess nothing bad happened there. But let me tell you something: No pesky reporter gets to make fun of Seb, only we do! |
