(S41) Offseason Task

S41 will prove to be one of the top draft classes in ISFL history. Let's take a look at some of the key picks here. I'll highlight my Colorado teammates, but also other users I think who will succeed as well. I'll also make some bold claims on who I think can make HOF. I apologize to users I didn't highlight, but I don't want to make this a bajillion words. 600 is plenty!

Dub Redd: Selected number 1 overall I think this player is going to be a solid piece for New York, an immediate contributor on the defense in my opinion. Also shoutout to Wizard_Literal for making some killer mock drafts with excellent commentary. Although we're not on the same team, expect him to be a perennial pro bowler.

Mary Marie: Colorado Yeti's first selection in the draft and probably one of the top best defensive backs in this draft class, Marie is going to be an absolute force in the secondary. Colorado is definitely building a contender on defense. Definitely will have a shot at HOF based on the team around Marie. I expect them to be a captain in the secondary.

Craig Brand: Elmerchanto was projected in the top 5 of a lot of drafts so for Colorado to get his player Brand here in the middle of the first round is incredible. I think this is an excellent pickup and will immediately bolster this Yeti defense. I can't wait to play alongside him and Marie. Brand will be in multiple pro bowls without a doubt and have serious HOF considerations.

Oliver Tolliver: Love the name and this was the first offensive player in the S41 ISFL draft. Memento Mori (also love the Lamb of God reference, assuming it is so) is an incredible ISFL user and I'm shocked to see his player drop this far. Obviously a lot of teams were targeting defense, but in 12 seasons or so we're going look back and realize that a HOF WR was taken at the 9th pick.

Wolfie McDummy Jr.: Colorado has locked in their QB of the future. InfiniteMPG is going to be a staple both on the Yeti offense and will be in the conversations as top QB in the league once he hits his prime. The first QB selected in the draft and in my opinion the best. Also shoutout to him for making the clean draft cards

Loose Cannon: I have no idea how this player fell so far. Jumbo is a top user in sim leagues and now New York might have the best linebacker core in the ISFL if they can retain Redd and Cannon once they peak. I know this was a deep LB class, but I had Cannon going in the top 3 here so New York should be absolutely ecstatic to have him at 15 overall. Definitely a HOF user at minimum.

Terry Johnson: Speaking of deep LB class, just want to shoutout to Gumbaman here. He's a sim league vet and someone I would interact a loooooong time ago in the SCFSL. Probably not a HOF candidate, but he'll be a solid role player on that Yellowknife defense.

The Riddler: New York had maybe the second best draft here (after Colorado of course) and they hit it big with picking up the WR create by Mattbake12. MB12 is maybe my favorite user in all of sim leagues and just a genuinely great person to talk to. Even if he solely created this player to burn my player on pass plays.

Orga Panda: Another generation of Pandas in sim leagues, Juniped is back and better than ever. A staple on the Tijuana offense I expect him to have a solid career for Wraiths.

Ryan Knock: Austin is getting maybe the second best steal in this draft. A deep linebacker class indeed, because Nasbase is a solid user so expect Knock to be a threat for the Copperheads.

Malik Brooks: THE ABSOLUTE STEAL OF THIS DRAFT AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE. Brooks will be the best running back from this draft class bar none and a HOF candidate easily. AK41 is an absolutely goated user and getting picked up in the middle of the 4th round is absolutely a steal.


When the dust settles I would expect 7-8 HOF players from this draft class and so many more solid role players as well. Some fresh users combined with old heads in this class and I think that's a great formula for the one of the best ISFL draft classes in league history and definitely a staple one.

16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?


What can I say about the Chicago butchers season? I believe everyone on the team knew we were great players and had potential but we were not 100% sure on if our rebuild was ready to go for a playoff run. after a terrible preseason starting off one and three morale was not very high in the butchers locker room.

After the first four games, we were 3-1. Our only loss coming to a division rival wraiths. In which we got absolutely destroyed. Which is not a good sign as any playoff run would likely have to go through them.

The next four games we were 3-1 again. Losing a close game to the secondline. Which left us 6-2. Much better then any of us would have thought.

The next four games, if you haven’t noticed a trend. End in the same way as the first four weeks, we were 3-1. Our only loss coming to the wraiths again. who beat us again. My thoughts in our locker room, where our only chance of making a playoff run would be a first round bye And home-field advantage.

I mean, what can I say our last four games we went 3-1 again missing a chance to clinch first place in our division. and we ran into the wraiths again for a chance to make the championship game, which no surprise after losing to them twice. We hoped to pull off the upset, but could not.

This section will be about the Butchers defense. Which I am a key piece in. As a whole, the Chicago butchers defense was number one in forced fumbles. We were top three in sacks. As far as highlights go, this was my best year by far breaking all of my season records, except for tackles for loss. Which I tied this season. Until the last three weeks, I thought there was a very good chance. I could break a sack record. One of the low points for me was that last three weeks. I was unable to produce as well as I had in the previous 13 weeks and I was unable to stay the sack leader. The sacks leader was very lucky to have gotten a couple bonus sacks in the last few weeks to pass me.

32. Your player has decided to start a podcast since it's what all the cool celebrities are doing these days. What would the name of your player's podcast be and what would they talk about/do on the podcast? (Written Task)

I’m very excited to start a podcast as soon as I can figure out how to do it. I am very skilled in football and not very skilled in the technical sense. The name of my podcast would be “The Cutting Room Floor”. I think the name matches well with the fact that I play for the Chicago Butchers. I will try to add other members of my team as cohosts. I know I can get at least one cohost. My friend and teammate Austin Morley. We could talk about the butchers locker room and goals for the season. I think it would also be fun to go over our weekly predictions for the games each game that week. I would like to recap the previous week. Fans will get to see us in a different light. Maybe I can answer fan or league questions. So I can’t wait for you to listen to me on “The Cutting Room Floor“.

10. Through a random lottery drawing, you have been named the league's new commissioner for a day. Congrats! What improvements would you make to the league if you had the power to do whatever you wanted?

Wow. Congrats to me, I have won the lottery to be the new commissioner. One of the first things I would enact almost immediately would be to apply more emphasis on building culture at the lower levels of the league especially in the DSFL. Currently there's too much importance to get a player up and in to the International Simulation Football League and almost frog jumping the DSFL and rushed through and joining the upper echelon of the league. I think the DSFL locker rooms are becoming more sparse in activity and it's almost a chore currently for some players to play for these teams and the one change I would make is either removing or increasing the current TPE cap to incentivise longer stays at the DSFL level. By increasing the cap the player would have more flexibilty to create more diverse builds and increase earning as they aren't getting to 250 and feeling limited. This would probably cause a massive power vacuum for certain teams that attract veterans like Tijuana or Dallas but it means users have a higher target to hit before feeling the need and or itch to move on to the bigger league. It also could potentially mean players come in at a higher caliber than what we currently see and have a higher impact. On the back end of this I would recommend pushing the regression back by a couple seasons to cater for the longer DSFL periods. Perhaps having a mandatory two to three seasons in the DSFL maybe even three seasons for new players and two seasons for Veterans/re-creates. I think it would help build a culture at the front door rather than building it on the back end. I would also look at adjusting the way that players get rewarded for graphics as the overall trend is misalignedd when it comes to Point task requirements and the time it takes to complete a decent graphic for the task.

14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.

Butchers butchers butchers. I like the location with it being in Chicago and Chicago holds such a staple within the sporting world in America but this isn't an American league. It's an international league. With the new teams like Crash, Salamanders and (kind of) of Honolulu Hahalua, it provides an opportunity to expand once again to the oceanic region with the newly formed, expansion team to replace the Chicago Butchers with the Dunedin Tawaki. Another Bird related team is incoming but it's a gangster little penguin that's only found in the south west corner of the south island and on Stewart Island. They're a penguin with bushy yellow eyebrows and a lot of attitude. They're one of the rarest breeds of penguin in the world, they are one of the larger penguin species coming in at around 10lbs, they are also very strong and agile for their size. They would suit a sports team extremely well by the mere fact that the penguin species themselves are strong and durable, they naturally make for a great color scheme in yellow black and white (Perhaps we need to replace baltimore instead), easy to merchandise, is named after an endangered species and the type of penguin that they are is unique and memorable as opposed to whatever tf the pittsburgh penguin is supposed to be. It also puts a team at the ISFL level in the oceanic region meaning it would truely cover almost all the regions on the map. We currently have North America covered, Africa covered, Europe covered and this would place a team in the Oceanic region. We'd really need a team in Asia and south America to meet the full idea of an international simulation league but this would be going in the right direction. Overall I think either Butchers or Hawks could do with a bit of rebranding and either teams history is as strong as some of the other teams that have been around for a similar amount of time.

19. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it. (Written Task)

There would be some much-needed additions to a brand new stadium in Sarasota. The first thing I’m doing is making sure that the roof is a retractable one. There’s almost nothing worse than the Florida summers, even in picturesque Sarasota, and that is no different on the football field. A retractable roof could give us a home field advantage if we decide we want it open. We could also close it for some of those early fall Florida monsoons. The second thing I’m looking to add would be more public transportation options to get to the stadium. Florida wasn’t designed with all these people and cars in mind. Remember, it was an inhabitable swamp for most of its history. With a brand new set of trains going from many popular surrounding neighborhoods would make the Sailfish one of the most forward thinking franchises in sports. Finally, I would ensure that we have a vast variety of concession options ranging from vendors serving food from local favorites, to traditional gameday fare. (170 Words)

27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)

If WR wasn’t available this time around, I would’ve gone back to the reliable and comfortable position of QB. I have a great track record in this league when it comes to having a player at the position, so I think it would be a natural move for me. Even after all these years, I still think that defense wouldn’t be very interesting for me. I want to be involved with putting points on the board. Another position I’d consider would be RB. There have been some really good backs in the league and I did consider strongly going that route. When it comes time to recreate again, I think it’s going to be QB or RB. Unless I come to some sort of epiphany that defense is where it’s at, I don’t think it’ll ever happen. That being said, I’m glad to try out WR this time around. If it wasn’t an option, it still would be a lot of fun to be under center again or make my RB debut. (172 Words)

33. When looking at the teams we have in the ISFL and DSFL, is there any team you believe is in need of a major rebrand or update to their current branding? Why or why not? (Written Task)

Looking at all the teams that we have right now in the ISFL, I think the team that needs the most rebranding is the New York Silverbacks. I get it, they want to go with the King Kong theme. But what I don’t get, is that King Kong is the bad guy. He’s the dude who wants to destroy the city. So, why would you name your team after someone who very well may want to destroy it? Not to mention but still will anyway, there aren’t that many silver back gorillas in Manhattan. Maybe the team could try to be something that is a bit more relevant to the state in which they play. The color scheme is cool enough, but they need to move on. New York should be one of the best brands in any league, it’s arguably the most influential city in the United States of America. Their team names and branding styles should reflect this. (160 Words)

29. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? Why? (Written Task)

The team with the best branding in the league would have to be the Sarasota Sailfish. The cool combination of that Floridian blue and green that lets you know this team is all about violent, predatory, horned aquatic animals that want to rip you apart limb by limb. The logo is a pissed off swordfish. I challenge anyone to volunteer themselves to be on a small boat in the middle of the Sarasota Bay and pull up a sailfish and try to make it out alive. The animals will beat people up, and the logo looks like he’s seen some things before. The color scheme goes together so perfectly, I’ve seen it before in my many sim league years but it’s always been one of my favorite. Anyone who’s been there might remember the Cuba Green Wave, so that’s where my bias began. The stadium art during the sim is also pretty cool for the Sailfish, they might not have the best field in the league but overall branding, it makes me feel like it’s Florida football. Honorable mention to Yellowknife, I love their color scheme, too. (187 Words)

26. if your player wasn't a professional in the ISFL/DSFL, what would they be doing instead? (Written Task or Graphic Task)

If Caleb Hayden wasn't already a professional in the ISFL, he would go out and become a professional golfer. Caleb has always loved the game of golf, and it's his favorite past time when the Hahalua are into the off-season. He usually likes to go golfing with his GM, formally known as IceBear. While Caleb's skills aren't the most amazing, he still has a lot to learn, and he is doing a fairly good job at keeping up. For context, IceBear has been golfing for far longer than Caleb, and he is much better than Caleb, but they do enjoy playing together. But after months of practice on the off-seasons, Caleb has finally brought his golf game to the next level, and he is finally ready to beat IceBear in a match. Also with that training completed, if he were to evert step away from the ISFL, he has nicely set himself up for a good career as a pro golfer.

27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)

If LB was unavailable for when I chose my player position, I would have either chosen RB or maybe even DE. The reason for DE being that Caleb loves sacking QBs. He would always create as an elite pass rushing LB in Madden 23, and he would love every second of it, so he would choose the next closest position to that if he couldn't get it, which would be DE. But another one Caleb liked was RB. He always loved speeding past the line of scrimmage and breaking for a huge run, and gaining a ton of yards for the offense. Another reason is that Caleb always wanted to be a fantasy god, and RB is one of the most important positions in fantasy, so he would always try to become the best RB in the league. So yeah, DE and RB are the two positions I would be if LB was full, but thankfully I could create as a LB.

29. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? Why? (Written Task)

This one is easy, I believe that the Honolulu Hahalua easily have the best branding in the entire league. The logo is just so awesome, consisting of an amazing Blue and Yellow, and those 2 colors match perfectly. They also have had some of the best COlor Rush fields I have ever seen. They are always able to mix and match the colors and find new logo's to make everything still just fit into the Honolulu theme. Whether it be a turtle, a stingray, or hell, even a shark, Honolulu has it all. They have some amazing graphics people in there, who really take stuff to the next level. OrbitingDeath is probably one of the most underrated graphics designers here, and he does an amazing job in Honolulu to make sure anything graphics wise is always in shape, and making sure all the small details are perfect. So yeah, I thin that the Honolulu Hahalua easily have the best branding in the entire league.

31. Jordan Hartline has always been a hardworking member of his community and has always wanted to give more back to the locals that support the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He quickly got involved in local kids clubs where he would spend the majority of the off season teaching children how to play football and providing much needed food to families that needed it. His involvement in the community is something that he prides himself in and the team quickly took notice. The Fire Salamanders has always given the Flaming Hot Sally award to the most outstanding member of the community. A player that has given back more than just what is expected on the football field. This season that honor was given to Jordan Hartline and he is very excited to be recognized for all of his hard work that he has done in this community. He does not do it for the recognition but, it definitely is nice to be thanked for it.

14. Expansion is always one of the most entertaining topics to talk about when it comes to any sim league, not just the ISFL. For the ISFL expansion means opportunity for more players and the opportunity to shake things up in the standings. I believe that we should get rid of the DSFL and create just one league that expands and adds four more teams to it. Of course this would cause a complete redraft and a very small protection list for all other teams. I think that this would add a lot of excitement into the league and really just cause chaos which, who does not love? For the 4 expansion teams I would want to lean into the international side of our league and continue to find teams to represents countries, or even continents that are not currently represented. I would want to move a team to Brazil and have a team player out of Rio known as the Rio Aviators with a parrot being the mascot. I think the vibrant colors would look great in the sim. Next I would want to make sure England stays represented and keeping the London Royals branding in the league is a perfect fit for this task. This leaves 2 more teams and I would want to add an Asian team to the league and Tokyo stands out as a great market that would have a very strong fan base and the Tokyo Titans would be a team that could have some very clever branding and a team I think many players would like to play for. My final expansion team would have to be on out of Canada and a personal favorite I saw from amidships a long time ago. The Montreal Underground is a team that would immediately turn heads and add another Canadian team to compete with the dangerous Yellowknife Wraiths.

19. The Duck Pond in Minnesota has been considered one of the best domed stadiums in the DSFL if not the best in both leagues combined. The spacious dome has always felt like it was ready to make the jump to the big leagues and the crowd couldn't be any more electric every home game. Ownership has come together to add a new attraction to the stadium that will take the home atmosphere in Canada South to a new level. Before every game there will be an official grey duck caller. That's right. The stadium now has a 15 foot long duck call that will be blown by a celebrity, hall of famer, or Duck of the past before the opening kick off. The new duck call will be showed off in the first preseason game and already has fans buzzing online about the amazing northern grey quack of the Minnesota faithful.

21. Kenny Szymborski is a great actor and laid down a pilot episode for a new show on the DSFL network also starring the Tijuana Luchadores very own Orga Panda @juniped. The show follows two newly drafted rookies into the ISFL who are fighting to get called up to the show and out of the slums of the DSFL. From riding in busses from game to game, to getting in bar fights with the locals, and even some heartfelt moments like falling in love with one of the teams biggest fans. Orga plays a hotshot Wide Receiver that is destined for greatness while Kenny is a tight end with slim chances of ever reaching the bigs again. The two start off as bitter rivals trying to knock each other down before realizing they could get farther together and make it to the bigs one day. The show will be called Luchas and Ducks and is definitely not a rip off of Bull Durham.

16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

Dante King's twelfth season with the Baltimore Hawks saw him once again take the reigns of the team's rushing attack after spending the prior campaign primarily as a pass-catcher out wide. He was joined in the running back corps by rookie Money Tolliver, and the team's burgeoning passing attack, helmed by star in the making quarterback Preston Beatz, was bolstered by the arrival of star wide receiver Rocky Moreaux in free agency. The Hawks still represented a young team, so expectations for their performance were tempered. The season got off to a rocky start as the Hawks lost their first two games - first, a heartbreaking loss to the Cape Town Crash that saw the team trail by 21 points before mounting a valiant comeback attempt that fell just six points short; then, a brutal 33 point blowout against the Orange County Otters as quarterback Kaguya Shinomiya accounted for 280 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground alone. The ship appeared to right itself as the Hawks bounced back with two consecutive close home victories over the Sarasota Sailfish and Berlin Fire Salamanders, but that would be the end of the good news for the team. Another three game losing streak began a 3-9 run to finish out the season and land in last place in the conference; however, there were bright spots to build on for future years. The team's 412 points scored over the season ranked in the top half of the league and their 397.3 yards per game were best among all ISFL teams, led by a strong passing attack that accounted for a league-high 318.3 yards per game. However, the defense was lifeless and ranked at or near the bottom of the league in most metrics. For Dante, this season was memorable on an individual level, as he once again racked up 2,000 all-purpose yards and over 1,500 scrimmage yards to move to second place on the all-time career all-purpose yards leaderboard and third on the scrimmage yards rankings, as well as continuing to extend his lead as the most prolific receiving running back the league has ever seen.

17. Going to Disney World! Who was the Ultimus or Ultimini Game MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disney World.

As season 40 of the ISFL came to a close, we saw the always dangerous Arizona Outlaws defeat the also always dangerous Yellowknife Wraiths in the Ultimus Bowl to take home the championship. As usual, the preeminent force powering the Outlaws to victory was quarterback Wendell Sailor, who completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. As a reward for his hard work, Sailor will get a chance to experience Disneyland and it is incumbent upon us to guess what his trip may entail. As Sailor is, per his name, a fan of water and aquatic activities, I assume he will visit some thematic staples - Splays Mountain to get himself and his compatriots drenched, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage to explore the deep blue as a naval sailor might, and the Grizzly River Run to experience a true sailing experience moving through substantial falls. All in all, he and his guests will have a great time in the House of Mouse!

26. if your player wasn't a professional in the ISFL/DSFL, what would they be doing instead?

What was once a hypothetical question has become a stark reality for Dante King as he approaches the end of his professional football career - what would he do if not play football? Although his career has provided him with earnings that will set him and his family up for the future, he is not one to idly sit by in retirement. When he finishes this season, Dante will likely spend his time around the game as a commentator or coach. Perhaps the most likely initial path is to coach a high school team in either his native San Francisco Bay Area or adopted Baltimore, and build up his credibility as a scout and/or announcer via social media in the meantime. Many former players have made a successful transition to the media booth or sidelines, and Dante's breadth of experience and depth of understanding for the game position him to continue contributing to the evolution of football even after he leaves the gridiron.

“Mayhem and Otto” is a heartwarming and hilarious television show about ISFL linebacker Mathias Mayhem and his pet otter named Otto. The show follows the duo as they navigate the ups and downs of life as a pro football player and a playful and mischievous otter, who is Mayhem’s best friend and biological son.

Viewers are taken on a journey as Mathias and Otto embark on various crazy adventures, and tackle the challenges that come their way. From Otto causing chaos in the locker room by chewing all of the wood work, to Mathias teaching his son/best friend/pet otter how to catch a football. the show offers a unique and entertaining perspective on the world of professional sports, and how amazing Otters are.

Viewers will also meet Mayhem’s teammates, coaches, and neighbors who all play a role in his life on and off the field. "Mayhem and Otto" is a R rated family-friendly show that offers a mix of comedy, drama, and heartwarming moments that will keep viewers entertained and engaged from start to finish. The R rating is for brief scenes where Otto is seen mauling innocent bystanders.

24. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do? (Written Task)

The Ultimini halftime show this year will feature Mathias Mayhem and Otto the Otter. The show promises to be a spectacular display of athleticism and agility. The father-son duo will take to the high wire to showcase their impressive acrobatic skills, much to the excitement of the millions of viewers tuning in.

As the show begins, Mathias and Otto will climb up to the high wire, donning matching outfits. They will then proceed to execute a series of gravity-defying stunts, such as somersaults, flips, and jumps, all while balancing on the thin wire, and eating corndogs.

The duo will seamlessly transition from one stunt to the next, their chemistry and trust in each other evident in every move they make. The performance is a true testament to the unbreakable bond between a human father and his Otter son.

If Mathias Mayhem wasn’t in the ISFL he would be running a company called Otter Delivers. Otter Delivers would be a bakery that specializes in delivering freshly baked goods using a team of well-trained otters. Customers would be able to place their orders online or via phone, and the bakery's team of otters will paw deliver the goods directly to their doorstep.
Each otter is carefully trained to carry a special delivery pack on their back, ensuring that the baked goods arrive safely and in perfect condition. The Otters are also fluent in over 75 languages to make communication a breeze. Customers can choose from a wide range of baked goods, including bread, cakes, cookies, and pastries, all of which are freshly baked in the bakery's kitchen by Otters.

Otter Delivers commitment to quality would be their top priority, with all ingredients sourced from local farmers and suppliers. The bakery would also place a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, using eco-friendly packaging materials make from freshly chopped trees.

Otter Delivers would deliver a truly unique and memorable experience for customers, combining the convenience of home delivery with the playful charm of these adorable and intelligent animals. There would be extra insurance required for rare instances where the Otters attack families.
