*Rather than approach this from a negative viewpoint, my rivalry is more out of respect than hate. As a converted DT(from LB), I look up to one of the best to play the position, Cape Town's Christian Marciano. The guy is a legend amongst Defensive players in the ISFL.
Although Brian Vincent-Vega was taught to hate the Birddogs as soon as he was drafted to London, it was kind of hard to think of them as rivals when they were at the bottom of the table and got whooped by the Royals in all four of their games over two seasons. Instead, Brian Vincent-Vega's rival is somewhat unconventional. It's not a player, team, or even a general manager. It's Twitter Trolls.
Obviously, he knows social media criticism is part of being an athlete and he knows engaging with them will make it worse. But sometimes, he just can't stop. Just a few weeks ago in week 2 against New York where he recorded 0 tackles, PDs, and interceptions, his feed was full of 'He's doing cardio out there?' and 'he ain't built for the streets' tweets. After he replied in retaliation to some of the comments, the Arizona vets had a talk with him the day after and told him not to let them get to his head.
As someone who knows me will guess, there is a myriad of teams and players and users to talk about. I will be nice and not focus on users but will talk about a couple teams. First off, I wanna highlight the Yeti as someone who just always had a bit of a bad reputation to me. When I was NOLA GM and then war room, they somehow managed to grab a couple people from our war room when that really didn't even seem possible. And I feel like they have had other similar things too. And then now that I am not on NOLA, the other team I have to be rivals with is of course NOLA. I spent so much time on that team, so now whenever we play, I want to perform extra well and so far my player has always had excellent games against NOLA and I am really happy and proud with that.

Its funny to say, but I dont really think of any teams or players as a rival, or having a rivalery, because on Yellowknife there is no parallel. Teams may come and go, may beef up for a one year run to try and win the cup... but it makes no difference in the end. Naturally as being on YKW means I have to despise ARI, I actually like Simo so its a conflict of interest there, but YKW is the definition of consistency every singe season, so we are always competitive. We are 4-2 this year on what many would deem to be a "defense in transition", and yet still first place in the conference. Teams around us are going "all-in", yet here we are just chugging along. Like i said, there is no rival but outselves and the scouting process. You want to put the best team as possible on the field, and you know that by being consistent and being the best, all the other teams are just background noise.
Prompt Wrote:Sports are known for their rivalries, whether it's two teams that hate each other, 2 star players fighting to be the big name, or just two teammates fighting over silly nonsense, rivalries are rampant in professional sports. Write about what player/team you have beef with! I've been having a little one-sided rivalry with Ace McAlister. We've been the top TPE DBs from the S35 class and I finally managed to end up higher before regression kicked in. With the establishment of the IDP slots for fantasy, however, it's gotten more intense because despite very similar TPE and attributes, he seems to consistently keep scoring better in fantasy that I do. I've never looked really deeply into what could be the cause of it - scheme, luck, whatever - but it's been a little thing that's kept being very slightly annoying to me. It's not a huge issue - I've always been on the side of preferring team wins over personal stats - but the part where my personal stats help me get more TPE from fantasy keeps it more in my mind now. On the less personal side, I think the whole team has a strong rivalry with the Outlaws. They've been annoyingly good in the conference for a very long time and it's felt like we were never able to get past them in the playoffs no matter if we were home, away, tested well, whatever. I'm sure they have their own complaints about times we've pulled out a win, but it feels on my side like that's only ever been in the regular season. Seeing as they're in first in the ASFC again right now, I'm sure this rivalry won't go away any time soon. Oskar Clark is very fresh to the ISFL. So fresh that at this very moment he is sitting on waivers, waiting for his very first DSFL team to claim him. Since he’s so new, Oskar doesn’t have any real rivalries. Or any fake ones for that matter. No scores to settle, no just deserts to be served. Not even a single social media beef. So, by default, Oskar is beefing with everyone. The whole league. D and I -SFLs. The fans too, all of them, even other sports fans. The Salamander in Berlin’s logo. The Gorilla in- okay, maybe no starting beef with the gorilla. The point is, Oskar is fired up. He wants to go out there and prove the haters wrong. He wants to get haters in the first place. One day, he knows this will happen, so he’s mentally preparing himself now. Hopefully the DSFL is ready for Oskar, because he’s ready for it!
Who do the Otters have a beef with? Let me tell you! I actually don’t really know, I don’t think I have enough history to really say, I don’t find myself wishing for any particular team to lose, I just want everyone in front of the Otters to have that bad luck that lets us sneak into the playoffs again.
There are teams that I’m jealous of, I guess that counts? The Honolulu Hahalua are the one that team that comes to mind when I think of jealousy. They have a young squad that’s very much on the rise, and I think they’ll do really well the next 4-5 seasons. They won the title a few seasons ago, and it just seems too soon for them. I really thought that the Otters would have an advantage between their competitive seasons, but it’s not looking that way. I’ll be curious to revisit this question in 2 or 3 seasons, because I imagine that the age curves will be pretty shifted, some teams will be able to synergize their draft picks with free agent pickups, and I’ll have a new team to root against.
